I had a very bad experience last evening at the lake grove location. I am still traumatized now. I went to self check out and the receipt print machine went out of paper. The guy who worked there responded and installed a new roll of paper and handed me this 2 pieced receipt which I suppose would work for the checking point at the door. So I went to the door and the receipt checking guy asked me to wait. I waited. The guy started to do the receipts behind me and there was a very long line behind me. I told him I have a kid to pick up at 4:30. it was around 4:17 as the receipt shows and the pick up was 10 min driving away. No one came to solve this which was clearly caused by themself and kept me waiting after I told him again and again I needed to hurry up. I ran to the self check out spot and asked the guy who gave me the broken receipt. This guy knew exactly what happened to the receipt and yet he refused to help me. I ran back to the receipt checking guy and he was still checking other people's receipts and no one was helping this anxious mother who had a kid standing in the cold winter waiting to be picked up. You know how cold yesterday was!!!!!! I started to yell and the receipt checking guy finally let me know. I don't remember how I got to the parking lot and how I drove to my kid. I don't even remember if I had loaded all my stuff in my car. Also, aside from the kid standing in the cold, I have a cancer patient and my other kid running a fever waiting at home for dinner. Purchased a Sony TV back in August. Was informed by store management that the warranty would be applicable overseas where the product was being shipped if needed (shipped to Japan). I Alas the TV keeps shutting down fir no reason. Called Costco and after 4 hours of being transferred back and forth from customer service and tech assistance ( tried several trouble shooting tips) I was then informed the warranty dies not cover the TV since it was shipped out of the country. Contacted corporate and was instructed to ship the TV back to the Lake Grove store for servicing under the warranty at my expense. Was told there were no Costco store in Japan (there are dozens) and could not return to a Japanese based Costco for service which should have been covered under the warranty. Furthermore to add insult to injury they would not send a Sony tech (Sony HQ is in Japan) to my apartment to service the TV. Store management is not trained in company procedures and is misleading their customers regarding both products and warranty requirements. Furthermore corporate management does NOT give a damn about customer service but only in extorting money from its members. I will be canceling my membership and joining BJ 's and Sam's where the customer service is both first and foremost not to mention a lot cheaper. My mom pays for a membership at Costco. She needed me to run there and pick up some BBQ supplies with her card. I had nearly $250 worth of steak and salmon ready to purchase. The overzealous girl at the checkout comes to confirm my membership and notifies me that I am NOT authorized to shop here. I explained that my mother has been a member for nearly 20 years. This is a one time thing. I'm simply doing her a favor and picking this up for her and paying for it the same as if she was here buying it with her membership and card. She is now holding my card close to her neck and condescendingly explaining how we won't be able to purchase anything. At this point have to reach over and PRY my card out of her hand, I am done with this drone. I go to the customer service desk, another equally unintelligent and rude girl is working there. She ignores me for about 45 seconds while she put tags some items on the desk. After almost a minute, she finally looks up and in a monotone voice says "what do you need?" I stay polite and explain my situation, that my "mother's been a member for 20 years. I'm just doing her a favor picking up this food. I have a cart full of meat. Can I just purchase it please?" And just as smugly as the girl before her, she says "no". I explained that we had been pushing the cart around for almost 20 minutes with the meat and fish out of the refrigerator. It's probably against health codes to put the food back on the shelf anyway- can you just let me buy it please? She says they will just put it back in the fridge even if it violates health code. Yeah she literally said that. Long story short, the staff are excruciatingly rude and unprofessional and admit to putting possibly spoiled meat back on the shelf. Anyway, membership canceled. She aggressively up sold us and the final price came to about $365 for prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. Also, I was able to use my insurance for the Warby Parker lenses saving me $60. Sandra didn't even ask about insurance. At the end of her failed sale Sandra raised her voice and shouted at my mother and I - "GO ACROSS THE STREET TO WARBY PARKER AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS". I saved $200 going through Warby Parker. I felt threatened by Sandra and the rest of our day was ruined. Avoid this Costco Vision Center at all costs. If you come early on a weekday/weekend there are always a great selection of free samples near the intersections of the food aisle. Want to take a girl on a date but can't decide where to go? CostCo is a staple in my shopping. The folks here are (usually) over the top with customer service. Anytime I've asked to check stock, purchased something large or needed navigational guidance the help has been incredible. Don't be upset the parking situation is as dire as it is. You're at CostCo so walking an extra 200 ft shouldn't be a hardship. (If it is, I recommend Aldi's across the street.) You should buy your glasses here. ($25 discount when you buy two pairs.) Today, however, was weird. After stopping to pick up my eyeglasses I meandered about on a knee scooter. I had brought an extra bag to cart my stuff around the store as I shopped. Like the old lady that I am, I artfully placed