Formerly The Rusty Rooster, the now The Shiny Hen houses 47 booths/vendors selling antiques,…read morevintage items, home decor, jewelry, and gift items, as well as homemade chilled goodies. They post regularly via their Facebook page with many ongoing booth updates and all booths are refreshed monthly, usually the first of the month. People get super-excited about the booth resets that are filled with seasonal upcycled and original decor. This is a female-owned business! So, like a hawk, I have been looking for a 1950s stepback hutch for years and was delighted to find one that she had posted (within 24 hours) was still available. If you call they will honor a 24-hour hold to allow you to inspect in person and buy the item or you may buy over the phone. If the item is over $100 their policy allows Layaway for 30 days with 50% down and 50% in 30 days, with no refunds or exchanges. Items are sold as-is and you must have an ID when picking up your item. I saw. I called. 10 people inquired behind me. Upon inspection the next day, I found the hutch was *exactly* what I was looking for and the price was competitive compared to online offerings and other area shops. The shop owner didn't have any references for movers, so I contacted movers I've used many times over the past two years to schedule a moving day within my window. This was a somewhat pricey move, so if you're without a personal truck and people to help move figure that cost into the price before buying. I knew I wanted this piece and had a place for it, so it wasn't a consideration before buying. When I had a date for the move, I called so they could expect me and received pickup instructions. I finished paying for the piece the day before the move, and couldn't have been more delighted with the whole buying, layaway, and moving process. I recommend using covered moving and/or wrapping furniture whether you are self-moving or hiring a company. Highway 43 can be busy with commercial traffic. If your move gets delayed beyond the 30-day window, they do assess storage fees by the day at that time. Super cute shop, with a friendly owner who will work with you, and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for new seasonal treasures featured via their Facebook page that has a 4.8/5 Facebook review rating and 15,000 followers.

I really loved how well lit the huge showroom is. In some of the other local stores, I really feel like I need a flashlight to see anything. Did I mention organization? Wow, this store is topnotch with layout and staging. There has been attention to detail. Yes, there are booth spaces throughout the store, but they are done so well, that the transition from one to another is pretty seamless. If you are near Dauphin & Florida, definitely stop in~ The staff is very kind and helpful.

Know you know how old I am. ;) There's nothing old or 80's about this store. It's a great place to find the latest trends, and they carry everything you could possibly want or need for your house. I found so many things I need for my home, inside and outside. Actually, I bought my patio furniture cushions from this store in another city, back when this chain store was called Garden Ridge. They still have the same cushions, and they're very reasonably priced - maybe $30 per full seat cushion. They have plenty of garden items. My favorite thing in the store is the housewares. They had a great selection of furniture, including some pretty little gold and mirror tables that I think will make great nightstands. I found some ottomans similar to ones my BFF priced at another store and the ones here were half the price. They have an aisle of mirrors, a few aisles of pictures for every room in the house, a huge selection of trendy lamps, bedding and linens, bath accessories, and small kitchen appliances and cookware. Seriously, everything you want or need can be found in At Home. Really, you'd have to see it all to believe it. The prices are very reasonable, and much less than you would pay for the same products in other stores.
