Just my humble opinion mind you. Gus gets a small bag of high quality hand made cookies with his name on it. He gets a blue pillow to his size and his own water and food dishes are provided on a doggy mat. Also included are number of doggy's towels for tidying up! It's a comfy peaceful nights rest for all three of us. An important pet rule; although it should be common sense if you're a responsible pet owner: "don't leave your dog alone in your room!" Service at the front desk and housekeeping are genuinely friendly and accommodating.

After we arrived the couple in the room next to us went into their room and we realized we could hear everything they said. I quickly struck up a conversation with my partner so that they would also know the walls didn't provide privacy. Those neighbors were awesome and were quiet and polite the entire time. Unfortunately, the neighbors upstairs went out to party and came back between 12am and 1am... The first person clomping up the stairs woke me and was slightly annoying, but when the drunk people started arriving giggling, talking loudly, and falling around up the stairs - that was annoying! I don't know if it was the same group or other guests, but after being woke up the 4th or 5th time - I was pretty frustrated and had trouble getting back to sleep. I told the front desk clerk in the morning, and he apologized saying he'd talk to the guests staying upstairs. Instead of enjoying Port Townsend the next day, we just drove the 2 hours home in the morning so we could get some sleep. II doubt I'll splurge (nearly $300 for the sleepless night) at this hotel again due to the noise issues. Maybe the cabins would be a better experience. And likely this was just situational - if all the guests were like the people in the room next to us, we would have had a much better experience. Pros: - Friendly Staff - Dog friendly rooms - with nice dog beds and a dog welcome basket that includes dog treats, poo bags, info on dog friendly businesses in the area, and towels to wipe the dog paws - Comfortable bed and pillows - Great location - On site parking Cons: - Lack of sound proofing - you hear everything around you - Expensive

They lost a lot of points because of no one on site in the middle of the night to deal with a noise problem. Two nights in a row we were awakened at 2 in the morning when the guest below us turned their TV on so loud that we could clearly hear the dialog of the show and commercials. This lasted until 5 in the morning when they turned it off. Sure, occasionally you'll run into an inconsiderate guest. The next night, the same thing happened. I finally had enough at 4 in the morning and went to find the room and complain. When I knocked and knocked, no answer. I asked a woman in the lobby if the room was hers and she finally said it was but refused to turn the TV down. I used the phone in the lobby to contact the manager for late check ins, yet it didn't connect me with anyone.

This is a big deal to someone suseptible to strong odors. The quality furniture, pictures and TV with tons of cable stations are a huge bonus. Absolutely spotless without even a discoloration mark on the grout in the bathroom. The carpet was clean, too. The staff are warm and friendly and we were surprised to have bagels and muffins at check out. All of this with the low price tag makes it a real bargain!

We were here in the winter time so the gardens were dead but you could tell come springtime and summer it would be an amazing place to spend some time outdoors. The room was super nice and the cottage hosts were very friendly and nice to deal with. The only thing I would caution you on is to not barge into the area where it says Entrance. That lead you into a porch like area with a second door that leads inside to what might be the hosts residence. When we went to open the second door we were met with strong verbal cues to stop and sign the guest book. It was as if they didn't want us to enter any further. Come to find out this may have been there personal residence. The breakfast was amazing too. We had the raspberry clafouti and was super delicious. It's not something we would have ordered on our own but when we tasted it we couldn't get enough. The rooms came with almost everything you would need to include a corkscrew a couple of wine glasses a refrigerator microwave coffee etc. I would highly recommend this place. I have to stress that the house is just gorgeous, and we have free access to all but private quarters. The setting is so peaceful, and it is lovely watching the horses. We had the Capt Don Suite, which was so nice. Two beds so we could get into a fight and sleep apart if we wanted to. (We didn't.) The suite is tricked out with all things pony. Very comfortable. We liked the place so much we have advanced reserved the Gallant Best suite for an upcoming stay, complete with ample living space, a crystal fireplace and hot tub all to our own on a little outside patio. Gregg is an amazing host and cook to boot! His breakfasts are generous and amazingly delicious--and on our three-day stay, nothing cooked for us was the same, so it was a joy to eat there. Plus Gregg is so fun to talk to. We enjoyed our breakfast time with him so much. I am not into B&Bs so much as I always feel like I am imposing on our hosts. Not so here. It was just comfortable, warm, welcoming and wonderful. There--a bunch of W-wonderfulness and wonders.

The parking location for hotel guest is odd and in reality, can only fit two cars. So, just find a spot, park it and leave it. Take advantage and walk everywhere. The Digs: There's no attendant, so you need to book in advance with the lovely manager, Marilou. She really cares about the hotels she manages and truly wants your stay to be a memorable one. Upon arrival you will get codes for both the building and your room. Speaking of the room, when you enter, you are greeted by music playing on the radio and a few lights on. A nice, simple touch, especially after a long day of traveling. The old hotel is super clean and cozy, yet modern. It almost feels like you're staying at a friends house. This is definitely a gem in Port Townsend and I would not hesitate to stay here again. The minor "constructive criticisms" that I have are to give a good corner scrubbing along the baseboards in the bathroom and to keep the soap and shampoo fairly full to give the "illusion" that your guests are the first ones to stay there.

If you arrive late, you can park and check in in the morning (now that we've been doing this for a while, that seems to be the norm). Friendly staff, gorgeous views, beach access, base police make regular rounds, and the bathroom facilities are clean and warm. It's nice to take a shower in an area big enough that if you drop something, you don't have to get out of the shower to pick it up. ;-) The dogs loved the path and the nearness of the beach for potty potty breaks. Man, this place is so windy. If I might make a recommendation...keep your awning in. Only put it out when you plan to sit under it...otherwise, keep it in. Prices are competitive. There is a playground and giant chess set. BBQ's provided at each site. Back in, pull through, 50 amp, 30 amp, tent camping, yurts, oh...and fun "art" installations along the path. If you're into tetanus PT, there's a pull-up area covered in rust!

The Whidbey Scenic Isle Way is a nice stop to take pictures of the shoreline just past Fort Casey State Park. People were fishing and even scuba diving while I was walking around. The whole coastline is refreshing and a great way to put things in perspective. I enjoyed being there.