my items on the belt during checkout. Folks, CostCo has a full on freak out if you shop without a cart. They had no idea what to with me. After explaining the cart they grabbed was for another shopper I turned to pay. I had placed my $5 roasted chicken in the basket on my cart. A box of cookies and sandwich rolls were placed in my bag. That's it. The following items were handed to me. You know, to balance with. - Leggings - Pancho - Sweater - Pajama Set - Bag of avocados Right. I looked at the cashier. I looked at the bagger. I looked at the enormous pile in my hands. Bewildered I steered my knee scooter using my forearms, desperately hoping my items would stay put. No offer to help. Not even feigned interest to see if I'd be ok. Thankfully I made it to a table in the dining area. Moral of the story? Don't send an elderly parent or a disabled person to a CostCo solo. Typical Costco. I like this one. It's convenient because its close to my house. It's pretty clean and I'm out usually within 45 minutes. Yes folks... I'm that crazy Costco shopper that goes in.. gets what she needs.. and LEAVES! This place is a disaster area come the weekend and Holidays so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Not as bad as Westbury but pretty darn bad. There are 2 reasons why I have deducted the 5th Star from Costco. 1. You have no express lane forcing myself and others to stand in line with people that have 20 items in their cart while we hold our item or two. I mean you can limit the express lane to 5 items or less. 2. Get on the level of BJ's and accept manufacturer coupons. I'm no cheap skate but I love coupons. I get excited when I save $30 bucks in BJs on bulk items such as toilet paper. So Costco if you do choose to make an express lane and accept my manufacturer coupons I'll love you even more. read more

I have been using the pharmacy here for over a without a Costco card. They have always given me the what I thought was the normal pricing, but today they told me the price was almost double because without a card they couldnt give that price (even though they texted mebwith the prices already). One of the 4 prescriptions I was retreiving is always about half price through Good Rx. so I asked them to check. You would think I broke their arms or something. After 30 min of standing there, they inform me that everything is now MORE EXPENSIVE because insurance wouldnt cover the meds and Good Rx was more expensive than theirnprice now. When I questioned why the price I had always paid (and they texted me about) was lower they got anpharmacist who proceeded to act like a jerk and tell me I needed to have a Costco card to get that price (mind you, I havent had a Costco card for the 18 months I have been using them. Rather than take a minutebto explain it to me, the pharmacist just acted like a jerk telling me that was the price. I felt that he penalized me for asking him to check the Good Rx pricing. This store has always had surley people at the pharmacy, but this guy took the cake. Why arebyou not explaining to customers that there may be a new policy or SOMETHING rather than acting as if you are penalizing them for asking questions. Such an unprofessional crew at this pharmacy. They need to up their game and be less rude to the customers they serve. read more

I have been to a few Costcos in the past & this one is smaller than most of those other ones. However, being a BJ's member I noticed significant differences between my experience here & experiences there. First off, this store has NO express lines. There was a guy behind us who had 1 item! We had 3! Why should we have to stand in line with all the people singlehandedly feeding all of the African continent & a couple countries in Asia when we have so few items? BJ's manages to have an express line & it works wonders. I'm sure it makes people feel less irate about going there as well (since we all know the worst thing about going to a warehouse club is the long & painfully slow lines). Second, this store has no self-check. Same reasons as above. BJs does it & I'm sure it makes the shopping experience better for customers. It does for us, at least. Third, no video games/DVD selection. Try a different Costco or a BJs if you're looking for a discount on a new Wii or PS3 game. Finally, can we not stock some points for game systems & have our gift card selections in a central location? BJ's manages to sell Wii points & does have such a location where you can find ALL gift cards of varying interests (food, movie theaters, etc.). There's no guessing games about whether BJ's has a particular card. My husband had to play just such a guessing game today & encountered someone who seemed very annoyed that someone had the gall to need customer service. I have no sympathy for that attitude. I didn't get much time to look over the selection but it seemed like that of your average warehouse club of that size. They did also have free samples, which made the experience a little better (the hot chocolate was good). Prejudice and discrimination against using my son's EBT lunch money. I always shop at Nesconset Costco when I have to make a large grocery run. I went to Costco today, 11/21/2021 at 1742 at store #206. I could have gone to the one near my home in Commack, but I like the variety at Nesconset Costco and decided to go there. Four employees humiliated my family and I. Two employees laughed because I told them that I would be using the kids' EBT cards ahead of time. Suddenly, four employees, two of whom were from management, gathered around the register to watch. One employee commented to the other, saying, "they don't appear to be financially stable, and they look like they couldn't afford the amount of grocery picked up." On hearing that, my sister, mother, son, and niece felt humiliated. Then they laughed when my EBT pin did not work, which locked my card after three unsuccessful attempts. I told the cashier to suspend the transaction and come back to purchase after figuring out why at the register did not accept