I toured Costco today. What a set up. I live alone and don't need a lot of bulk anything, but I joined because I need a washer and dryer; their prices are fair, options plentiful, and they include parts, installation, and removal. That alone is worth the membership. I also got their CC with the cash back and will be taking advantage of the plethora of discounts and cash back deals they have. Won't take much to get back the membership cost, keep my dry goods stocked, and my pantries and freezer full. But the best part of the experience was Josie at the membership desk. She was pure joy. She was friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and just provided the perfect guest experience. Everyone that works in customer service should have to shadow Josie for a day to learn what customer service should be. As a long time hospitality executive, someone who has written multiple training manuals and have given talks all over North America on service delivery, I know good customer service. Hearing Aid department employee couldn't schedule an appointment for me, made a lame excuse. I had to come back a week later and made it with someone else. They then called the day before my appointment and said it needed to be rescheduled, the specialist called in sick. I made the appointment and paid for my hearing aids. The day that I was supposed to pick them up (2 weeks later), they called and said the specialist was sick again and I had to wait another 9 days after that to pick them up. NO THANK YOU COSTCO!!!! just wanted to say I've never had the pleasure of having some of the nicest people ever help us in the phone area my mom and I got two new phones from Costco at the kiosk usually switching phone companies and services is SUCH A HASSEL. this was NOT!!! so incredibly easy!!! picked out our phones we wanted the were delivered to our house the next day.we brought them in and they did the rest ! I have been a member since 2000. I had a problem with my membership card this morning. I was denied access to the store because my card still says "Gold Star", although I pay as an Executive Member. The staff at the door, including the store manager would not allow me to go to the membership desk. At this point it's close to 10:00 AM, but they were sticklers for the rules. The single serve ice cream in the food court is disgusting, its watery, almost melting before I walk 20 steps to the outside door and is 560 calories! for a small one. let that sink in. 1 cup of diced honeydew melon has 64 calories minimal fat and will fill you up longer. God knows what chemicals are in the ice cream. avoid. read more

I stopped in here for gas and enjoyed browsing. This Costco had many items that I've haven't seen at my local Costco. They had plenty of items to decorate and furnish rental properties. The strawberry fields salad was excellent and the bacon cheddar crisps are something that I will be looking for again in the future. read more

Update: This review is for Mandy at Optometry department. She was helping me every step, from choosing the right frame to the lenses... Explained clearly to me the pros and cons of each type of lens. Very helpful, indeed. Thank you Mandy. Five days later, my reading glasses were ready for pickup. Optometry's personnel also did all the adjustments to make sure they would fit me perfectly. How wonderful is it? FYI, Costco have a promotion that available year round Buy 1 frame get 2nd at 1/2 price. Bring your own prescription or you can set up an eye exam with an optometrist next to the Optometry department. Be warned, they are very busy and your appointment may be up to 2 months of waiting. Hope it helps. Located in Westfield Sarasota mall. They have gas stations, and other departments such as Optometry, photo center, tire center... Food court is outside so you don't need to be a Costco member to get their famous pizza and hot dog. Like all Costco, wherever they are, very crowded in the weekend. Beside, this Costco is part of the mall so it's convenient for other shopping needs. Don't forget to check for local Costco clearance sales, you might find lots of good stuff and cheap. The ever changing electric fans, new curious sun lean-to shelters for the beach, the different folding camp/beach chairs and transporters. The ever growing selections of soups, cheeses, incredible chips/ imported cookies/ CANDY - Childrens' books- cook books ALL at Christmas. Yes... food shopping here I find FUN, never boring nor monotonous. I always search keen eyed for the next innovative product. Shopping is an adventure, stimulating experience here - - it's all in the attitude and outlook as you shop for that bread those eggs burgers chicken milk juice veggies. These are " my most loved" products: at the top- - chocolate cupcakes back this week (gone 3-4 years) and their large chocolate cake, apple pie, cinnamon buns, croissants, Dave's 21 grain bread, tres leches cake. Their 1/2 sheet cakes are very very delicious- - they USED to offer strawberry flavoring too! ( bring it back!) Oh yes , interesting grains, Indian lentils chinese sausage, real Basmati Rice in the famous burlap zippered bag, Costco ( " Kirkland") brand dish soap MUCH better than Dawn/cheaper too, instant coffee ( new here this week), spinach artichoke tub of cheese dip, giant rolls of aluminum foil, golf umbrella sets ( super strong- - one big one small)school lunch boxes/supplies in September. Cotton large thick beach towels ( Great as regular towels), sheepskin rugs, Kirkland flannel sheet sets, family underwear, socks, boots -- well made/ good textiles, good buys. Their shrubs trees flowering plants. In 2008 at the Minneapolis store I bought a beautiful 7 ft 5 stem birch tree which today on our pond is 30 ft tall. ALL my plantings from Costco thrived, none died. My mother bought Costco's fine jewelry and had them appraised. Costco does not follow through with the membership deals online...I saw on Google that I could join for $65 and get a $45 gift card. Now Costco is telling me I need a promo code and it was only on Groupon. I joined on Costco.com and it stated I just needed to do auto renewal and I would receive the deal and gift card. Costco is a huge company and refuse to give me a gift card cause I didn't sign up on Groupon. I am canceling my membership...cause it's expensive and no better than BJs or Sams which are cheaper memberships. read more

