The awe inspiring beauty of Deception Pass Bridge and it's massive state park surrounds the RV park along with the beautiful Cornet Bay across the street. This amongst so much more makes exploring on nature walks, canoeing, boating, hiking... a hop, skip & a jump away. Almost literally. You can't help but enjoy all that comes with this location. North Whidbey RV Park is clean and the spacious campsites are well maintained by the conscientious staff. We've had the pleasure of getting to know almost all of them. In this day and age, we find it uncommon in our travels, to find people that care and take their jobs seriously. Which always entail following the rules & guidelines of an establishment for the comfort & safety of all who patronize a business. The staff here are friendly, professional, incredibly kind and... brace yourself, they follow the rules to a T. (Insert gasp here.) Sometimes people may feel fudging the rules a little isn't a big deal for THEIR own "comfort". However, the rules are made for the overall experience of ALL to feel safe & enjoy the location that sticks to the rules. Sadly, this manages to ruffle some feathers for those that fail to consider the enjoyment of others, basically self absorbed & see things only from their own perspective. Now having said that, there is always 2 sides of an experience to see the bigger picture. There was 2- 1 star reviews left by 2 people from the same party describing events that were incredibly untruthful. In fact spun to paint a narrative. @Clysta F. & Emmy mentions the dog park and the "lady" across from the dog park... I take my dog to said dog park upward of 3+ times a day. On the day Clysta mentions, I arrived at the dog park when these kids were already there. They were throwing a football to each other in the fenced-in dog park. They did not have a dog. Mind you, there are large open, beautifully maintained grass areas on either side of the dog park. But these kids chose to be in the fenced dog area. Even after I took my dog in to throw the frisbee for him, they stayed. This did make it awkward to play with my dog. When the ball went over the tall fence, the boy climbed over it to retrieve it rather than walk out the gate. When he attempted to do so a 2nd time the aforementioned lady told him not to climb the fence & pointed out the obvious, they were in the dog park, "for the dogs". The boy (I'd say teenager) disrespectfully told her that he, "identifies as a dog". He was incredibly disrespectful from then on. They then left the fenced dog park & played where they should've been playing all along, the side lawns of the fenced area. Then another young woman & a little boy joined them, & they came back into the dog park (sans a dog) where the young man attempted to climb the fence AGAIN. For a 2nd time, he was told not to climb the fence. He then responded, "I can do anything I want too!" This is when our lady's husband came out of their trailer & clarified to him not to do that again. When they learned that they were speaking to one of the employees of the park, said party of 4 tucked tail & left immediately. So the lady across the way from the dog park is in fact, "a lady" but one that stands by the rules. Her husband carries many jobs around the park who also stands by the rules. In a short period of time, I've grown rather fond of this lady & her gentleman. So no need to be weary of the lady across from the dog park unless you break the rules. As for the "story" regarding being charged for dog poop left on their campsite... This too is a rule. I personally am known at a few campsites, as the "Poop Nazi" (proud of it!) because there's nothing that irritates me more than people who do not pick up after their dogs. The caveat in Clysta's case... Apparently unbeknownst to her, there are surveillance cameras all around the park for the safety & again comfort for all who stay at this lovely RV Park. So this "picture" that she states was "supposedly" taken, was in fact surveillance. The $25 charge was legitimate and warranted. I do not have patience for people that spin stories to fit their agenda & especially to leave a one star rating that is not valid nor remotely true. Ultimately what they do is paint a false picture that may cause people to miss out on enjoying a reasonably priced camping experience that comes with the surrounding amenities & beauty, ultimately a safe environment & lovely memories to be made with their children who would love this place. So if you are reading this to gain a perspective on whether or not to try out this establishment, I highly encourage you do so. You won't be disappointed, unless you don't like following rules & guidelines that ultimately benefit you and all who stay and/or you have a child that identifies as a fence climbing dog.

Amenities they had were washers/dryers, bathrooms with showers, playground, easy accessible parking lot for guests, clubhouse, and excellent customer service. Also if you dont have a Trailer/RV, looks like they also have cabins they rent out so be sure to ask. This park is clean and one of the prettiest RV Parks we've been to. We will be coming back and staying every time we go to Whidbey Island.

This is a beautiful park with gorgeous views, beach access, boat ramp with ample trailer parking, a small campground etc. The loop walk is a favorite and there are no cars allowed before 10 am. There are also plenty of trails to explore if the paved loop isn't one's thing.

But this park is more about the sunset. I was in town as a day trip and the weather was so nice that I wanted to check out the sunset. We sat there people watching on the bench as the sun started sinking over the water. People walked out down the pier and it made for really nice pictures. Once the sun went down, people left because there was a chill in the air, but until that moment, the sunset was magical. Definitely glad we hung around for twilight.

What sets this little park from the rest is the peace and tranquility I felt there. As an older woman camping alone, I felt completely safe. The permanent residents next door, Dennis and his wife, add a personal touch every day with little gifts of welcome. A most rewarding experience.

The road to the camp is a bit of a trekk. It's long, windy, and much of it dirt with pot holes. There's also no cell service out there so be sure to communicate with anyone you're meeting shortly after turning off highway 2. The camp sites themselves are good sized, we easily fit 2 tents and our cars. There was a fire pit and a picnic table too. We had access to the river and enjoyed a nice cold plunge on a warm day. There were several hikes in the area to choose from but we couldn't turn down the incredible Lake Blanca, whose trailhead was only a few minutes away. We look forward to visiting this campground again next year.

