This review is for the Optical Department ONLY! Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate Costco. I mean honestly, deeply, and truly abhor this place. Not this location, the entire chain. Having said that, I am very happy with the service and value I received from the Optical department. The selection of frames is nothing to brag about but it's good enough. The opticians seem to know their jobs. The wait wasn't excessive and I received enthusiastic advice about which frames would suit me (and my prescription) best. The measurements were quick but apparently accurate and my glasses arrived sooner than promised. The worst part: The optician would not stop pushing me to get a second pair of glasses no matter how many times I told her I neither wanted nor needed a second pair. "But it will only be $60 more!" Yes, and that's $60 I don't need to spend on something I don't want. The best part: The prices. The optician in my optometrist's office quoted me over $600 just for the lenses, frames extra. My total at Costco - progressive bifocals with high index lenses, frames included - was $233. Considering that I have no optical insurance this kind of pricing makes a big difference. read more

I usually enjoy shopping at Costco, but my recent visit to the Raleigh location was a bit disappointing. The store seemed understaffed, a lot of carts were overflowing in the parking lot. A lot of people were also waiting for the rotisserie chicken to come out. When one batch did, they were all gone within seconds. A lot of produce had stickers on the bags that were 2 weeks old. I grabbed a chicken bake and a banana strawberry smoothie from the food court. Both were just so-so -- not terrible, but definitely not memorable. Chicken bake was hot and filling, I can only finish about half with the smoothie. Only the cheesy, crusty bread stood out. The smoothie was on the sweeter side and thick that you can't drink it right away. Overall, still a convenient place to shop, but this visit didn't live up to the usual Costco experience. Hopefully it was just an off day. But I look back at previous visits and think it's not. One thing I normally look forward to is the samples, but during one visit a couple of weeks ago, one old lady who was handing out samples was a bit harsh when I took one from the tray. When I was getting my glasses order from their optical department, I put my name on the list to get in line. I kept coming back and forth and stayed close by. Saw there were no more customers so I wondered why they haven't called me. Finally approached one staff and she said there's no one in the list. Customer service also felt a little off. The staff I interacted with weren't particularly friendly or helpful, which stood out because Costco is usually better about that. Costco is still a good place to buy things in bulk and worth going to, but I would rather go to another Costco location than this one. read more

It's in a good location for those in North Raleigh, I would say the parking lot is a little too small for the foot traffic that it gets, almost all times of the day. It's quite busy, and it's the same pains as other Costco's where the service is not exceptional, cafe takes a little longer than you would like, but it's a Costco. You go in and you get out. I've been to other Costco's, this one is not my favorite, but it's not my least favorite either. I don't go out of my way to go to this Costco, only if I happen to be in the side of town. read more

Great gas prices that are the lowest I have seen. This alone makes our card worthwhile, especially when traveling. Service has always been good and helpful, although associates have occasionally given me incorrect info on product location in the store. Common purchases include rotisserie chicken (of course), bacon, coffee beans, vitamins, and prosecco. Occasional purchases are often a great deal (cookware, dehumidifier, air purifier, mattresses, and TV's). I tired the Calzone Combo, and it is worth $6.99, it had nice flavor and plenty of filling. I don't know why they call it a combo when a soft drink is not included. The NEW Double Mint Chocolate Sundae at $2.99 is a tasty dessert. No matter what time I go the Food Court it always appears to be busy. Kids enjoy seeing the pizzas getting made. read more

First stop, wait in the queue for the gas pumps. This was the cheapest fuel in the Raleigh area, partly because it is subsidized by my Costco membership. Easy enough to wait and because I am in the Sprinter van, I have to be on one side. But if you're in a regular car, you can use either side because they have the extra long hoses. With that complete, I parked and did some shopping. This store is similar to others I have shopped lately and is actually my 8th Costco this year after stops in Albuquerque, Dallas and the Tampa area. The store was fully stocked and very tidy. Plenty of shopping carts, lots of merchandise with no trash on the floor. All of the associates I encountered were friendly. Before leaving, a slice of pizza was consumed. Always has the best gas prices. The line is always long but moves fast. My pump wasn't functioning properly but the attendant came quickly to assist. The warehouse is typically busy and the parking lot was packed so no surprise there however the warehouse was well stocked, had a great selection and staff friendly, patient and helpful. read more

