It is one of the shops in Chicago that I enjoy visiting the most. Their products consistently feature elegant styles and attractive designs. Additionally, the atmosphere and decor of the shop are very pleasing to the eye. I really appreciate how clean and open the space is, in addition to how simple but beautiful the interior design is. It is wonderful that the city has a boutique like this one, because you can always find something that is a little bit different, very wearable, and very special in it. It's possible that the prices will seem a little steep at first, but then you'll remember that you can spend much more on clothes that have only a fraction of their allure. If you get it, you will have a new treasure to add to your collection because well-made pieces like these hang better on the body than you would guess they would. Favorite store in chicago...Go every time I visit the City..great styles and designs from France..Most are machine washable..they hold up for years and years..definitely worth the price! Highly recommend a visit if shopping for unusual very wearable styles.. read more

To find a beautiful boutique store in a great neighborhood is wonderful. I've 'invested' in a few Cotelac pieces over the years. The clothes are beautifully made and the styling is very unique. My only complaint is that one saleswoman is really on the snooty side. Recently I visited the store and she made a point of telling me she has over 100 pieces. Well good for her. I've even considered not stopping in the store when I see her behind the counter. Someone should tell her to lighten up and learn uber customer service to match the uber beatiful clothes and accessories. read more

Do you ever envy that cool Parisian woman, who just has that special top or jacket or dress on? A woman with clothes so subtle and cool and unlike any you see in most stores or boutiques around, clothes that have that je-ne-sais-quois about them? Well here in Chicago, yes, Chicago, we are SO lucky to have this little gem of a store, tucked away on Webster. A store filled with beautiful, quirky, wearable, and very well-made pieces from France. The prices may seem a touch high until you realize that you can pay a lot more for clothes that don't have half their charm. These pieces create their own style, and are not riding any quick trends. The clothes in my closet that I reach for first, the ones I feel really good wearing, are the clothes I've gotten from Cotelac. And the compliments I get! Cotelac is my fashion secret. ;) Those previous comments about a salesperson? She's gone. The new manager/salesperson is a delight -- kind and personable, not pushy or snobby at all, very helpful and honest. She makes shopping there a joy! If you are lucky enough to visit Cotelac, and something catches your eye, I suggest you try it on. The quintessential Lincoln Park boutique - beautiful, well-made clothes, cute vintage-y storefront, good selection. Love their selection of French designers that are hard to come by in smaller boutiques around here. Their selection is well culled and chic. I do wish they had a bit more color and daring prints in their selection; I found it to be skewed towards dark colors and neutrals the past few times I went in. read more

Their selection of clothes are so lovely, but a bit on the pricey side when not marked down. Not that I have too much of a problem with that - you get what you pay for, after all. I purchased a beautiful, unique dress that is simple, not too trendy and very comfortable. I love the clean, open space and the simple interior design. It's great to have a boutique like this in the city, where you will always find something a little different, very wearable, and very special. The only issue for me (a small issue) was that the saleswoman, an older lady, was a bit abrupt and not very responsive. The clothes are outstanding - stylish, well-made, easy to care for. I have several pieces from Cotelac, most of which I purchased in NYC. It is a luxury to have this store here. It's not particularly close to me, but well worth the journey. read more

The customer service is sooo pathetic in this shop. When I entered, the sale lady didn't greeted me, nor even looked at me. After a few minutes, she came to see me and looked at me from head to toe as if I didn't belong to this kind of shop !! Hello ???? She asked me if I already knew Cotelac, and I felt it was really meaning "I guess you can't afford it" ! So I continued to look at the clothes and she told me "oh we have sales going on now but I haven't written down the new price on the tag, just ask me if you are interested by a precise item" .... Is that too difficult to put the new price on the tag ??? ALL the shops do it, so why can't she do it too ??? Horrible atmosphere, won't go back there and she will never see my $$ read more

I love the calm uncluttered look of this boutique and the ever changing windows with cool layered European looks that are unique and no designer to really compare their clothes to. Now, I would love to afford a complete wardrobe here season after season. Picking up a few pieces here and there is great and completely inspiring for my personal wardrobe. The sales people are really nice and always look great wearing their own product and I always seem to say, "wow, that looks great on you". I'm proud for Chicago that this is their first store outside of Europe and hope all of the Midwestern folk embrace it! read more

Never have I been so offended or treated so poorly in a Chicago boutique. When out Christmas shopping with my best friend yesterday, we popped into Cotelac to find gifts for ourselves and others. The proprietor snootily peered over her newspaper and barely greeted us. When inquiring about sizing, she glanced me up and down (I am a marathon runner at 5'9" and a size 8) and she told me that clothes from France "are very narrow" and sat back down and ignored us. Apparently unless you are a snobby waif are you allowed to seek help in this store. This store will never see my money; much happier at Bloomingdales!! read more

I decided to have a "Lincoln Park " day today and happily found this lovely boutique. Their selection of dresses is unique, and the fabrics are sublime. The sales women were very friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. I recall they mentioned they had been working there a year, so I don't believe they are the ones people have commented negatively about. They encouraged me to try on a few pieces I wouldn't have picked myself. Although pricey,I feel the pieces will be a good investment . Current, but not too trendy , so I will be able to enjoy them for several years. read more

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL clothes. The salespeople are totally accessible and not-at-all pretentious. Things are pricey, but unique enough that you can buy one or two pieces a couple of times a year, and feel like you're really refreshing your wardrobe. The look is very French! I agree, the customer service in this store is lacking. Really quite cold and unfriendly. C'est tres francais perhaps? The clothes are beautiful and might be worth putting up with it if you're looking for that one lovely item to pull your wardrobe together. However, I should warn you about the wool. I bought a $200 gorgeous wool sweater which seized up and shrank after being washed delicately in very cold water as per the instructions. I've managed to re-shape it somewhat but it will never be the same. A real bummer. Should have just stuck with Banana Republic perhaps. read more
