Fort Ebey is a fun little stop on the way down or up Whidbey Island. There are two big holes where there used to be gun turrets from World War II. The range on the guns was rather short, and the turrets became useless once enemy ships had guns with a larger range. These are kind of cool, but the best part of the place is the cement bunker embedded into the mountain side. It is pitch dark in there, and thus absolutely spooky! We walked with only our cell phone to light the way and the kids screamed constantly! I really felt like we were somewhere where we shouldn't have been allowed. Maybe we were, and it is normally locked, who knows! There is a beach which is pretty cool simply because it's filled with tons of driftwood (see pic). Drive a few blocks north from the turrets to find it. You have to hike down to it, but you are rewarded by a gorgeous view and you will probably have the beach all to yourself.

This is a beautiful park with amazing views of Juan de Fuca. Highly recommend the bluff trail. Plan to spend at least two hours here. If you have more time 3-4 hours. You need to get a pass for parking which is $10 for a day pass and can be used at the other parks on the island too or $30 for an annual pass which allows you to park/enter any Washington state park. This is a great place to visit and should probably be #1 on places to visit on Whidbey. Visit the park and plan to have your lunch or dinner in Coupeville to get fresh and inexpensive mussels from penn cove. I would love to spend a weekend camping in this wonderful park.

Great camping spot! They have a beach (sand and rocks), a lake, picnic areas, and lots of trails (walking and bike). We have seen around 8 deer already and hiked 2 trails. The beach has a great view of the mountains. It was very quiet and peaceful last night. We slept great! The ranger office sells firewood, water, t-shirts, and more. Great find!!!

Amazing! Just breathtakingly beautiful! And not a ton of tourists so we were able to really enjoy!

We had a small family gathering here in June 2015. This park was amazing. Great views, not very crowded, BBQ grills at most picnic spots, restrooms, water. The old bunkers were pretty cool to explore. Overall just a really great place to take the family for a few hours. We'll be back.

Wife and I stopped here and explored the beach and the Fort. Be sure to take a flashlight and explore the underground bunker.

For Worden State Park used to be somewhere I visited frequently in 2015. It's one of those unique…read moreplaces that has the ability to blend history and scenery so seamlessly that is stays with you forever. The historic military structures and preserved officer dwellings create a fun sense of stepping into the past. I did feel like that the park had a sense of weight to, in a super natural way if you catch my drift. I loved being able to sit on the beach and watch for wild life while feeling grounded. Highly recommend you visit this location in the Triangle of Fire.

When I originally wrote this my wife and I did not have an innerstanding regarding ADA laws and…read moreservice animals. Since than we have become educated so as to protect the laws set in motion by the ADA. There are 2 questions that can be asked regarding an animal that may be in question: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person's disability. [Source: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/) These questions were not addressed by the Park employee and the Park should have in place a plan on how to address an animal that isn't showing behavioral issues (ie: zero training, aggressive towards people/animals, etc.). There is a need for an awareness of the importance of being respectful to service animals. There is sadly many who claim their dogs as service animals when they're clearly not trained for any tasks and therefore should be labeled as ESA (Emotional Support Animal).
