Just became a new member of Costco yesterday. Got gas at less than 10 cents below everyone else and shopped for a lot of small items for the home. My biggest surprise were the rib eye steaks. Cheaper than all other places and they some of the most tender and best tasting steaks I have ever cooked. I will be going back to try some of their other meats. read more

My family going back YEARS has always loved shopping at Costco. We purchase everything we possibly can through Costco, from furniture, eye exams, gas, food etc. One of the reasons we do purchase everything through Costco is because their customer service is second to none. Unfortunately this is no longer the case since the new GM, Greg Wright, came to the Mobile AL location. Greg Wright is condescending and insulting to customers, bordering on harassment. He doesn't exemplify the Costco standard but rather he's an embarrassment to the company's standards. The employees at this location are, also, not happy as they once were. Comments have been made by employees regarding Greg's rude manner. Bring back the old GM who actually cared about the store and it's employees/customers or you will lose your customers. Greg should not be allowed to treat customers in the degrading way that he does. In the meantime, my family will take our business elsewhere. read more

Buyer Beware of Costco warranty .I bought 55 inch led tv with 1 year warranty +3 years All State +1 year Costco in Nov 2020.Unfortunately the TV started showing vertical and horizontal lines and no pictures'. tried to contact all involved parties but none of them would take the blame and blaming each other. Love me some Costco! They may not have everything you want, but when they do they have copious amounts of it! This is our once a month "resupply" place for all those things in life like toilet paper, tooth paste, shredded cheese (because cheese goes on EVERYTHING!!), etc etc. And the best part is it's NOT Sams Club. ;) read more

Omg I came here the first day hey opened and I was not impressed because there were so many things missing. Today, I think it is awesome! Furniture now, huge amount of organic items unlike SAMs Club and tons of samples lol. The store looks great and has a super good selection of goodies you just can't get anywhere else. Man I can't wait until the new store opens in Diberville! That will be a 20 minute drive vs crossing state lol. Going back to my Gulfport SAMs is gonna be hard :( read more

I love Costco; I love everything about Costco. What I do not like is paying 10% state tax on food items. (Lets get with it Alabama.) I visit Costco's all across the country. It is a cheaper way to feed my brood when we are on the road. I love their selection of organics and for my kids getting a hot dog at the end of a shopping trip is a great reward. I was scammed by an employee of Costco at check out! When I realized what had happened I asked to speak to a manager who downplayed the issue as the employee was new!!! I was furious! I then decided to ask for another manager as I was walking out at the customer service counter, very glad I did!. I got to actually speak to the real manager, Mr Carlos, who informed me that the other man I spoke to was a supervisor not a manager. The incident in a nut shell is the checker was supposed to take off all the money on a cash Costco card and didn't take all the money off and the difference was added to my other card to cover the overage. When I left I luckily rechecked my receipt and he actually took off the amount I asked him to take off of my credit card. Knowing he still had money on my cash card he still had it sitting next his register when I returned to him. He knowingly kept money on my card and thought I wouldn't notice! Unbelievable especially for Costco! I've shopped at Costco for years back when it was Price Club and NEVER had such a horrible experience. read more

I love Costco! A friend sent me a membership as a gift and it is the gift that keeps on giving! The food in Costco is great. They have a lot of your basics but also some great varieties of food that you don't find in the regular supermarkets. The food they make in house is delicious. I bought 20 mesquite chicken wings tonight for dinner and it cost less than $9! That's a great price for wings! I also enjoy trying free samples and have bought many of the products I tried in the store. I also definitely take advantage of the cheap gas prices! I'm so happy Costco came to mobile! read more

I'm definitely a fan although I don't make it out to Costco as often as If like. It's no fun dragging a whiny teen. I like them better than Sam's and grabbing a bite to eat after shopping is always great. The Kirkland's hummus is great and the mangos they had this summer were pure ambrosia. I'm so thrilled to have one in Mobile. The samples are a great way to see if you'll like an item before you buy. Lace up the sneaks, leave the complainers and home and have a pleasant afternoon shopping for stuff you need. read more

