Stayed in the Onward room at anchorage inn last night and it was absolutely lovely, despite a power outage and stormy day on Whidbey Island. Maggie welcomed me with sunset chat, showed me my room, and provided me with a flashlight before she set up the generator. Enjoyed chatting with the other visitors staying there, girl talk late into the evening. As a Navy gal myself, I really loved chatting with Maggie who was a pioneer in the Navy herself. I've lived in Coupeville and Oak Harbor for 4 years always wanting to stay at the Inn. Moving away today and enjoyed my last night on the island at the inn. Will be back!

This place is the cutest! The Innkeepers are very nice and welcoming as soon as we walked in. The view from the Inn is great and it's only a short walk down to the water front from here. The air base close was practicing carrier landings in the afternoon and later that night, but it wasn't all night so it really wasn't all that bothersome. And the sunset we got up here was amazing! So much open sky! If we're ever out this way again, we're staying here for sure!

My husband surprised me for our Wedding Anniversary with an over night stay in Coupeville, WA at this lovely B&B. When we arrived they have a lovely bottle of champagne chilling for us with a couple of glasses and box of chocolates waiting in our room. The room was very nicely appointed with a little fridge socked with drinks. There was a coffee maker and water in the room and a microwave. The bathroom was a little tight, but was very nice with a large tub. The view was spectacular and when we woke up the next morning and the sun was shining and the window was open - it was hard to look away. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a bit dated. Lots of floral wall paper and frilly curtains, but it fits the image of what I would image staying in a doll house would be like. Very relaxing nevertheless. Breakfast was ok. We were served a bowl of fresh fruit and then some French toast stuffed with a dollop of cream cheese and jam with a couple of heat and served sausages. I was hoping for something more savory - as there was quiet a bit of sweets. I hadn't experienced sliced pound cake served at breakfast before - but my husband enjoyed it. They had fresh fruit juices on the table and fresh coffee and hot tea on the buffet. The host and hostess were lovely. We were greeted with a warm reception when we arrived and shown our room, how the TV and whirl pool tub worked. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

I wanted her to relax and recharge. She loved it. The pros: no traffic noise or other patrons. Lots of wildlife and even 2 friendly goats Hot tub, wood stove, king size bed, pull out spare bed, cooler size fridge, pool table, close to town and ferry The cons: jets don't really work on hot tub. He was planning to have someone out to repair the temp dial- not sure if this will affect the jets. It's an older tub. Still gets hot though! Pull out bed was unusable. He made it up nicely, even with a chocolate on the pillow. The frame is just too worn. I paid for the pullout but ended up sharing the other bed for the sake of my back Conflict- the room is non smoking but when I asked he clarified that my mom could smoke outside if she didn't leave her butts around. She threw them away inside as there was no outside trash and after leaving I received an email mentioning the smell from the trash. Not sure what else she should have done here? Also keep in mind his punctuality. We agreed to breakfast at 9:30 and mom went up at 9:33. She tells me he seemed agitated that she was late. We would have skipped the continental breakfast entirely except there is no in room coffee maker. He did lay out a nice variety for us for breakfast foods. In the email about the smoke smell he also implied that I underpaid. This was frustrating since he seemed fine when we were there. I checked my receipt and had paid what he asked (125/night+$10/night for pullout). I paid $276 to include tax as he asked. From his email I now gather that the tax was $26. He said he hadn't counted my cash but my receipt reflects the total amount so that isn't the issue. I'm disapointed to end the trip on this note after enjoying ourselves so much over the weekend. Renting here is like paying to rent a friend's room. Lots of rustic charm and great view, just seems to struggle with straddling the professional/friendly line. I appreciate him opening his home. I don't expect to return after the conflicts.

Unfortunately for me, the dates I needed were unavailable, but she gave me several other places to try and was incredibly sweet and lovely to talk with. After greeting us warmly at the door, Mrs. Bronson sat us down in the parlor for tea and a chat about our plans for the trip. She also listed off a mind-boggling number of options for our two breakfasts; we settled on applecakes with cinnamon and waffles with real cherries jubilee, if you can believe it. The food was delicious, served in formal courses on beautiful china and crystal. The house itself is a literal treasure trove, spilling over with the Bronsons' international collections of books, knickknacks, furniture and sundries. The overall effect is somewhere between a Studio Ghibli film and the set of "Practical Magic". It's very understandable that they can't host small children! For older guests, though, it's difficult to pry yourself out of the building to see the other sights on the island. We enjoyed viewing antique photographs on a Victorian-era stereoscope and listening to a music box with swappable punched-metal discs, and spent a pleasant evening sipping port and playing chess in the upstairs parlor, feeling very posh. Between the delightful host and hostess, the wonderful food, and the completely unique furnishings, our time at the Compass Rose was unforgettable. We'll definitely be staying here again.

we will be dreaming about this place for the rest of forever and that is not an exaggeration…read more ok so the backstory: we did NOT plan to stay here. my partner got a bad migraine on our drive home to Seattle and we suddenly needed a dog-friendly place to stay, immediately, on short notice. we found captain whidbey in a bit of a desperate scramble and oh my god it literally changed our lives. we stayed in one of the cabins and it was PERFECTION. like every single detail: the local treats they leave out, the robes, the fireplace, the cozy bed with a view of the actual ocean. i just laid there in disbelief (with a big ol smile) that this was real life. stunning doesn't even cover it. and THEN. the restaurant. oh my GODDDDDD. the cherry on top of the most perfect accidental stay. the food was creative and beautifully executed and the service was just incredible: so warm and personal. they were SO accommodating to my many dietary restrictions without a single moment of awkwardness, which honestly made me want to cry a little (in a grateful way). also!!! BREAKFAST DELIVERED TO YOUR CABIN IN THE MORNING!!! they just bring it right to your door and you eat it in your robe by the fire and look at the ocean and you think "yes. this is it. (in the words of the wise Hannah Montana) this is the life." my partner and i loved it so much we are now genuinely considering having our wedding here. will start saving up now (lol) but truly if you ever have the chance to stay here, do not hesitate for even one second. just be warned it will change your life and you will be able to think of nothing else for weeks (possibly even months) after

Service was good but they were very busy and seemed short staffed so drink orders were not speedy. However, they weren't so slow you felt totally abandoned! We complained that the bed was super hard and felt like sleeping on the floor so they offered a refund which was nice for the rest of the time but we could not afford to change so we stayed and dealt with it which I would have left a four star review for the customer service but after finding out they blocked us, it is the true one star review because of multiple factors. They are not insulated well so you can hear everything your neighbor does so we didn't sleep well because of the bed plus noise. The place had no silverware at all yet it had a knife and cutting board with wine opener? It was also dirty, we had to clean the sink which had brown crud all over the bottom which wiped away easily showing the cleaning service does the absolutely bare minimum and likely doesn't really scrub anything, the tea kettle had white crust all on the inside and same with the coffee maker so I had to clean both myself as well. The heater was great but the chairs for the table were super unstable and cannot support an adult. The view was great despite being blocked by power lines. Parking was perfect. We would not stay here again given the owners poor ability to accept anything but a five star review and the uncomfortable bed.

We stayed this weekend in the Shaharazad suite. My favorite part was it had a giant jacuzzi tub, a huge double headed walk in shower and also a deck to enjoy the views from! Great find in Coupeville!
