As a chain, it's a neat concept. This isn't a dollar store that has things way over a dollar, everything here truly is $5 or less. I really like that this is the only discount chain, that I am aware of, that has fitness items. Yoga mats, balance boards, hand weights and many of the apparel and accessories that go with it. That's neat and it's a cheap way to try out a new activity without dropping a lot of cash in case you hate it. They even have skateboards there! Every time I've gone into a location, I've badly wanted to buy the squares to build your own fitness floor. I have no idea why, I wouldn't use it, but I want it, lol. I see this chain as a healthy mix of a place to get last minute items you forgot about (phone chargers, birthday cards, Tupperware, games to keep the kids busy) and a place that gives you ideas on things you didn't realize you needed (lots of storage options, home décor, nifty gadgets like lights for dark corners, a variety of travel accessories). Now, how does this location stack up? Well, less shelves are full of merchandise here. Our visit was on a weekday morning, so that might have been a one off, but as I was looking for something I had previously purchased at another location, it really caught my attention. However, the staff here was really friendly and funny at the register, which is more engagement than I encounter at other locations, so they balance out for my overall Five Below expected experience. It's a cool place to check out, especially if you are visiting Sarasota and realized you forgot small items back home. The store mainly consists of clothing for men and women, but also has a limited range of home goods and pet items. I was impressed with the range of men's clothing with the section being as big as the women's. You can find lots of brands that are at a lower cost than they would be elsewhere where (though also maybe a season or two dated ...). In all I thought it was a decent store and I'd go back. You never know what kind of gem you might find. There were not too many people working at the store but those who were seemed friendly enough.

When you shop at TJ Maxx you pretty much always know what you get: a random variety of brand names and not-so-brand names items at a decent discount (items are prices below MSRP). The store has clothing, accessories, shoes, beauty products, and some housewares. I like finding unusual selections I most likely would not find elsewhere. Recently I purchased a hair serum/leave in conditioner that does wonders for my hair that I otherwise wouldn't have known about. :) The store is always clean and well organized and the associates could not be nicer and more pleasant and hard-working. There is ample parking in the plaza parking lot. I enjoy the seasonal items offered and enjoy perusing the shoe section as well. I have found some random pieces that make a nice addition to my house and wardrobe here. While you are in the area you might as well check out the houseware-centric sister store, HomeGoods, down the street. Happy shopping!

What I thought was going to be a quick in-and-out shopping experience turned into a slow shopping spree. Joke was on ME. So many good finds here! For example, back home we do NOT have high-end jewelry or even branded jewelry for that matter. They legit had GUCCI rings, necklaces, earrings and the best branded sunglass case I have ever seen at a secondhand distributor store. I may have to visit a TJ Maxx each time I go on vacations now, just to see the different products logistically placed for each area's demographic. Clearly my fashion and accessory choices reside in Florida.