the PIN. I was not aware that the floor manager had canceled the entire $1328.29 transaction. After making a call to the side, I decided to use my money to pay for the transaction. My son received $870 for his school lunch as part of America's initiative to make sure no child goes hungry, which was a one-time payment. To support your business, I went to Costco. The way your employees made me feel like a thief and made me feel as if I had no money because I wanted to use an EBT card was completely discriminatory and racist. The cashier began to close the register even after I told her I would be back to pay, and the floor manager told my family and I to join a new line. We approached the cashier at the register as she closed it, and she acted as if she hadn't heard us. The way they treated us was all the more humiliating as a minority in a predominantly white store. The income I earn puts me in a position to buy whatever I want wherever I want. Due to today's prejudice and judgments due to my perceived lack of wealth, I plan to take my business to BJ's, where they will be more than happy to take my money and my son's lunch money. Can you imagine being ridiculed and maltreated when using an EBT card? I expected more from you, Costco, but today's experience told me you don't value me as a customer because I didn't look like money and used an EBT card. I didn't give them any stars as they were delivered terrible customer service, from cashiers to floor managers. None were helpful even after using my money to pay for the transaction, and I can see from their actions that this isn't their first time handling EBT transactions in such a manner. Before today, I wasn't aware that money, in EBT form, was something to be ashamed of. It never occurred to me that I needed to look rich to shop at Costco. Since BJ's came around I haven't visited a Costco. I saw a Groupon from $60 for Costco Gold membership with a few extra surprises. I went online to look up a regular gold membership and the price was $60 what really sold me was the $20 gift card they offered from Groupon. I arrived at this Costco about 9:15 on a Saturday and people was lined up at the gate waiting for this place to open. I thought to myself wow so early. I finally got in and waited on line for customer service so I can redeem my Groupon. The customer service line was long as well. Finally I was next and so excited to be part of the Costco family. I got my membership and took my picture and grabbed a coupon book. I was ready to shop. The store was pretty organized for the most part. Produce section was very fresh and a lot of staff walking the floors to assist you. I wait online and now it's time to pay and they tell me they only take VISA. Wait, did I miss the memo. I should have been told that while I was at the membership counter. No AmEx or Discover. This Saturday I didn't leave the house with a VISA card. Only my AmEx and Discover Card. So I had to leave everything behind. What a waste of a day. They told me I still can get my items if I applied for a Visa card through them. NO I just want the items in my cart I wasted a few hours of life shopping for things I couldn't even purchase. I actually never had a Costco membership so I always tagged along with friends & family who did. This is the first time I shopped at this particular Costco though. The parking lot is a circus, there are minivans EVERYWHERE. There actually is a fair amount of parking spots, but these said minivans like to hold up an entire path just to get a spot thats 3 parking spots closer to the door. No parking etiquette at all, who stops directly in the middle? How is the other minivan going to back out? As soon as I walked in, I was greeted not by the employee who checks your Costco membership card, but by a stench! Turns out, they must of been changing the garbage or something but just left it there with the bag open. This Costco looks standard like the other ones I have been to. I did notice their bakery section is a lot smaller and they don't offer as much of a variety of baked goods as other locations. One thing I don't like about Costco (and if you don't shop there frequently, you won't know) is their prices. To be more clear, the price that's listed above or under the item is NOT the actual price. So apparently, the price you see is the price based on the pound. So if you see $19.99 make sure you read the fine print, you might end up paying $39.99 for it. Confusing to explain, and to comprehend LOL. So the main reason I wanted to go to Costco was to get one of their churros from the food court. At $1 each, it's quite the steal. I also got an açaí bowl bc at $4.99, why not? The Churros were not as good as I had remembered. In fact they were not good at all. A churro is suppose to be hollow in the middle but this one was like a long fried piece of bread. There was also only one person working the entire food court, he was going as fast as he could but they definitely should put someone on the schedule to help him. I had a membership years ago and let it lapse because I never used it but this year my sister gave me a membership for my birthday so I went in to redeem it. First, I walked in to the first door available and was yelled at that I was using the wrong door. I explained that I was coming in for a membership (the membership counter was straight ahead from the door I was entering) and she only stopped when it was clear I wasnt going to listen to her. If I wasnt coming in to specifically redeem a gift membership, I would have turned around and walked straight out. After submitting every piece of information anyone could possibly ask, I went into the club just to grab some vitamins while I was there. When I got to the checkout line (on a Wednesday at 11:30am) I waited a minute, then when none of the lines moved, I cut my losses and left. Cause if you love those or any of the fresh breads that they have here... you will sure miss them when you go over to BJs and Sam's Club because theirs pale in comparison to what costco does.