Checked with Costco Tire center on a busy Saturday for a patch and tire rotation and was told there was a two hour wait for walk-ins and that I should get an appointment. So, for the following Thursday I got a 12:15 appointment online and arrived on time. I was told it would be 2 hours. Begging the question why bother with an appointment at all??? 2 hours later I was told 30 more minutes. When the vehicle was finally ready I was told by the desk clerk that he would meet me outside "right away". After waiting for 10-15 minutes I went back inside and there were a couple people in line. I asked for the key and was told "you're going to have to wait". I will not use Costco every again for anything automotive related. read more

So disappointing. I was talked into an upgrade, with ALL THESE BENEFITS.... BS. Their website is horrible. I'm supposed to get free shipping and/ free pickup, well, if they do not show an item, I KNOW THEY HAVE, I cannot order it. The only good experience I've had is today when inquiring pricing about tires I believe his name is Mark, his customer service was above and beyond. I didn't know exactly what size of tires I needed and he walked with me all the way to the back of the parking lot to check. Earlier today, I was using the self checkout asking why isn't there a pricing gun available? A, woman associate interrupted me but didn't help and directed my question to the man working there, then scanned one of the items that needed to stay flat (pot pie). Other times I've checked out no one puts food away in the provided shopping bags I bring or the boxes they provide. I've been told they can't do that. So what service am I paying you for as you check me out? Just for you to scan my items and use the register lol? Make it make sense. read more

They have a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. The store is clean and well stocked. Stopped by this location to get some gas and fill up on some staples. The store was well stocked and staffed. Getting fuel was a breeze with a short wait. We purchased everything we came for and then some as it is quite a distance out of the way for us. We are very cost conscious and the items we purchased were a good value. They were selling quick because of the early Black Friday deals. The staff here are really nice, too. It gets super busy on weekends but the lines move quickly compared to other costcos I've been to. Never dined in Costco before, but after a night out the day prior, this lunch was the perfect meal! I felt so revived after this pizza. My friend ordered a hotdog and once I saw the food, I HAD to get some myself! The meal was so affordable and honestly I would pay more for it, that pizza was HUGE and THAT good! I'm very pleased with it all, even though I'm not even a Costco member! Might have to reconsider that now Great experience! This review is about my 1st time getting prescription glasses from Costco. I read online that Costco glasses were really affordable and good quality so I went to check it out. I went with my prescription and I waited in line for assistance. Leah ended up assisting me. I let her know that I had my prescription w/o the PD so I would need my PD if I were to purchase glasses. Then I asked, even if I don't purchase glasses, how much do you charge for the PD? She stated they don't give the PD without an eyeglass purchase. Cool. So I proceeded to start looking. She then told me "If you know you are not going to buy any glasses, don't try any on so we won't have to sanitize glasses for no reason." I felt that was she was being rude with that statement. Perhaps plenty of people come in just for a PD and waste time looking around and trying on glasses but I still don't feel it's appropriate to tell potential customers not to try on glasses simply so you don't have to sanitize them. Anywho, I found the cutest frames there that day. However, Costco does not take EyeMed insurance from the State Health Plan. So I went home to call my insurance to make sure it qualified for Out of Network and then came back in the next day. Leah was once again the person to assist me. She looked up the frame and the system said it was Out of Stock. To say I was disappointed, was a huge understatement. But then she said "Wait. Let me check the buckets to see if they are in there" and they were. The fact that she checked for me instead of just simply going by what the system said is pretty much why this review has 3 stars instead of 2. The glasses were good quality. Front end person that was working and "helping" the self-checkout on Saturday was unprofessional, rude and unfriendly. I think he was a manager or supervisor but maybe not. BTW, the self-checkout was backed up to the 1st freezer aisle which is half the way back if the store. Assisted checkout wasn't much better. We were trying to get someone to help us with the Heidi make-up table. He was saying we would have to go back and get it on a cart and wait in that line again. The boxes were stacked shoulder height and one box was 100+ lbs so there was NO way my wife and i could even think about getting it down. And there were no little tickets to bring to the front. So we took a picture for the price tag listed. He didnt seem to want to assist other than what he laid out for us. Once he "saw the light" he told us he'd get it brought to the front desk and they would ring it up for us. As i went to pull the car to the front the attitude continued with my wife. Theres a difference of being busy and being busy with an attitude. Enough said. The young man that brought it to the front was super! Costco Tire Service provides horrible customer service and made me and my dad wait for the tire change. It's been an hour and a half and now they're saying like two hours and a half. They need to get new people or stop working there. The day before was told two hours, but instead was over three. I called the tire shop to see if they had a battery for the older car and they had none but they directed me to their store in Durham where they had 12. So went to Durham. No lines and it took 6 minutes to swap the core. On the way back we went to this store to get gas since it is on the way. When we need gas and there is a Costco nearby we drive there and do some shopping as well, that is what they want you to do anyway, you go for gas and end up spending 150 in groceries but it is ok, we like the stuff they have and tastings make you try new products. We like the good variety of cheeses and wines too. 10 years ago the parking lot was nearly empty no matter what time of the day but that has gradually changed. This time we just went to fill up so when the 30 day advisory is lifted we will be ready to go South Carolina so I don't have to stop on I95, the car will sit there for a month and we have enough food to last that time. I don't remember when was the last time a gallon of regular was 1.49 maybe 1990? the thing is it won't last, I doubt it that it will stay like that after the stay home order is lifted so fill up now and worry later. read more

