This restaurant is in an old house and the inside is so homey and welcoming. We were seated in the sunroom and presented with a plate of yummy muffins upon arrival. The ham was just regular but the dill mayo, sprouts and homemade honey wheat bread turned it spectacular. The peach berry bisque was cool, fruity and freshening! Tasted like a smoothie in a bowl. This is one of my favorite places to take my wife for lunch. We've been eating at the Cottage for twelve years now and I am amazed that there are still people out there who don't know where it's at. It's one block off second street on Lincoln, now you don't have an excuse to check it out. The food is good and you will definitely go home full. There soups are great; especially the potato when they have it. There sandwiches and pastas are also delicious. They also serve breakfast Sunday morning. I love that they always include fresh apples, Cottage cream and a couple bites of decadent dessert in all their to go orders! Ive been dining for lunch here at least 1-2 times a month for the last 10 years! The food is always very consistent however lately the recipe on some items have been different and have A LOT more heat and spice. A couple of my usual go to's, the Oriental Chicken Wrap and the Tandori Chicken Sandwich are now super spicy and almost too hard to eat unless hot and spicy is your thing. We just ate here and have no regrets about it. We're road tripping from California and wanted something a bit healthier since we've been eating steak dinners every night, and this place met our needs and surpassed our expectations! The place is nice and cool and sooo cute! They grow most of the produce that you eat and their meat is local and the salmon is wild. Everything is delicious and vibrant and full of flavor. I got the herb crusted salmon sandwich and my mom got the herb crusted salmon salad. Both were delicious and came with fresh muffins and fruit with their cream. Yum. Hands-down the best cafe experience available in Casper. While it is always very busy, it manages to stay quiet and personal. The food has always been outstanding. Just outside of the downtown area and a slight turn down a side street, there's a little hidden jewel of a cafe called The Cottage. The actual structure of the building used to be a residential home, but the interior has been remodeled to cater to the space needed for a restaurant. The interior is beautifully decorated with antiques which gives an atmosphere that seems a bit rustic. Made me feel like I was gonna be served some good home cooking, like grandma used to make. Indeed, I couldn't have been more right. They brought me a blueberry muffin to enjoy while I looked the menu over. Either they have my grandma's recipe, or she bought them here, and gave me the impression she made them. As I browsed the menu, I noticed all sorts of healthy delectable eats. Sandwiches, pastas, soups, paninis... There was a lot to choose from. I decided on a panini called the Picasso. It was a sandwich style kind of eat, made on fococcia bread. It had melted mozzarella cheese, fresh spinach and tomatoes, artichoke heart, and chicken, and there was some sort of sauce. (I don't know what it was) It was DE - LISH !!! I also had a potato bacon soup that stuffed me by the time I finished it. I definitely will return to this establishment. The only thing I frowned on was the hours of operation. Simple, from-scratch, semi-healthy lunch in a cozy environment. We stopped at Cottage Cafe on a drive from Boulder, CO to Glacier National Park. I'm not sure the last time we'd had a legitimately delicious meal on a road trip! I had a wrap with a salad, while my husband enjoyed a salad and sandwich. Both were superb. The Cottage is like Casper's forgotten secret. The restaurant is in a neighborhood location and is in a normal looking house. They have certain days and times that they are open so be sure to check before you head over there. Their food is always good and has a hometown feel to it.
