The name above this is a bit of a misnomer. While Tiso is the largest store in this outdoor sports warehouse, there are several others (Alpine Bikes, Blue Skis, Run 4 It, a map store etc).
The prices are the normal slightly higher Tiso pricing structure. None of these establishments are known for their bargains, but they are all known for quality goods.
The best thing about this place is the choice of goods. Finding footwear for myself is always a crap shoot.
Normally I walk into a place that sells shoes ask what do you have in the shop which is a Men's Size 13? The store clerk will shake their head and tell me that I am in the wrong country for such obscenely large feet. If I am lucky some traveling clown will have order a pair of purple and white clown shoes and not picked them up. These shoes, which I do not want to wear, could be mine for a couple hundred quid.
Alternatively, I could go to the Big Guy Clothing shop that has convinced every manufacturer of comfortable shoes to sell their larger sizes (12 and above) through them exclusively at double the price. I will arrive at High and Smuggy, shoeless and willing to pay through the nose for any footwear whatsoever.
The Glasgow Outdoor Experience carries my size! In fact, It has a lot of different shoes and boots in my size. I have found a store in the UK that has a selection of larger sizes. Most of them are in centimeters, so I can occasionally get half sizes!
As I said, none of the goods available in these stores are a bargain (Matalan style) but they are available and occasionally on sale.
The Bike stuff is quality, and the selection in the other areas really should be discussed by someone who knows.
I don't run, but if I decided to start, this is where I would go and pick up the stuff to do it. Same goes for the climbing and skiing stuff.
If you wanted to mount a running, climbing, camping, cycling, walking expedition, this is the place to go.
It reminds me of MEC in Canada - except for the prices. read more
