My mom came over for a visit but she tends to get kind of restless when she is bored. And when she gets restless, she has the urge to rearrange my whole apartment. So the plan was to walk, walk a lot, to walk enough to wear mom out :) However, walking isn't something my mom does often and she thought she could just wear heels while going for a long walk. Guess what? Ten minutes into the walk, we were on the look out for replacement comfy shoes and Cottoncake was the 1st eligible store on our route. I was hesitant of going in, expecting it to be an hipster store with exorbitant prices not offering the kind of sneakers my mom would buy, but think again. Cotton cake is a small café/shop in the nice neighborhood of De Pijp. Everything is white, everything is quiet, it results in this soft and relaxing atmosphere. Very nice. It is so quiet and discreet that I went by this place countless times without noticing it... what a shame. I went there for lunch and I must say I really liked it. The food was really good, with lots of veggies for a healthy meal! I had the tartine with roasted eggplant, mozzarella di bufala and pesto - for pesto lovers only, as this one has a pretty strong taste! totally fine for me, loved it. my friend had the frittata which was also good. I just had a quick look at the clothes on my way out, and it made me want to come back with more time. pretty nice stuff. Also, they have free wifi, making it also a nice place to have coffee while working on your laptop. read more

I'm glad we came in here. A very cute cozy place to grab something to eat. I had the walnut banana nut bread. I Love my gluten, but this GF banana bread was really good. The service is excellent and the two ladies helping us were sweet. I wld recommend to Stop in if you want to rest your feet and enjoy some grub. read more

Cotton Cake is an interesting retail shop to go for lunch and coffee. A cute place to relax and enjoy a nice organic lunch in the Pijp. Atmosphere is pretty relax and comfortable. I met a few friends here for a quick bite. Their clothes line has an interesting Scandinavian fashion style to it. Definitely a place worth checking out for lunch with a small group of friends. read more

Wow! Such a cool place. Their clothes, expensive as they may be, are pretty awesome! Trendy, chic and great quality. This everything-white space has a cafe on the mezzanine. They have gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Which is great! I had their raw spring rolls with a peanut sauce. Very yummy, really healthy. And a brownie (gluten free) for dessert, never had such a chewy brownie, yummy! Really cool spot for coffee or shopping. read more

We ordered a few light items to satisfy our morning hunger. This place was very chic. Beautiful clothes and atmosphere. Surprisingly, the food was sooo flavorful. We are so glad we found it on Yelp!!! I ordered the Butternut Squash Soup. It was full of mouthwatering spices. One of the best soups that I have ever had, hands down! Cottoncake is really my kind of place! This concept store has such an unique and creative vibe. Even though the street were it is located, near the albert cuyp market, is already cool, this place still boosts it up a little extra. You can come here for some fashionable shopping but the best thing is the little café in the back of the shop (and during the summer on the terrace in front). When I saw their menu on the website, and of course, the pictures on yelp, I knew I would like it. The food is healthy and delicious. The place is great for vegetarians. The lunch menu has various options like salads, sandwiches, yoghurt with granola, soup or omelets. They have pastries as well. The coffee is by Two For Joy and as an option you can even get your latte with almond milk (+0,40cents) which I love, since this is a healthier option than soy milk. Today I had their kale spinach salad with roasted pumpkin, goats cheese and pomegranate seeds. It was delicious! I also had a flat white and a vanilla iced latte. Both good. I will definitely come back to try some pastries as well. They looked interesting, like a flourless cake. Overall I just loved it a lot. WOW! From the food to the decor, Cotton Cake is incredible! At first glance Cotton Cake might just seem like an adorable boutique, but the food is excellent and is well worth your money and time. If you are gluten free or vegan, you are guaranteed to find plenty of options that are not only delicious, but super healthy and beautiful too! Awesome place to browse around for some fashion and accessories, the best part however is the small cafe that's in the back! Super cute, a tad bit small but that adds to the overall comfy-ness of it. MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EXPERIENCE FROM AMSTERDAM! Their breakfast was fantastic, had a great latte (with a cute little brownie!) and their "I want it all" option. Everything tasted fresh, was presented beautifully and of course the location and ambiance is everything. I loved a lot of the brands they carry in the store, and went home with a few purchases as well. The employees there were so friendly and welcoming. Not intimidating at all, and I love that their concept and menu change frequently. Any fashion lover should come and experience this for themselves. Super cute and cozy cafe. The decor is absolutely beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The white decorations, exposed brick and modern details all add up to an overall lovely store and restaurant. The downstairs is a tiny boutique with lots of cozy sweaters and delicate jewelry. Upstairs in a loft are 3 small tables and a small couch seating area for eating. We went around 10:30 and were the first ones to arrive. Service was quick and the waiter was very friendly. I started with a decaf latte with almond milk. It was good, not great, but warm and lightly sweet. The coffee flavor was definitely secondary and not strong enough for my liking. For my meal, I got the smoothie bowl which was cool, creamy, sweet and slightly crunchy from the muesli topping. The pomegranate seeds also made a lovely topper. I went with a group and we also spilt the banana bread which was excellent. They toast it so the outside is slightly crispy and the inside is warm and soft. The bread is just sweet enough with a definite banana flavor. I'd definitely be back for another yummy brunch or breakfast! read more
