It has to be said that if the dead start to rise this is first on my loot list. I'll need to get my 'oh fuck rucksack' properly stocked. What do you mean you don't know what an 'oh fuck rucksack' is? It's a rucksack you have stowed away in the cupboard under the stairs with various bits of survival stuff, food, etc. that you can grab if the world as we know it is coming to an end. Yes I read and watch far too much disaster stuff and might be a bit of a worrier! Given that the dead are not currently roaming the streets and that society isn't crumbling we concentrated on looking for a warm winter coat for smudge. That said she'd still need to be warm in a nuclear winter, dual purpose shopping! They have a good selection of kids outdoorsy clothing and especially jackets and coats ranging from economical regatta ones right through to seriously spendy Berghaus ones. Thankfully she fell in love with a middle of the range Craghoppers one. It's waterproof, fleecy lined and has a great hood so the poor sausage is getting no lifts to school this winter. While we were there g found a long list of cycling gubbins that has now been added to his 'I need all this now' list and I found a really cozy warm winter coat that might be worth investing in given that a denim jacket is not really the most sensible bit of outerwear for a Scottish winter. Poor puff was the only one of us not really catered for but she'd has so much fun riding in the trolly and pulling things off the displays that I don't think she minded one bit. It has to be said that finding a member of staff in here is virtually impossible. Even when it comes to actually buying something and handing over your money you just can't find any staff. I left g to pay while I got the kids in the car. By the time he had payed I'd got both girls in and buckled, returned the trolley and checked the news app for any signs of a coming apocalypse, not somewhere to come if you are in a rush to leave town and head somewhere more remote and safe.

They have just about the widest amount of outdoor gear from any outdoor store i have ever seen. Men's, ladies and children's clothes and shoes. Camping and caravanning kit and accessories, climbing, canoeing, cycling, running and horse riding also feature. Now they represent every area well but aren't specialists into any area in particular. Shop with care. Watch out for their great bargains and if you are desperate for something reserve online and pickup in store. Staff are quite good. Some better than others but as an outdoor type I just want somebody who can find the size of shoes I'm looking for.

There probably isn't…read moreeven an actual war, but seeing as these shops are quite similar and at Silverburn, I'm going to manufacture one. So Trespass is a fair bit smaller than Cotswold but to me, it sold all the same kind of stuff. Outdoors wear (derr), jackets, shoes, boots, accessories - all you could want for your outdoor adventuring. The reason I preferred Trespass is I thought their range was nicer (see the photo of the snazzy animal print jacket, very nice) and they also had some sweet discounts. Now I wasn't seriously thinking of buying anything so I didn't go into any deep analysing of the prices (me, outdoors? No) but the one jacket that really caught my eye was a really reasonable price. Another plus was the staff member here was really nice and friendly, in a natural and welcoming way. She seemed a little lonely, sure, but in shopping centres you can feel snubbed in more ways than you thought possible. Not here!

Hidden away on the peripheries of town just down from Stow College and next to Cowcaddens Underground, its the big nasty looking warehouse type place that is by no means unworthy of a visit if your in the market for some gear. I would say that despite its cheap feel, there are some good bargains to be had on some things that are incredibly over priced in some of the more reputable stores. The down side though is that the staff ain't the most clued up of punters(i think the guy i spoke to last used to work in Dixons...says it all really.) Anyway, i would definitely check this place out. Its cheap (ish), cheerful (ish) and close (ish ) to town.

I speak highly of them however as they provided me with an awesome tent which withstood this years festival season. Score! My tent of choice was a steal at £30 - I am still in awe that it lives on, and has survived 4 festivals. Amazing. There was one 'built' instore, so they let me get in and see how roomy it was, etc. The sales assistant was effective at convincing me that it was a good choice. I was slightly wary due to my past experience with over enthusiastic sales assistants, and I think I was right to be wary - after being told to try out the afore mentioned tent by enthusiastic sales member no.1 another of the shop assistants came over and yelled at me like I was some kind of misbehaved child. He's gone and ruined it for everyone though, hasn't he? I'm only going to give Outdoor World 3 stars now. Thank-you Mr. Grumpy, see what you've gone and made me do. Fool.

This outlet has a water feature in the centre of the shop floor & a gas fire that keeps the store warm. There is an upstairs area that has a cafe where you can buy a hot drink & bite to eat whilst you shop. There is a large selection of waterproof jackets and accessory says well as the usual scarves, hats and gloves with some items being on sale. Good solid boots, shoes and trainers as well as climbing gear & tents. Helpful staff dotted around if you need any help or advice.

Hidden away in Paisley, this place is a paradise for those interested in outdoor sports, in particular skiing and snowboarding. There's a wide range of merch available for enthusiasts in both arenas, but since my boyfriend is passionate about snowboarding it's probably my forte in a place like this, and what brought me here in the first place. I can't believe the savings in this store. Not only on boards, but on the clothing! Summits stock some very trendy patterned cargo pants for almost a third of the price they would be in the centre of Glasgow. For brand names such as Burton and Animal, this is very exciting news indeed. Aside from jackets, they do a number of boards, including a fantastic range for women! It's great for people like me who have the stench of amateur about them and need a helping hand. Speaking of assistance, the staff are all very cool, friendly and willing to help. Although some experts would enter a store like this knowing exactly what they're looking for, it's reassuring that staff know what they're talking about. For me, it's a God send! I try to look cool in sports stores but I evidently look clueless since I was spoonfed knowledge through every step of my Summits journey. But I didn't mind, because I needed it. As someone interested in taking up boarding, this place was a fountain of knowledge, not to mention unbelievably cheap! With savings spanning into the £100 region, Summits is worth the excursion!

They're a bit of a younger upstart to the likes of Graham Tiso, and tend to favour the mid- to upper-end of the market with top brand names at premium prices - although they do often have discounted items so it's always worth a look. I find most of their clothing to be out of my price comfort zone (I'm more the Regatta end of the market), so I seldom do any serious shopping here. However I am a huge fan of their thermawear fleecy baffies (that's slippers to non-natives) in the winter, which cover up your ankles quite a way thus preventing draughts up the trouser leg. They don't last more than a season or two as they're more akin to heavy-duty socks really; but they're lightweight, comfy and good value. Sadly on this particular visit they didn't have them in stock; apparently it's still considered to be summer in Scotland - who knew? I shall have to return later. 150th review!

Considerably cheaper than the likes of Tiso, this is a good place for outdoor gear with recognisable brands. There's always a good selection of stock and the staff are helpful enough and seem to know the score. Well worth a look.
