They even provided us with a list of the restaurants and things to do in town. The view from the balcony outside our room was chef's kiss! The bed was comfortable, the tv had Roku, and it was fun to play around with the colors of the flames in the "fireplace." The room was a bit small, but that didn't matter so much, since this is a bed and breakfast stay. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Breakfast entrees change every day, and on our day we had a hearty, flavorful bacon quiche. They did offer other options, like spinach quiche, or a gluten free breakfast (I think it was an omelette that day), which is very considerate. We also were given a fruit and yogurt bowl, and what I think was chocolate chip pound cake. Coffee was continuously poured into our cups. I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Coupeville!

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with such grace & warmth. The rooms were exquisite with everything you could ever need and more! Seeing the view of the town and the water took our breath away! The breakfast that was provided was masterful! We were lucky to enjoy it all in such a beautiful setting. Perfect location as well! We walked easily down to the water off the center of town, shops, coffee & had a wonderful dinner only a block away at Ciao, which we had great Italian Food in a warm friendly environment (Try the Cioppino & Pizza, it's to die for!). I can't say it enough, this is one inn you dont want to skip if you're even on the Olympic Peninsula. and wonderful staff will have you feeling like a VIP. The common area is beautifully and stylishly furnished. They will supply you with clean, warm blankets to snuggle up to as you sit by the fire pit for Happy hour, which takes place every afternoon. The breakfasts are very tasty, and it's clear that great pride goes into their preparation and presentation! And might I say the garden area overlooking the sea is a slice of paradise. The grounds are lush and private enough that you're not running into other guests very often. The hubby and I loved the Lavender suite, which has a great view of the garden and sea. The bath was spacious and upscale as well. If you need ideas and suggestions for how to explore Olympic National Park, just ask. You won't be disappointed with the recommendations you receive. Yes, you will pay more than you might at a local hotel. But the experience here at Colette's makes it worth every penny. Don't ever change!

Would have gotten 5 stars except for the following; 1. Each time you come or go you have to get out of your car and manually open/close the gate. For what they charge for rooms they should have an electric gate and give people the code. 2. Breakfast is only served at 9AM, and often you want to get out early to beat the crowds to hiking/scenic places. 3. The ice machine has been broken for quite some time, so if you want ice later in the evening you need to hope the house manager is around. Otherwise it is a wonderful place to stay.

Betty has thought of virtually everything a traveler could need and guests get free reign of the upstairs during their stay. I love that Betty welcomes people to take home unfinished books from her library - "books are meant to be read, not sit on a shelf," she says. Breakfast was made at the prearranged time convenient for us (so appreciated!) and was delicious and abundant. She sat and chatted with us during breakfast and is so personable. We had to depart on a jet plane that afternoon after our 4-day trip to the Evergreen State and had a few bottles of wine that we hadn't enjoyed so I offered them to Betty and she even suggested she could take their value off our bill, although I refused because they were a gift to her for our lovely stay. Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

Value was fair. We paid $828 for two nights in the Indian Summer Suite ($918 with tax). For this the missus and I got a private bedroom with a queen bed, and our children each got their own beds in the kitchen/living area. The single bathroom and shower stall was adequate for our needs and we had a parking spot underneath the unit. Caroline, who has owned and operated the B&B for 8 years, was consistently communicative, warm and helpful. She baked cookies for us both evenings, and served us healthy and filling breakfasts. She also offered good advice on where to go for dinner and sightseeing. Bonus: the grounds are captivating, with deer and a fish pond on the premises. We would be happy to return.
