Our birthday celebration brought to the party room
    Kimi S.

We went to celebrate our Aunt's 95th birthday and the service by Chris is what made the experience 5 stars!!! He's the best!! Ordered Baked Brie appetizers, everyone enjoyed various soups and salads that accompanied their entrees. The gazpacho soup was fresh and a bit spicy, what a version! The French onion soup, and the sausage soup (fav of my Aunt). Entrees included the prime rib, lamb shank and salmon dishes. Everything was tasty, service top notch, and it was great experience overall.

This place is hidden. I've been to Boise many times and I had no idea this place existed. The location is neat, very formal set up and a great overall space. It can be used for so much. They serve lunch and dinner to my knowledge and I added both menus in the photos. The Solomo Sandwich lunch special was great. Sliced pork, red peppers (not spicy), some great sauce. The overall review is a 4 out of 5. Service was alright and things took a while. I would come back for a date night or a business lunch or dinner. I'll be coming back to try more of the menu.

I was torn between a 3 and 4 star review. Most of the food was really good. The beef stroganoff was not good. The meat was dry and the sauce was bland. One of the wedge salads came with some plastic. The crème brulee was ok, but we have had way better at less expensive restaurants. The steaks were both amazing! Lamb was pretty great, shrimp scampi was good and the veggie rigatoni was good! Mashed potatoes were good, so were the green beans and pilaf. Our waiter was phenomenal and the restaurant its self was very pretty! Drinks came out very fast, food not so much, but everything came out hot and how it was supposed to be! Overall it's a pretty quiet restaurant and it has a pretty nice bar that you can sit at as well as some outdoor seating. Personally, I might go back and just avoid the stroganoff and crème brulee. If the price was a bit lower, I'd definitely go back.

This place was nice! very clean, kinda reminded me of a lodge restaurant.. great if you are wanting a quiet and nice atmosphere. This is not a young crowd restaurant. We went around 4 pm and i was the only person under 60. this is NOT a complaint.. just letting you know the atmosphere. The Calamari was excellent, the nachos were a decent size, the hummus was ok and the waitress helped us pick out the mixed drinks to fit our palette. I will come again for sure for their happy hour. i would love to try a main dish one day soon.

Who doesn't like happy hour? I'm always looking for great happy hour apps and today's happy hour spot is Cottonwood Grille. It was my first time at this venue. I know it's been around for a while. It's never been brought up as an option before so I'm happy that my friend suggested it. Walking in, we were instantly greeted. The host asked us if we were doing happy hour. Of course we were so we were told to head to the lounge area. We were quite early so the venue was pretty empty. The bartender saw us and got us taken care of with water and menus. After looking over the drink menu, I asked Max, our server, if they had mocktails. Non were listed in the menu so Max got creative and made one for me. It was a strawberry lemonade mojito. Boy was it good! I tried really hard not to finish too quickly. It was tasty! Max took our orders. I ordered a few appetizers and was concerned he couldn't remember it all. I was wrong, Max did a great job! I ordered a shrimp taco, a grilled shrimp cocktail, a cup of clam chowder, calamari frita and croquettas. I wanted to try a little of everything! Max got everything delivered and not one mistake! The clam chowder was thick and hearty. It had big pieces of clam and potatoes. It was perfectly seasoned! It was on the luke warm side. I would have like if it could have been a little hotter. The grilled shrimp cocktail was my favorite! You get a huge lemon slice and cocktail sauce with it. The shrimp was fresh! And when you added the cocktail sauce and lemon juice...... so good! The calamari was tender and savory. It could have been fried a tad longer. The crust on the outside was still soft so it was one noted in texture. Even though the calamari were kind of soft, it still was delicious! It also came with cocktail sauce and both together was fantastic! It was my first time having croquettas. The filling was soft and the exterior was crunchy. It was nice to be able to try them out. They were tasty but the soft to crunchy ratio was a little off for me. I would have liked more crunch to them. My last appetizer was the shrimp taco. The shrimp was savory and tender! It was topped with radish, onion and cilantro for a crunchy texture. All the elements worked! It was the perfect sized shrimp taco. I might have gotten a lot of appetizers but I'm happy I did! They were all great! Excited that I got to try this joint out. Cottonwood Grille is one of my mother law's favorite restaurants. I can see why! The venue is stunning. The staff is friendly. And you can't beat the happy hour prices that they have! I'm looking forward to coming bask and having dinner with my husband here. I think we'll be in for a real treat when we do.

Turkey wrap, and sweet potato fries, along with a nice glass of white wine.

