Visited Cotton Patch yesterday with wife, I had the fish and chips (waist of money) my wife had the chicken fried chicken. The Fish was so heavily breaded that it could only be choked down with water. My fries were cold, so there was not a thing to be happy about. My wife's meal was not bad. the chicken was tender and the okra was okra. Her fries were hot. She also had a sangria which left a lot to be desired, was better once you stirred it, If you are going to serve a alcoholic beverage that is paired with a mix please prepare per the recipe. We were so disappointed today. The food wasn't hot, in fact the mashed potatoes were cold. The meat loaf didn't have tomato sauce topping.The meat loaf sliders and sweet potatoes fries were good however. Someone at our table ordered the triple cheese bacon burger. It came on Texas toast. We were staying at the La Quinta next door and we're looking for a place to eat late at night and this place hit the spot! I didn't know it was a chain but this location was supubrb! Our waitress was the sweetest and was very accommodating and even gave us a free appetizer because our app wasn't working. The bread you are served at the beginning is amazing and hits the spot. For our appetizer we got the mozzarella sticks which were to die for! I got the strawberry pecan chicken salad and it was very good! Nice and refreshing! Perfectly cooked chicken and fresh strawberries! Everyone at the table was very satisfied with their meal! For dessert me and a friend split the Dr. Pepper cake and it was to die for! Super good and really moist! I would definitely recommend coming back here for a delicious comfort meal!! read more

The food was good but small portions compared to the Brownwood location. They forgot to give me my Caesar salad and brought it to me after my entree. Pretty good food and service. It's pretty busy since it's one of the more popular college town restaurants, so get there early and be prepared to wait for a table. The chicken and dumplings are good, although I think the serving size is a little small. The yeast rolls are warm and flavorful, and salads are of a good portion size and are fresh, too. This was a decent place to grab a bit to eat with my Mom after we had been running errands. It's a chain, as I've seen them crop up in other small Texas towns I've been out and about in. Service was congenial and our table was clean. Atmosphere was like a regular chain restaurant serving lunch to hungry patrons. Nothing unusual, and nothing stood out. They did serve complimentary yeast rolls which came out nice, warm, and fluffy. These always have a simplistic pleasurable smell and are quite satisfying if done correctly. There was one roll for each of us and we were offered another basket, but declined. I ordered the Chicken Philly Cheesesteak and opted for sweet potato fries for $1 extra. The fries were actually quite good, with a slight sprinkling of salt AND brown sugar -- it wasn't over done, which made the crispy fries very enjoyable. Very friendly team greeted me. I watched them and they take care of each other which results in great service to the guests. I sat at the counter and ordered a ribeye with loaded tato and mushrooms. Steak came out a little more "medium" than medium rare but it was seasoned well. Tato was small but loaded. Shrooms were excellent. Otherwise could be 5 stars. I am usually not a dessert person, but Jaycee made a new item right in front of me for another guest: strawberry shortcake. Here's why it's so good: they use angel food cake, AND they cut the strawberries fresh before mixing into the strawberry sauce., and then dump it onto the two slabs of cake. This keeps the berries and cake from getting mushy. That was a nice detail. The only thing sweeter than the whipped cream on top was Jaycee. She's in the right business for sure. read more

We went to CPC for my birthday dinner on a Friday night. This CPC had the local high school game on, the facility did not seem overly packed. It took 10 minutes to finally get service from the waiter. Though in her defense I think she has 4 tables sat all around the same time, my husband and I just happened to be her last table. The rolls were really good. We also ordered the fried prickle chips which my husband enjoyed. I ordered a steak which was cooked to order. The chicken fried steak my husband ordered looked really good! We will have to try this CPC again at some point. read more

The food was pretty good ( the small portions of it I could taste) but the service was horrible! I ordered to go ( catfish and bacon cheese fries appetizer of queso and salsa and dessert of Dr pepper cake)my order was messed up two times. To add insult to injury the corn bread I ordered was thrown loosely in the bag. Not in a container or bag ! Fortunately I ended up not being to upset over that since the cornbread muffins could be used to play hockey . Outside of the cornbread the food was good just make sure to eat a snack before coming because the portions leave much to be desired. She appeared to be full of life and excited to work with us. This little lady served up central, Texas hospitality with grace and style!! Went in for a late supper. Ordered their Monday night special chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Was told it came with two sides for $7.99. Ordered a salad and mashed potatoes. The salad was watery and the potatoes were old. When the bill came we were charged $1.99 for each salad. Was told that the salad is not considered a side but a premium side. I feel the waitress should have included it in the side choice or at least told us it was extra. The manager didn't seem to care much. I will not be going back anytime soon. read more

