Cotija's Taco Shop is located in Colton just west of the 215 on Washington. This little Mexican restaurant is a stand-alone shop offering a menu of items from burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and many others. It looks like it used to be a Taco Bell. While this restaurant is on the smaller side, they do have plenty of seating inside and in their outdoor patio (covered). They also have a drive-thru where you can place orders. I opted to dine inside since I wasn't familiar with their menu. I came with a party of 6 and we ordered a variety of items from their menu. * Chips and salsa: Crunchy and still warm. It paired well with the spicy red salsa or the milder green salsa. * Bean and Cheese Burrito: I can tell they make their tortillas fresh here. The flour tortilla was nice and thin with a good chew to it. The beans were flavorful and not overly salted like other places. The cheese they used were the standard shredded cheese you'd find at the grocery store. The burrito was huge so it didn't hold up well to the runnier white beans. Still delicious. 8/10 * Cotija Burrito - If a menu item has the restaurant's name in it, you definitely have to order it and that's what we did. It was a great choice because this burrito was absolutely delicious! The carne asada was seasoned perfectly and it complemented all the ingredients that went in with it. It was so so good! We ordered a few of these to bring back to each of our homes. 10/10 * Mexican Milk Jello - I like it to be a little firmer but it still had good flavor. 7/10 * Horchata - Delicious with the food we ate. 8/10 The young lady who helped us with our large order of food and drinks (and to go orders) was patient and friendly. They have parking spaces around the building but be careful for cars that are entering and exiting as you are parking. Overall, I liked Cotija's Taco Shop: The atmosphere was colorful and vibrant, and inviting; the customer service was good; and the food was delicious! I definitely will be back again the next time I'm in the area.

On my way home from work and Cotija's is conveniently located on and off the 215Fwy. It is in a stand alone building. There's plenty of seating inside and out. I went through the drive through. Lady was very patiently waiting for me to decide what I wanted to order. I settled for the wet veggie burrito. Person at the drive through was very helpful. Offered sauce for my to go order. The bag was big for one burrito! The burrito itself was huge. Unfortunately, the wet burrito made a mess all over the bag and my car. There's enough to feed 2 people. The burrito was hot on the outside and cold on the inside. Nonetheless it was very good.

Man this place... i am sitting in my car after demolishing a Carne Asada Torta and cant explain how i feel food drunk from this Torta. It was empty when i got there (sometimes a red flag) but a few more lunch crowd came in afterwards... you know a place is fire by a few key indicators. This place had them all! Holy goodness that Torta left an indention in my soul and has taken the top spot of all Tortas ever eaten. I will be back, but after a long nap. Do not sleep on this place!

4 years of college in Riverside, this has been the Mexican food spot of choice every time. The entire menu is solid (have tried most of it). Now all 4 guys in the photo are graduating and we will miss this place. Ruby joined us for some goodbyes, she had been taking our order pretty much every time we ate at Cotijas. The food is tasty and not too expensive. Give them a try, you will love the food and the staff :)

Inside the restaurant takes you back to the old traditional Mexican restaurants from the 90s. Food is very affordable with a large menu of options. The rolled tacos had plenty of guacamole cream & fresh grated cheese that makes each bite enjoyable.

It took 5-10 minutes just to get menus and another 15 minutes before our server, Vicky, came to take our order. We ordered everything at once to avoid delays, yet we were never served the usual chips and salsa. The biggest issue was the wait time and lack of attention. While we were sitting there, multiple tables that arrived after us were seated, ordered, ate, and left before we even received our food. Meanwhile, other servers were clearly attentive and efficient with their tables. Our food took about 40 minutes, arrived cold, and came out separately. After that, our server barely checked on us--we had to ask other staff for help. No one came to see how things were or to bring the check. We ended up going to the counter ourselves to pay, and there was no apology at all. This was our second visit with the same server and the same experience. We gave the restaurant a second chance, but unfortunately that was a mistake. We spent over $150, and the level of service did not match that at all. The food itself has good flavor, but the slow and inattentive service completely ruins the experience. Sadly, we won't be returning.

The menu is broad enough, some house specials and specialties, tortas, and so on. My usual audition meal is a carne asada burrito, wet style if available. The wait wasn't too long after ordering, which was appreciated. However, My request for both red and green sauces didn't register on the cook's end. I am not sure exactly what the cream sauce slathered on top was, but fortunately it wasn't 100% sour cream or I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the food. As such, I'll be sure to mention no sauce if there is another time. I really liked the beans and rice inside. The carne asada didn't seem overly unique in the seasoning department, nor did the red sauce assuage my taste buds. Nonetheless, it was a decent size and I wasn't hungry afterwards for a long time. Overall, it's probably the place I'd need to visit 3-4 more times and try different things. For now I'd say 3.25 Stars
