Coming from out of state, we easily purchased a $10 Discovery Pass day ticket and parked in the lot. Using our flashlight on our phone, we explored the actual fort, built during World War II as a coastal defense. The fort is preserved well and you can go inside all the rooms and tunnels. There are also trails along cliffs lined with meadows and forests, offering beautiful views of the water. There are public restrooms near the parking lot.

Each family prepares a meal and we just have a good time. The Jenne Farm is a fantastic spot to let the woes of city life disappear while you sit on the porch of the 100 year old farm house. Take walks through the farm land and forests visit the beach nearby and mainly just relax. Chat with the farmers who stop buy nearly daily to tend to things they will give you farm fresh eggs even take you on a hay ride. I got to drive the tractor...felt like a kid again! There is no TV or Phone so bring a bunch of friends and just enjoy life!

And on that second trip we were blessed to see multiple orca pods socializing together! They had a mic that they inserted into the water, and we got to listen to them socialize. Throughout our trip we saw: egg yolk jellyfish, sea stars, crabs, harbor seals, blue heron, and a mussel farm. As an avid kayaker, it was nice to paddle unhurriedly and enjoy the scenery. Moreover, the tandem kayaks were easy to use. A big thanks to Sue and "the other guy" who took care of us from beginning to end.

This ended up more of a pleasant boat ride than whale watching as we didn't get to see any orcas (such a bummer!) and only got to see one single, elusive Humpback whale name Victory. I can't fault the tour for that, but it definitely impacts the experience. It was still a nice boat ride, with friendly staff onboard and the fortunate luck of sitting at the back of the boat next to a conservationist-led tour group with a lot of knowledge shared. On the brighter side, the weather was beautiful and we got to see two kinds of puffin and some sea lions as well. Just wish we got to see whales, instead of just one.