My mother has been a patient of the hearing aid department for over a decade and has had exceptional service with Ryan. My advice is if you can't get Ryan, don't go here. I have been trying to get the manager, Kasey Bean, to call me back since June 10th about a problem with my 96 year old mother's hearing aids. I've called multiple times since June 10th. I can't bring my mom in because her health is failing rapidly and I just wanted to replace a hearing aid without bringing her in so that she could hear her loved ones voices as she is nearing end of life. I explained this to Ryan on June 10 and he was kind and told me that he needed manager approval and I should expect a call back the next day! I was very pleased with that reply. I heard nothing. I called back on June 15 and was told by Kasey that to get the hearing aid replaced required approval from "regional" and that they are closed on the weekend. I called back on June 23rd as I thought that gave her plenty of time to call regional. The person I spoke to asked me to hold so that he could give Kasey a note that I was on the phone. After holding several minutes, the man returned and said she couldn't take the call. I called on June 25th, left another message. I called just now on June 30 and left another message. Just call me. If you can't help me, let me know, so I can buy a lousy pair on Amazon so my mother has some ability to communicate with loved ones at this very difficult time in her life. My father and I went through checkout and we both had our cards readily available, but she scanned mine and my father paid. She proceeded to harass us over the fact that my father should have scanned his card if he was the one paying and scolded us regarding this. She made my father and I very upset and instead of escalating the situation I said okay, next time. She proceeded to scan angrily and my father asked why this was a problem as we have Sams Memberships and this is never an issue. Instead of de-escalating the situation, we were told to maybe go there instead. We left fairly upset and almost do not wish to continue our Costco services because of such rude customer service. I've been a Costco member for decades. I like this store BUT... the self checkout should be for items 15 or less. Not huge cart loads. The selection at this store is decent but something has changed. I can't put my finger quite on what. This is why I'm giving this Costco 3 stars. The Food Court. It's outside of the store entrance. Fine. But they recently went to kiosk style ordering. Which has become in my opinion chaotic. I'm extremely annoyed because every single time I've tried to order a Berry Sundae it's out of stock???? I even asked the person behind the counter if they truly were out of stock, and got a dry response. Never had this issue when i did in person ordering. Something is not right. My wife and I recently each purchased hearing aids at the Bradenton location and I've been experiencing a problem with one of mine and since we were at this location I was hoping for someone to just take a moment and check it out by hooking it up to their diagnostic machine just to maybe tweak it quickly. Nope. Not without an appointment. As far as I could see, no one was there and I saw three ladies doing nothing. Fortunately I have a backup pair and can wear them but what if all of a sudden it stopped working completely and I didn't have any backup? Then what?? Tire center where will give you false information about what tires you need. I have a 2008 Lexus IS250, and they told me I needed two different size tires for the front and rear tire which is FALSE, so I didn't qualify for a discount, and it caused the alignment on my car to be off. So my front ties have uneven wear and have to be replaced, after less then two years. read more

So glad that there was a Costco location so close to our Siesta Key condo. We were able to stock up on everything we needed for our vacation. Also love that their food court used different hot dog buns than we have here in AZ & CA it was almost like a dense soft pretzel bun & the food court also offers Mt. Dew as an option for fountain drinks which we don't have in AZ or CA either. Staff was friendly as usual like you can expect at Costco. Worst pharmacy of all time. I was deeply upset because my dog had just passed away. I had to do telemed to get some comfort meds that I desperately needed. I drove to Costco fr charlotte county only to have the tech rudely tell me no meds were called in. On the verge of tears I walked around the store trying to get ahold of the telemed dr to call script in. I couldn't reach them so I went back to the pharmacy to ask a question & guess what? Totally disappointed in this company. I was a server in a restaurant that had to close due to Corona. I've been in the workforce for 45+ years and never saw unemployment as an option. So, when my restaurant closed, I jumped on the opportunity to work at Costco. I was hired immediately and given a 3 week schedule. I was thrilled, not only because I didn't had a source of income, but because I would have a chance to continue to be productive. However, the crush of customers that occurred at the beginning of the shutdown didn't last as long as anticipated. One weekend, (One week into the schedule I had been given)I thought I overheard other employees being told that their schedules would need to be modified because we were overstaffed. I'm not stupid. I had seen the lines shorten as time went on, so I became increasingly concerned that my 3 week schedule might be all I was going to be able to count on. It turns out it was worse than that. After asking on Sunday, if my schedule was likely to be reduced along with RUMORED scheduled of many others, I was told"no". However, when I attempted to clock in on Monday, it was rejected because I was "not scheduled to work that day". Thanks for the heads up. NOT. And, what is worse is that I had FINALLY gotten through the Florida unemployment site the night before, in order to apply for the gap before getting hired at Costco. Since I had no warning that they might not need me, my application implied that I would be continuing at that job. Even though I had asked, I had no idea they intended to break the promise they made when they gave me that schedule. So, of course, my unemployment application was wrong. Now, thanks to their dishonesty, I am stuck with the others who waited to the last minute to apply. Hopefully, if I'm forced to live in my car, Costco will let me use their parking lot. read more

A good reason to visit Costco We shop at this Costco at Sarasota Square often and have always been very happy with the warehouse store and products. But, when it comes to Yelp I am focused on reviewing restaurants, so this review is on what I believe is called their food court. It is a food court with just one place to buy food, in my case their famous Hot Dog Combo. This jumbo dog is a good ¼ lb with a soft bun, comes with a small drink, and it is very cheap at only $1.50. I've read that it has been this price for over 30 years. My dog today was substantial with a nice texture and good flavor. Condiments are self-service, they offer ketchup, mustard, onions and relish. While Costco is a membership only business, this 'Costco food court' is just outside of the store itself and let's anyone purchase items, member or not. They also offer other items like pizza and chicken, but for me it is always the hot dog combo. There is quite a lot of seating available but it does get busy. read more