The campground at Troublesome Creek is an absolute gem. Located about two hours from any…read moresignificant population base, accessible off of a (mostly) dirt forest service road, you'll marvel at the serenity of this idyllic campground. There are two sides to this campground, an east and a west loop. My spot was on the east loop, space 15 and I'd definitely recommend the spaces on the east loop, as they give you ample privacy with equally ample access to the creek and the North Fork of the Skykomish River. No power hookups means you can set the devices aside and worry little about what's happening in the city. Out here, the entertainment is happening in nature. Views of surrounding peaks, the rush of the water as it flows past and as night falls, the dotting of stars in the inky black sky will give you exactly what you need before heading back to civilization. Nature truly is the best. I'll be back to this campground again, no doubt.

Fort Worden is the quintessential WSP (Washington State Parks) experience. Set on an old military…read morefort, it features historic buildings, batteries, beaches, outdoor spaces, trails, and campgrounds for visitors of all ages. I hadn't been here in decades, but recently visited for a few fun days of glamping in the ol' RV. Sadly, despite securing a coveted campsite reservation 9 months ahead, we weren't able to book at the uber-appealing beachside campground; but we found the upper forest campground area just fine. The park itself is vast, clean, and well-staffed. It would be great for a day visit of exploring the beaches; but was also fun for a multi-day visit where we were able to ride our bikes around the park (and also, once, all the way to town!). We also enjoyed beers a couple of times at their on-site restaurant, Taps at the Guardhouse. And ate lunch along the water another day at their casual burger joint. If you're camping, they only take reservations (no walk-ins), and as long as you keep your camping receipt visible in your car, you don't need a Discover Pass during your visit. If visiting for the day, however, a Discover Pass is required. There's plenty of parking, and lots to do (including visiting a beautiful lighthouse). For less crowded beaches, their north beach area was a fun treat. We'll definitely be looking to book campsites at Fort Worden again!

Steve and I returned to Fort Worden State Park after coming here for the first time several years…read moreago. We came here with a relative who recently moved here and it was wonderful to walk around and talk along the beach... visit and catch up as we strolled up towards the lighthouse. It is spring so it was windy and a bit cold but with enough layers we were pretty comfortable on our short walk. Such a beautiful state park and definitely a "must" to visit while in Port Townsend!

Definitely bring a spare lure; our first attempt, we had to cut the line as it got snagged on some rocks. Saw a lot of people on the beach, enjoying a picnic or even kayaking out to crab boxes in the evening. Beautiful park overall. Make sure you're sure-footed if you're going to climb the rocks.

The beach park section of Larrabee park is gorgeous. There's ample parking, then a decent that's…read moreabout a 45 second walk to a grassy lawn and a beautiful stage built in the early 1900s. There were people performing music on the stage and park goers enjoying on the grass. Just to the left of the stage there's a path to the beach. Another 2-3 minute descent brings you to a trail going left and right. The path to the left is a short trail to a rock you can sit on and climb down to get to the water. Further that way there's another beach. The path to the right leads to a nice beach with a great view and a shade tree. There were some bugs in the washed up kelp, but nothing too bothersome imho. We had a stand up paddleboard so we used the path on the right after the stage area. I would recommend anyone bringing gear down (scuba, kayaks, paddleboards) to use this beach. Larger crafts can use the boat ramp just north of this beach, and you can drive right up to that ramp (north of the stage and parking area). It was a beautiful park and a great place to picnic, enjoy the water, and view the sunset!

For all it's worth, I will say this camp ground is amazing. My fiancé and I are full time RVers and decided a year ago we wanted to live here so they placed us on the waiting list. Once they called us we were ecstatic and we packed and moved out there. Sad sad days followed. I was diagnosed with PTSD from an incident that happened to me two years ago, add in the stress of moving, my fiancé's new job and all the changes and stressors that go along with those things and the result was, a major mental health crisis. Long story short, During the crisis I started screaming and crying and hyperventilating. Needless to say I scared my neighbors who called the police. Because of that disturbance we were asked to leave. It was heartbreaking but understandable. Having said all of that, our short tenure there was absolutely amazing. It's beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful (except for my screaming fit) . The laundry facility is awesome and economical, there's a wonderful dog park that we visited daily with our puppies. There's a small gym and pickle ball courts. There's a small walking trail and a play ground. They truly offer an amazing setting for anyone wanting a weekend getaway to full timers like us. The staff is friendly and professional. Although it saddens me that we had to move, I feel lucky to have had the experience to live there. If I had known that I was experiencing PTSD, I'd have gotten help much sooner so I could have avoided the scene that happened one fateful night. After kayaking in on a Friday night there wasn't a lot of space on the hill so we had to settle for the beach which was a bit windy but still nice. Most people had traveled by boat and brought more things but we kept it pretty light. Saturday morning a large group left opening up a site with great views for us to snag and it was beautiful waking up to such a lovely sight. There are two locations with composte toilets, sites with picnic tables and fire pits. No water access so pack your own and there's lots of mice so be sure to have a way to store your food. Also please make sure and pack out whatever you pack in as there are no garbage facilities or regular maintenance and we want to keep the mousey home nice, yah know?! When not gawking at the view there's lots to do on Cypress Island. We did a 5 mile out and back up to a little pond and airfield, there's a protected bay for swimming and paddle boarding, and lots of wild life to see. We watched eagles, sea otters, dolphins, sea lions, and tons of birds..and of course the mousies, while we visited. Lovely spot!