As a chef i appreciate someone making something and not just opening a bag and frying it. This place gets a solid rating due to its consistency. It is everything you would expect a Cotton Patch to be. Service is good, staff is friendly, food is good! The only critique I have is that the portions of fried okra are small, but they still taste very good! Just your every day traditional cafe. Great place for lunch with family/friends! read more

We've never really had a bad experience here, sometimes the food is a little off though. Service is always okay, the place is always clean. I usually get the chicken and dumplings, they're very good. My family and I have eaten here many times, but after last night, we will not be going back. We were in a party of 11 and had called ahead to let them know to expect us at 7pm. The 2 hostesses did not want to seat us together, but we kept asking to be seated as 1 group. It was obvious that they intentionally made us wait as long as possible. The hostesses glared at us as we waited. We waited 45 minutes for our table, as every customer who came in behind us was seated and served. At this point half of the restaurant seating was empty. Our waitress was slow to take our drink orders of tea and water and she even slower to take our food orders. I asked her what time the restaurant closed and she said she didn't know. 2 parties of 4 were seated after us and served before us. 45 minutes after we were seated, my niece walked to the front and asked to speak to the manager. Our food was sitting on the counter. The manager said she couldn't do anything about our wait without calling her GM but then refused to call her GM. At this point, the 2 hostesses turn with their arms crossed and shot us another hateful glare! So, 1 and a half hours after walking into the restaurant, we walked out. As we did the 2 hostesses and 1 waitress stood to our right and several (maybe 6 waitresses) stood to our left. All of them gave our hateful looks and several said, very sarcatically "Thank You, have a good evening". No one in our group knew any of the ladies working there last night. We didn't do anything to provoke their behavior. Our only offense was requesting to be seated together. We went down the road to Peacock's Restaurant, were seated immediately and were served in less than 30 minutes. read more

I love the place.. bf hates it. Most cotton patches have big servings... not this one! One tiny scoop of broccoli and like 5 pieces of veggies for the mixed veg. His chicken fried steak was more than half breading. His chicken and dumplings had exactly 4 dumplings... I always get a salad or meatloaf. Well, since the remodel I was hoping that management and staff would take better care of the place. There's dust on the mason lughts and it seems as if the staff will haphazardly clean off the tables but NOT AROUND them. I watched in amazement as a table of 6 was seated at a round top with trash and food all around them. Ours had small trash and crayons y der it. The wait staff didn't know that loaded mashed were equal to 2 sides or that the baked potatoes were anupcharge if over TWO DOLLARS! Guess theycost allot more than the instant. I have been disappointed the last two trips to the Cotton Patch. We ate there for my husband's birthday. It was a fiasco from start to finish. The waitress was new and did not write down our order. So guess how that turned out? Had to ask twice to get our rolls. My husband's steak which he ordered medium (pink) came out rare.The shrimp my husband ordered in addition to his steak were forgotten. We had to remind the waitress. The shrimp finally appeared at the end of the meal albeit grilled instead of fried as he ordered. Our teas were never refilled. And we like to never have gotten our check. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad which includes croutons. But, alas, no croutons on my salad. When I asked about my croutons I was informed they were out of croutons, that late at night they often run out. Hmmmmm...it was only 6:00. You know when you have a salad that has a very few ingredients like the Caesar, you might want to mention to the customer the salad will come sans a main ingredient. Now, my husband will not let me complain when something is wrong. He just won't eat there again. But, once he was out the door, I did complain. This was a birthday meal and it was not a good experience. In all fairness, the manager ended up comping us the meal and I didn't feel one bit guilty about taking it because it was truly horrible. Today was the first time I've been back. I ordinarily love their Caesar salad. So, I ordered one again but with the caveat I did not want it if they were out of croutons again. Guess what? They were out of croutons AGAIN! And it was 1:00 in the afternoon. I just want to say management needs to get their act together. Be prepared and have sufficient ingredients! read more

The food is pretty awesome, but every waitress works this place like it is their first job. Take-out takes a long time, too. However, the quality of the food makes up for the waitresses complaining about their roommates. Cotton patch is pretty consistent food. Fried green tomatoes are incredible! I order them everytime. It is also great for kids. They have a good list of kids meals and choices. Avoid the pot roast and meatloaf and you will be fine on any other choices. read more

My wife and I were making a fast trip thru Stephenville and decided to try out this Cotton Patch on a Saturday. The food was really good and the service was top notch. I was really impressed.
