My cousin, who recently moved to SoCal, is on a quest to find the best tacos in the IE. We were already in Colton for another engagement and she found Tacos La Central to try. We were not expecting much given that it was a literal stand alone building in the middle of nowhere. If Google didn't direct us there, we would have missed it. Our first impression was that the meat selections were limited--no lingua, tripas, nor chacete. We did a takeout order given the 97 degree heat but did notice a nice outdoor seating area that would be perfect in cooler weather. In a few short minutes, our order was called. I tried the adobada, chorizo, and asada and was blown away by the flavor. The meat was wonderfully charred, seasoned, and aromatic. 4++ Tijuana style taco spot located in Colton. From what I understand, this place is a long standing neighborhood fave. The spot itself is a standalone building/ stand with an outside seating area that felt tranquil and some parking along the front/side of the building. Dining with the fellow patrons, I definitely got the vibe that it's a beloved neighborhood spot. When I got up to the window and ordered, the person was friendly, efficient, and helpful. The tacos were really delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered an asada taco and an adobada taco. Both with everything, which means when it comes to TJ style, you get a healthy dose of the avocado salsa in these handmade tortilla rolled up delights. During my meal, I was greeted by a really cute guest (it was a cat and I think she was a stray - i gave here a few bites from my food and she was on her way). I really enjoy coming to this place because the food is amazing. The tacos are absolutely delicious and keep me coming back. Unfortunately, the customer service has consistently been disappointing. The girls working there often seem rude and unwelcoming. They barely make eye contact, don't acknowledge customers while waiting in line, and hand over the food without a smile, a thank you, or any friendly interaction. It can come across as though they're acting like they work at a very prestigious place rather than making customers feel welcome. The owners should do something about this. I have been wanting to try style tacos for a while, so I was excited that Tacos La Central was en route for our trip. The service was fast and easy. They have a simple menu with meat choices of Steak, Adobada (pork), chicken, and chorizo. The tortillas are made fresh and the tacos are loaded. The staff was friendly and efficient. I rate the staff a 4/5. The food was a 3/5 for me. The meat flavor was good on the adobada, the chicken was nothing memorable, and the steak was a bit of a surprise with the smoky flavor. The salsas were ok. The green avocado salsa barely tasted like avocados, and didn't have much of a flavor. The white sauce on the adobado tacos tasted kind of like mayonnaise, or ranch, which was off-putting. They also did not have drinks other than Coke available at the time we went (which was 2 pm on a Sunday). That was also a bummer as I do not drink that soda. I did ask the employee if they had a spicy salsa, and she gave me a container with a tomato sauce which tasted more like the sauce used on pupusas and not at all spicy. The mulita was loaded with cheese which I did like but the chicken was too bland for me. Overall, I would not mind revisiting this spot, I would however stick to the adobada, bring my own spicy salsa or jalapeño asado, and use the salt they have by the pickup window. read more

We swing by here when we are in town and only ever get tacos al pastor. Everytime we order the same thing. The tacos themselves are ok, we mostly like the combination of salsas they put on the tacos. The service tends to be on the rude side but we swing by for the convenience and the salsas. Whenever we have gone in the past, the people taking the order are very rude and impatient, if I ask them to repeat themselves. The way their order window is areanged, makes it difficult to hear the person inside over the air vent they have, especially if they are as soft spoken as they usually are. On today's visit, the LAST one, my husband placed the USUAL order, of tacos al pastor with everything on them. When he recieved the order it was all tacos de carne Asada. He informed them that the order was incorrect. He didnt ask for his money back or to keep the incorrect order, he simply ask for his order to be correct. The man who addressed this issue said he would not fix the order and that it was my husband's mistake. I believe this was all just a misunderstanding due to the poor window set up, but the way the man handled the situation was incredibly rude. I was surprised to find out he was the owner of this restaurant. As the owner he should do something to amplify the voice of the people taking orders to ensure the customer can hear over the vent and multiple plastic and glass barriers. This way there won't be unnecessary misunderstandings. He should also take measures to learn how to interact with his customers in a more tactful way. Especially since the carne Asada tacos we were stuck with eating were not worth coming back for. The carne asada meat is especially bland. All this to say, skip this place and head to Taqueria 2 Potrillos, they have excelente food, excellent service and a wider variety to choose from. read more
