They installed shiplap walls, a board and batten wall, all new dental crown moulding and baseboards downstairs, and revamped our nursery upstairs. They were able to work very well off pictures I had shown them, laid out realistic expectations, and were flexible with me when my husband and I made some adjustments to what we wanted. It was a pleasure working with them and their craftsmanship and attention to detail is unmatched. Jeff saved my office! I had a prior guy I found off Thumbtack say he could do crown moulding on my vaulted ceiling and he used all of the crown moulding I had on me which should have been enough but he only completed 30% of the work and had only completed one of the challenging corners. The Thumbtack guy also installed it inversely and the corners looked atrocious. I was in a panic and thought the crown would never look ok. That's when I found Jeff! He was so patient on the phone with me and listened to my predicament. He was able to get more crown moulding for cheaper than Ganahl lumber and he was able to have it spray painted before he came so it would look amazing and professional. He also made sure I had the same moulding that was in the rest of my house. Jeff was the only professional I talked to that believed crown moulding would look beautiful in my office with the vaulted ceiling. I talked to two other pros who actually said it would be "ugly". I was so excited to work with someone who would think my space could be as beautiful as I imagined! Jeff was great at communicating when he would be there to do the work. He brought his son to help that day and they were efficient and when they were done they cleaned up everything. They even wiped the dust off my light switches! I noticed. They glued the corners so they would look amazing and caulked the edges. They patched up any finishing holes and did touch up paint and used tape to get nice straight lines. Jeff asked me the following day after I had time to look it over better if they needed to come back for any touch ups which he didn't need to because it looked perfect and I am a very detailed person and notice things. They made the crown moulding look better than I ever thought it could! The way they worked around my mini split and the door casing is magical. I look up at the crown while I work and smile. There's no seams other than the corners and my room is 10x7 ft. I have had friends come over to see my new office and everyone is drawn to the crown and it's the first thing they compliment on. It really looks amazing. Pictures don't do it justice. Jeff and his son finished in a day like they said they would and this was a very challenging space as the corners are not 90 degrees (that's a whole other topic regarding my contractor who put those walls up). Speaking of contractors, Jeff is a contractor! I wish he would have built this office and I would have known about him before because then my walls would at least have been straight. They were very pleasant and my husband and I loved chatting with them. I would hire Jeff for any crown moulding or home improvement job in the future! We need more of Jeff in this world. From the Husband: Great work from a knowledgeable man In gathering quotes to have crown molding installed, I was fortunate that Mr. Coulson called back. We spent a fair amount of time over the phone discussing what my needs were and what I wanted to have installed. He made some recommendations which turned out better than we could imagine. He was able to schedule us and was very flexible and accommodating. When Jeff and Chris arrived to work, Jeff went over everything we discussed and didn't miss a thing. After confirming what needed to be done, they went straight to work non-stop. They worked for two days and completed the job on time. While here, they were always friendly, polite and cordial. We are exceptionally happy with the work that Jeff Coulson did at our home. Originally, I didn't really care about installing crown moulding, but my wife did. However, it turned out the crown moulding was a great way to conceal our Direct T.V. and Fios cables, as compared to putting them in the walls (we had about 60 feet of them on the walls/ceilings and they were ugly). The cost would have similar, but crown moulding adds value to the home. In addition to the crown moulding, Jeff encased a couple of very ugly beams that were in two areas. This was something he suggested he could do and the way he did it looked great--see the pictures. Jeff's prices were very reasonable. In addition to doing excellent work, Jeff was professional all the way. He made sure we had a written contract, that we understood the work he was doing, he did it for the price quoted and in the time he said it would be done, protected the floors, walls, and furniture appropriately, and did a pretty good clean up at the end. Jeff and Chris did an amazing job installing crown moulding to cover up thick electrical wiring from an electrical box to an AC (mini split) unit. Jeff came up with the idea of using custom cut boxes on some areas and executed them better than I could have imagined. He really thought it through before proceeding with the work, which I appreciate. His workmanship & artistry was very detailed and looked great for both the crown and the wood boxes. They also thoroughly cleaned up after their work was done, which doesn't seem to happen often with contractors in my experience so far. Hired Jeff to install approximately 500 linear feet of crown molding. I had though about doing crown molding for a while but wasn't high on the list that needed to be done. As a result of shoddy workmanship by another contractor we were forced to have it installed to cover his mistakes. (You get what you pay for!) Jeff wasn't the cheapest bid but was the most responsive and I am sure glad I used him. I have lived in my home for over 30 years and have had my share of negative experiences with contractors. I have had them not return phone calls, not show up for scheduled appointments, and the worst is when they do show up for appointments and end up doing sloppy work and try to explain it away with BS. Well, I experienced none of this with Jeff Coulson. He answered the call right away, kept me abreast of when he would arrive, had the right tools for the job, but more importantly, had the knowledge and experience to do the job properly. His minimum fee was more than I wanted to pay, but he was very up front about it so there were no surprises. Jeff Coulson, the owner, is super experienced and organized. I had a large job of replacing all of the old moulding in 3 bedrooms, a hall, and large living room, in addition to putting up new crown moulding. The new moulding was up in 2 days and everything was painted in 2 more days. The bid included materials, and the crew set up about 3 saws on my front lawn. The bid for the painting was separate, but they indicate that ahead of time. The paint crew that Jeff works with is wonderful - they put plastic over everything - even all of the walls. I have hired many contractors over the years, and I was thrilled with the professionalism of Coulson's group. I had one person give me a much cheaper bid, but it required that I buy all of the materials (and what would keep him from wasting what I bought?) Coulson's professionalism is worth it.! read more

I have a 1946 house and wanted to remove carpet and re-finish the original oak floors. I also wanted to replace the smaller sized and dated1946 baseboards and door casings after the floor was refinished. After having two different finish carpenters give me advice, I decided I wanted and needed an expert in mouldings, not wood finishing. I found Mr. Coulson on Yelp and read the reviews. He sent his crew to remove the mouldings before the floor was re-finished.
