Chat with the farmers who stop buy nearly daily to tend to things they will give you farm fresh eggs even take you on a hay ride. I got to drive the tractor...felt like a kid again! We were here in the winter time so the gardens were dead but you could tell come springtime and summer it would be an amazing place to spend some time outdoors. The room was super nice and the cottage hosts were very friendly and nice to deal with. The only thing I would caution you on is to not barge into the area where it says Entrance. That lead you into a porch like area with a second door that leads inside to what might be the hosts residence. When we went to open the second door we were met with strong verbal cues to stop and sign the guest book. It was as if they didn't want us to enter any further. Come to find out this may have been there personal residence. The breakfast was amazing too. We had the raspberry clafouti and was super delicious. It's not something we would have ordered on our own but when we tasted it we couldn't get enough. The rooms came with almost everything you would need to include a corkscrew a couple of wine glasses a refrigerator microwave coffee etc. I would highly recommend this place. You need to come here with the expectation and understanding that these homes are a century old. They maintain them and keep them looking historic. That's the charm and appeal of these rentals. This is not a 5* Hyatt so the other reviews that bash this place need to temper their expectations. The location location is perfect. A short walk to the park and beach. There is a road that takes you along the homes to the conference center and beach. The pool is only open in the summer. Love watching the sunset from the beach here. The home is old and floorboards squeak. But that should be expected. Decor is in keeping with the history of the building. Board games were available and a book on the history of the base and homes was a cool read.

We stayed in Unit 8, and chose it specifically because it said there was a shower/tub combo. While I would have enjoyed a soak in a big clawfoot tub, I wanted to make sure my grandparents were comfortable getting in and out of wherever we were bathing. It was perfect, and would be perfect for those with kids too. There are plenty of easily accessible trails with great views right out the front door. The kitchen was big and well stocked with cooking supplies, but we only ever used it to cook breakfast. We would often drive into nearby Coupeville for lunch and dinner, and there were plenty of great things to eat there! It's also within a very short drive of the trails at Eby's Landing. The views are amazing. It was still cool when we visited, but we could see how it could get hot. You don't really need A/C up in the Northwest, but a fan would be nice! We're used to sleeping with a fan, so we had to use a fan app on our phone because it's so quiet out there. The WiFi was good for what little we used it for (checking email and facebook mostly). Saw a lot of wildlife, including a mama deer and her two fawns. Overall, we had a very great time and hope to come back.

It's a comfy peaceful nights rest for all three of us. An important pet rule; although it should be common sense if you're a responsible pet owner: "don't leave your dog alone in your room!" Service at the front desk and housekeeping are genuinely friendly and accommodating.

After we arrived the couple in the room next to us went into their room and we realized we could hear everything they said. I quickly struck up a conversation with my partner so that they would also know the walls didn't provide privacy. Those neighbors were awesome and were quiet and polite the entire time. Unfortunately, the neighbors upstairs went out to party and came back between 12am and 1am... The first person clomping up the stairs woke me and was slightly annoying, but when the drunk people started arriving giggling, talking loudly, and falling around up the stairs - that was annoying! I don't know if it was the same group or other guests, but after being woke up the 4th or 5th time - I was pretty frustrated and had trouble getting back to sleep. I told the front desk clerk in the morning, and he apologized saying he'd talk to the guests staying upstairs. Instead of enjoying Port Townsend the next day, we just drove the 2 hours home in the morning so we could get some sleep. II doubt I'll splurge (nearly $300 for the sleepless night) at this hotel again due to the noise issues. Maybe the cabins would be a better experience. And likely this was just situational - if all the guests were like the people in the room next to us, we would have had a much better experience. The house has a ramp from the private driveway and a step-in shower which are( perfect for my 86-year old mom who has some mobility issues), plenty of beds for us and our companions, two nice full bathrooms plus a half bath, and a big great room living area with a nice functional kitchen, dining room, and family room. The yard is spacious and even has a play area with swings and slides that were great fun to explore with my 5 year-old great nephew. The Admiral House isn't fancy, but it's clean and nicely decorated. We'll return again and highly recommend this if you want to stay in a nice home within walking distance of downtown Coupeville.