Costco has all the holiday specials going on right now! The people that work there are friendly and helpful. The seafood station is my favorite place in the store right now! I absolutely adore when it is available and set up! The king crab are my favorite! I will be getting some when I go back! I'm getting really sick and tired of store clerks feeling they have a right to point out and laugh at customers and make disrespectful remarks regarding what sports team apparel they're wearing. Yes, I'm fully aware my team is bad. Doesn't mean I won't sport their cap when I go out. I should be able to with being rudely laughed at by the staff. If you want to shop for groceries at a store that enforces mask wearing, then this is the place for you. I cannot tell you how many stores I have lost respect for because they are not following Covid guidelines. In my opinion, a store that does not enforce masks and offer hand sanitizer at the very least, is a business that does not care about their employees. If you're not a fan of following their rules but want to continue purchasing their products, then use Instacart, simple as that. Also, this location can get crowded at times, so I highly recommend visiting first thing in the morning or an hour before closing. Do NOT buy your appliances here if you want an on time delivery and good customer service. It took them 4 reschedules over 3 weeks to install a new washer, dryer, and fridge. Reschedule #1: fridge couldn't be installed because they needed a 4 man team (ok, I get that). Washer dryer just wasn't installed. We found out from the next team to visit they the first team was just being lazy. That's honestly what the third team said to us. Reschedule #2: ETA was 7-9 am. No delivery. We called customer service and they said our deliver was pushed back to 11-1pm. It's 1:45 and we had not been serviced so we called customer service again. They said "you're next, the team will be there in 20 minutes!" 45 minutes later and still no service, we called again to find out the team "missed" our house. Reschedule #3: washer dryer was finally installed! They couldn't get the fridge up the stairs without the railing coming off. Apparently they couldn't wait for us to quickly unscrew it, so we were rescheduled again. Finally, we got our fridge on the 4th visit. The team size- 3 people! Looks like the didn't need the team of 4 in the first place... but, our walls got very banged up and the LVN floor was damaged. Costco didn't reach out to us to reschedule on any of these attempts, but they did have a team text us for a tip LOL. The service people were friendly enough, but the whole experience was enough to make me say don't buy appliances at Costco unless you want a laughably bad experience! read more

At around 11:30 this morning, this place was CROWDED. Went it with my family and because of the congestion and walked right out. Each of the registers stacked -- each looked at least 10 parties deep. Very tough to social distance when no one at the door monitoring customers entering the store. I had my Costco member card out but no one to show it to. At least the customers and the staff were all wearing masks. I like shopping at Costco in general ... but the crowd congestion (this location in particular) during this pandemic needs to be monitored and controlled. During a previous visit to the area I had visited this location around the start of COVID and the waiting line wrapped around the building ... so this location I know is pretty popular. read more

Typically .15 - .20 cheaper per gallon, that savings alone could pay for your membership * Great meat section, if you're looking for big packs of USDA Prime meat, they've got it here * Interesting frozen food section, perfect for families and also parties where you need hordoeurves and such * Good enough clothing section, solid for the basics and I actually found a pair of Lucky jeans that I liked, whoa. * Custom sheet cakes for $18 and they are supposed to be good, choose from 20+ different decroations * Fantastic flower section, in case you've done your sweetie wrong. Can't go wrong for $15 here, see picture. * Solid selection of meds, vitamins and supplements- I scanned the section and they have quite the choice in larger sizes * Large selection of HDTV's including some exclusives. They had a Panasonic plasma that I was dying to get but it went out of stock, boo... Toss in the cheap eats food stand, eyeglass area, tire section and more and you've got the ability to "save" a lot of money here. Course you'll also spend a lot! Dislikes are few: * Jammed parking lots with SUV's and mom-mobiles * Only take cash, debit and their Costco card as payment * No bags, grab a box or bring your own * Longish lines and you have to get your goods checked on the way out Overall I've been pleasantly surprised with my experience and expect things to only get better here!