Great warehouse store. Excellent place to purchase meat and seafood, snacks, bulk household items, and clothes. I have purchased jackets, workout clothes and sweaters lately. Costco it's own brand of grain free dog food called Kirklands. The large bin of peanut butter pretzels are delicous. Soft drinks are cheaper than anywhere around. The Christmas decoration and gift section is very broad. A year of generic Claritin can be purchased for less than 20 dollars. They always have new items and lots of free samples. I also saved 1000 on my refinance through Costco's mortgage program and got a 100 dollar gift card for using their program. Gas prices are cheaper as well. They do not have diesel. There are many benefits to being a member. read more

I enjoy coming here all the time. I like it here better than Sam's Club. There's a lot of good deals but some of them you can go to your local market to get a better deal. Overall a great place to shop in bulk and they have good prices on liquor than most places in Mobile. read more

Costco customer practices are very deceptive. I couldn't get back to renew my membership before it expired in July...I came in today 9/20 and they will only renew it back to July next year since that's my member date....SAMs doesn't do this. The girl at the desk, the only one working there and made me wait 15 min, told me if I complained her supervisor would make it 12 months instead of 10 but he's off today. I went back to SAMs. Why should I have to go through all the red tape. I also know someone who went through the same trouble trying to get his rebate off the executive level membership. Costco Puts itself out there as such an enlightened corporation but they just a big corporation trying to slip in extra costs and fees on their members. Never again. read more

I purchased a bed online on November 21 with delivery date 10-12 days. Received a note from the shipper on Dec 1 the bed would arrive 14 to 19 December. That does not work for me. I e-mailed the shipper yesterday ... no response. I tried a chat on Costco's website last evening. Long form to fill out ... twenty minutes of waiting to chat and no response. I called Costco this afternoon and the expected wait time is 72 minutes (Really ... does anyone wait 72 minutes for a phone call?). I tried chat again ... I am now 12 minutes into that wait. By the way, I was just kicked off the chat without speaking with a customer service representative ...ugggh! Costco may have good stores ... They simply don't have a clue online ... bring on Amazon and Walmart! Never again Costco! read more

A newly opened Costco with the usual contents. The standout is the optical department and its manager in particular. The prices are second to none and the expertise of Sharon (the manager) is more evident than any other optical experience I've ever had in decades of wearing glasses. She is simply incredible at her job and the reason I will never get my glasses anywhere else ever again. The downside is I'm from Toronto and I'll really want to come back to Mobile just to get glasses from Sharon! :) read more

Costco Pharmacy is great, the staff is outgoing, friendly and fast if they are aware you will be waiting for a prescription to be filled. The meat department is always great and willing to cut something special if asked or not able to find something. Lastly, the gas is cheapest in the area. read more

Costco is considered my second home to me now. I used to go to Sam's Club, but since the quality of their business has done down in every aspect, I thought it was time to switch to the new Costco. I will say it was a great decision. For one, you are greeted by people who seem to actually like their job, and all of people working around the store and at the register are just as nice as can be. The best part those is the prices. I bought 120 dishwashing pods for eight bucks... I nearly cried tears of joy. This is a shopping experience that my fiancée and I actually agree on because we are just all of a sudden in a good mood shopping here. That is mainly caused by the 48 pack of Kirkland signature beer for 21 bucks... I mean come on!! That's amazing, and the beer tastes like Miller! Kirkland's signature brand stuff is just awesome. I keep getting bursts of joy typing this because I get to go on my bi weekly shopping trip here Saturday. All in all it's just a great place! You can't beat the prices or the hospitality anywhere! OH and you can buy a footling hotdog with a drunk for 1.50 in the food court! See, I keep finding awesome things about Costco. Thank you Mobile for finally blessing us with a Costco... My bank account and blood pressure sincerely appreciate it!!! read more

I absolutely love all Costcos that I've been a member of, except this one. This one is just okay. Optical typically seems rushed, and there is a gentleman that works there that makes me feel like a bother when I'm working with him (ordering/trying on glasses). I feel the level of care is minimal. Our glasses always seem to eventually get a permanent film on them when ordering here (but never from other Costco store - in many years prior - same lenses). Customer service is sometimes good, sometimes not so much - it really depends on the people of the day. Food doesn't seem as fresh as other Costcos. But - it is Costco, so it's not bad compared to everything else around. When and if you've been to great Costcos, though, you may be a little disappointed with this one. (-I've lived near other Costcos located in/near Bellingham WA, Washington DC, Virginia Beach, Omaha, and Jacksonville - ALL of these Costcos seem better quality then the Mobile one). Maybe my expectations are too high. read more

