Today was my second visit to cotton patch and once again I was impressed with my food and enjoyed every bite. I have chicken fried chicken for a change because usually I would have gone with steak. I asked the waitress for her opinion and her suggestion turned out to be amazing. I chose to get mashed potatoes and green beans which too where amazing. Why I'm I giving this restaurant 4 starts you ask? Their ac was out and per waitress it's been out for a month if not longer. I cannot understand why a business does not think about it as a priority not just for clients but mostly beacuse their employees are working under those conditions on top of the kitchen heat. Weather was over 100 degrees today and they are still up and running as if nothing is wrong. I frequently go to Cotton Patch Cafe when I've got people visiting from out of town and I'm looking for a place to feed everyone (grandparents to grandkids) in a good atmosphere. I have been to this location several times in the past few months and I'm always consistently impressed by how fresh, fast and inexpensive the food is! Service is amazing start to finish: I'm not an old guy (I don't think) but I remember when every restaurant had service like this. It's especially great to see the genuine enthusiasm that comes from each and every employee. Food is great, can't go wrong with the chicken fried steak, but I recommend branching out and trying something new. If you go as a party of two be warned: an appetizer and entree between two is usually more than enough food and can be had for about $15-$20: not bad for a sit down restaurant! read more

We used to go to Cotton Patch fairly often, now not so much. The tilapia is consistently good as is the potato cheese soup. They do an excellent job on their to-go orders and have never forgotten anything. The only reason I give one star is bc the food was decent but this facility was disgusting! It's 7:30 on a Saturday night and should be packed but I see why it's not. There has to be at least 10+ servers and the restaurant is slow and filthy! The floors are COVERED in food and trash! Wanted to try something new or some place we hadn't been to in a long time so we decided on Cotton Patch. I went once to the Lewisville location about 8 years ago and haven't been back since. We ordered the fried onion string appetizer. Not very good - onion rings/strings should be crispy. These were limp and soggy. I ordered the friend catfish and shrimp dinner, cajun style. The shrimp were ok but the catfish was horrible. Worst catfish I ever tried. Didn't eat it. Cajun style just means that they dump an enormous amount of seasoned salt on your food. It was WAY over seasoned and WAY to salty. It will be more than 8 years before we try Cotton Patch again. read more

I am a homeschooling mom of middle-school aged boys. We ate at this Cotton patch one night for dinner. The GM used some very bad language toward our sweet young waitress. This dynamic presents a complex picture of both the GM and Cotton Patch, as the food and service was excellent, but the GM's big mouth basically negates that. All the servers were excellent! I would never have given only 2 stars to Cotton Patch, but the GM deserves it. I don't mind a no nonsense boss. My old job at the fish market for example had the most stern supervisor possible, but he led by example exactly as he should have. Nothing rang false about him. The filth out of the GM's mouth rang false from the start, and never improved. He seemed determined to punish the poor girl for enjoyment. She actually appeared to be on the cusp of making an independent life apart from his sad store , with a possibility of happiness. His cursing reverberated around a lot, but his words didn't hit on anything important. I thought it was just a clumsy attempt to seem like the head honcho. To suddenly throw such a fit over something so small felt tacked on and phony. And to do this in front of children and the elderly was the most ridiculous, uncharacteristic contrivance in the history of history. We go to Cotton Patch Cafe in Highland Village 2-3 times a month. Generally, the food is good, the service is efficient and the ambience pleasant. For some reason, a number of times when we have had friends join us, everything in the restaurant falls apart. That was the case tonight. We invited two friends to join us for dinner at this restaurant. It took 45 minutes for the food to appear. Then the order was wrong. One of our friends got Chicken when she had ordered Salmon salad. We waited for another 45 minutes and her food never came. Then the bill was incorrect. The waiter promised that the manager would come to the table who decided not to come. The place was mostly empty at dinner time. So unfortunate that the kitchen staff let all the wait staff look bad and the manager did not have the courage to face the customers. The food is ok, but the service is SO BAD it's hard to give anything more than one star. We've done to go twice in the past couple of months and each visit was just as bad. It wouldn't allow us to order online, no big deal, but the person who took our order over the phone couldn't have been less interested or more rude. When we went to pick up 15 minutes after ordering, we sat there another 15 minutes without being greeted. This has been consistent both times. Usually the Cotton Patch is our regular, predictable, go to place to eat and I was looking forward to treating my friend today for carry out. Only I think some aliens must have set up shop. First, everything was cold. Not lukewarm but cold, from entrees to sauces. We asked for lots of butter, cheese and bacon for the baked potato. We got all the toppings instead mixed with sour cream and chives so for her it was "ruined." The "I've never had any better" fried cold pickles were missing your really good Ranch dressing for dipping. My cold fried chicken tacos were accompanied by cold chipotle and queso sauces. There were no napkins or plastic ware. It just wasn't even close to the usual. At 2:40 pm I called and spoke to very friendly Lisa who said the mgr had stepped out and would be due any minute. I love me some Cotton Patch. So far this is the best service most attentive manager and cleanest Cotton Patch ever. On a Friday night when they were very busy they still accommodated 12 of us handily . all the food came out properly hot and to our Direction this may become my regular Friday night dinner. Took my husband and 3 sons to lunch at 1230 today. They were maybe 15% full, a young girl who looked thrilled to be there sat us in a big corner booth. Waited between 15 and 20 minutes and no greeting, no drink order. Waiters for other tables came and went and nobody looked our way. Extremely slow service. It gets busy in the restaurant and it sounds like indoor recess at an elementary school. You can see the kitchen from some of the tables, and I was disturbed to see food being handled by bare hands. I also watched as they sprayed a cleaning agent on a counter that had clean drinking glasses stacked on it. Some of the spray got on the glasses, and the employee didn't seem to care. We've all eaten at a Cotton Patch Café, I'm sure. And we all know the food is really pretty good. But I will never again attempt to dine at the location on Long Prairie Rd., (behind Chili's). We walked in this location at 5:15 tonight (the place was about half full) and upon seating we noticed many tables that needed to be cleaned. We sat for over 10 minutes when the manager came to take our drink order. At 5:30 we noticed 2 waiters coming in a side exit door. One of them came to our table and brought us our drinks. By 5:45 (been there for 1/2 hr. now) I flagged him down to please take our food order. At 6:00 our waiter came over to apologize for the delay, problems in the kitchen, blah, blah, blah. At 6:15 we were told our ticket had been lost. We left (hungry) needless to say, having wasted an hour of our time and with a line out the door. Apparently there are staffing issues at this location as we've always experienced slow service there, but tonight was our final attempt. So in a nutshell, Good Food (if you can get it) but Terrible Service! Pick a different location if you wanna be fed! read more