I was Visiting Boise and looked for a unique place to have lunch. The place was very neat, clean and quiet. I ordered the turkey wrap along with sweet potato fries.. The food was very good, and sweet potatoes Frys were excellent! Cooked perfect! Waiter was friendly and service was good. We sat inside, but Next time I would try the beautiful, quaint patio, which is by the Greenbelt. As far as ambiance, it is a great place for an afternoon business lunch, or middle aged girls afternoon out! Also had a nice glass of white wine to enjoy the afternoon.

Our first time in Boise and this restaurant was recommended by a friend. First, it is in a great location along the Greenbelt path and in a beautiful setting. The river is on the other side of the path so you can hear a little water trickle by while sitting in the patio. We didn't dine inside but it looked very nice. We stopped in for brunch after our walk along the greenbelt. The patio was a lovely setting for a beautiful day. Beautiful plants, flowers and bird feeders to enjoy the birds. Our server Kyla was attentive and pleasant. We ordered the bacon infused bloody Mary's which were excellent. The drinks came with bacon and other toppings. The spice level was perfect. The hash and poached eggs were good. The avocado Benedict was also tasty but the potato's were super soggy. Lastly the chilaquiles with both red and green sauce had great flavor. I personally enjoy the chips more crispy but it as enjoyable. I asked if the sausage would be served crumbled on top the chilaquiles and she said yes but out came two sausage links. That was a bit of a miss. All three of us had poached eggs with the entrees. We all mentioned to each other that the eggs were a bit overcooked as there really wasn't much yolk to dip into and enjoy. I would suggest asking the server to have to poached eggs cooked 30 seconds less so you can enjoy the yolk. I would recommend sitting in the patio and giving this place a try for a nice Sunday brunch.

The staff is always attentive and impressively knowledgeable about the drinks. This visit, I tried something different--a whiskey sour served over shaved ice. I loved how perfectly chilled it was; the ice kept the drink from becoming overly sweet as it melted. I typically go for more booze-forward cocktails, so this was a fun change for me. My partner ordered a Toki highball, which was a perfect fit for his keto diet--highly carbonated soda water, Toki Japanese whiskey, and lemon. Clean, simple, and refreshing. Exit door was kinda hidden, but I eventually found it. I ordered the Cantina Fizz. It was a yummy fun drink. Service was good. Definitely a fun speakeasy experience.

Perfect spot for a loungey date night, or a meet up with a friend. There is no food. But plenty of spots on 8th in walking distance. A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

I've been to several speakeasies around the USA and Gatsby should be the standard of what a…read morespeakeasy should be. No really! Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.

We both got the traditional eggs Benedict... and I ate maybe 15% of my breakfast and just stopped. My husband ate all of his... but mostly because he was just hungry... Much like our Labrador who will eat absolutely anything! Haha. But he said it was only OK. He rated it a 5/10. What he disliked the most was the potatoes. They were fairly hard/tough and tasted like they were fried in old oil and sitting under heat lamps for two hours before we got them. They were very dehydrated as well. For me... The hollandaise sauce was fresh, but had no flavor. It needed more lemon or salt or something. The ham was odd... I'm a little too salty. It seemed like Hillshire Farms sliced ham. Not something you would expect at a nice restaurant in your eggs Benedict. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer... And it was so sour that I had to send it back. I poured like a heaping teaspoon of sugar into it, and it didn't even make a difference.... It was that sour. It actually started to make my stomach hurt a little. So I sent it back. And the waitress was very nice, and didn't charge me for it. The service was good... But they cram everyone in there on one side of the restaurant... at least outside. I have no idea why... They have all this space in front of their restaurant and yet they try and cram everybody right next to each other. It was very annoying, and made me just wanna leave. They have many tables on the other side like 10 feet away... But they insisted on cramming everybody into the same small area. And you could tell nobody wanted to be that close to one another. I'm not sure if they do this to make it easier for their servers... Or to make the restaurant look busy. Either way, it's a practice that they really should stop. My advice to the restaurant... Utilize your space outside in front, stop cramming people so close together. When you have to get up and move your chair so someone can get to their table... it's ridiculous! On a positive note... Their coffee was actually really good! Some of the best that we've had in a restaurant in many many years. And I know, I mentioned it above, but I should mention it again... The weight staff was wonderful. From the girl who greeted us at the front podium, to our waitress, and the waitressing training. Everyone was wonderful. So, to end this review... I can only comment on the breakfast. We didn't have anything else there, and maybe it will be good... But I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place another try. Good luck!