Non-members are no longer allowed to visit the Food Court. Within the last few days, Costco (Mobile, AL) decided to change their policy on allowing non-members to purchase items from the Food Court while still not allowing them to frequent the rest of the store. Since I do not have a need for items in bulk but I do enjoy the food from their Food Court, this change in policy has ruined my experience with Costco. This was my first visit to the new Costco. We joined at the executive level as from a dollars and cents point of view it is actually the same price or better than regular membership. You get a $20.00 cash card immediately, coupons for freebee's worth at least another 20 and 2% back on all purchases. That comes out to more than the $55.00 dollar difference in the membership cost between the 2 levels. What impressed me most was the remarkable welcoming friendly attitude of the staff. One of them, "Robbie" went out of his way to explain things, and to make us feel like valued customers. With a very professional experienced attitude when we talked he had just transferred from another company (to remain nameless). For Costco this is a find as his professional nature alone to us and others and his treating of visitors like a customer should be treated made my afternoon a pleasure and this experience a five star one. Wow....if this persists they are going to be a remarkable success. It is a very large very impressive store in terms of its array of goods. The prices seem good with some better, some worse than Sam's but the experience is clearly a step up. Maybe...just maybe this will make Sam's "up its game"......in the interim I will enjoy Costco and hope to meet more staff like Robbie. read more

My wife and I went to purchase a Costco membership today. The greeter that met us was fantastic and pointed us to the membership desk. This is where everything went down hill. I waited in line for a few minutes and was called to the desk. When I inquired about becoming a new member the associate told us we had to fill out an application on the table first. Ok wish they had told us that first. We filled out the application and got back in line. The same associate called us back to her terminal. She took our IDs and application and then walked away. We waited a few minutes until another associate walked up and said not sure why she walked away and begins typing the information directly from our drivers license. Ok if your doing that what was the point of having me leave the line and fill it out? Why not have me go get the application and fill it out while you type the info from our drivers license? The nail in the coffin was when I went to pay for the membership and was told you don't take MasterCard and Visa. Sorry Costco one or maybe two strikes I can deal with. You had three in a matter of 30minutes. read more

I have been hearing for years how wonderful Costco is. After visiting the Birmingham store with friends, I was indeed impressed. However, after joining and making purchases at my nearest store in Mobile, I have been sorely disappointed. They're always moving things around where I can't find them, and too often I purchase an item on one visit only to learn it's unavailable on the next trip. Several staples in the health and beauty department which I regularly purchased at Sam's are not offered at Costco. And the worst experience is with the walnuts--they have bugs! We purchase several large bags a year, and have been doing so for many years at Sam's and other places. Never before have I found bugs hatching out a few weeks after purchase. And it has happened several times over the past year. Yuck! read more

My wife and I had been to Costco as guests a couple of times and were pretty impressed with the store in general and especially with the employees. The ones we encountered were extremely nice and seemed to take "customer care" very seriously. As a matter of fact we were so impressed that we let our Sams Club membership lapse and headed to Costco on Mothers Day 2016 to join up. When we walked up to the service desk I was surprised to observe a Costco employee named Erica being a little rude to the couple in front of us. Not knowing what might have transpired between her and the couple I just dismissed it. When it was my turn I stepped up and told her I was interested in getting a membership. In a VERY unfriendly voice she pointed down to the end of the counter and said "You'll have to fill out an application". She then turned her back to us and started shuffling some papers. We finally located a table down past the service counter with some applications on clipboards. After filling an application out I went back to the counter and approached Erica. She stared at me with a scowl on her face and didn't say a word. I laid down the clipboard, thinking she would process it in her very unfriendly way. Instead, she turned and walked away, leaving us standing there. At this point I decided to tear up my app and take my business elsewhere. I never said a word but I guess the look on my face said it all. A young man named Gregory was working close by and said "Sir, I'll be with you in just a second". Well, I'm glad I decided to give him a chance. Gregory processed our application quickly, explained everything extremely well and answered a couple of questions I had. We did our shopping and had no further problems. As we were leaving I saw that Erica was back behind the desk, still not smiling. I started to stick around and see if her attitude had improved but decided not to. Costco management needs to observe how all their employees interact with their customers, ESPECIALLY, the employees that are the first line of ambassadors to new members. Except for Erica's attitude Costco deserves 5 stars. read more
