I started using Sam's delivery service since COVID and continue to do so. I prefer delivery over pickup. I've only had a couple of bad experiences with the most recent was a driver leaving my items on the naked concrete of my carport as I had instructed items be placed in a specific spot as most delivery drivers have no problem. I did not know Sam's stopped putting items in boxes and I'm not sure why they stopped (makes no sense). I usually meet the drivers at the door. I still give them an overall 4 Star Rating as I love the delivery service. I would suggest they start back using boxes please. The delivery service is a good service to definitely to keep but make sure you have drivers that believe in giving excellent service (as that is also what drives bigger tips and your business; I am going to tip the driver regardless). The scan and pay is the way to go. If you download it from the app, it saves you time from having to wait in the checkout. You can't beat the price on the slice of pizza. I always want something when I come in here. They sell in bulk almost in everything. They carry name brand clothes which majority of the time are marked down. My kid loves the snacks I get her for school here. One thing I haven't been in here is the pharmacy, but I plan on checking them out. read more

Geesh! Tough crowd for the Sam's here, here in Mobile. My take is, what's not to like? If you've seen one wholesale store you've seen them all. However, some have more selection, nicer digs, and all the fancy fixings. Sam's Club, not so much. There are are newer clubs that offer a much wider range of things, but that doesn't bother me. Sam's lives up to its purpose-- wholesale prices on what they do offer. As far as wholesale clubs go, Sam's is pretty average. But is it worth it? (An occasional trip when you've got a friend with a membership) I'd say so. read more

This Sam's club has a different layout than what I'm use to use to in NC. Seems like everything was opposite to what I'm use to. The store was clean and organized. There are loads of yellow tag deals around the store. I saw a few items I haven't seen at my local Sam's club. We were able to quickly check out in self check out. We picked up a few items (hot dogs, churro and drinks) from the food court area. All the items were tasty. We love the cheap prices. This place needs all new staff. They are so rude. The parking lot looks like a trash dump. There are never any buggies they are all rolling around in the parking lot. The pizza is always out they always are understaffed. The bathrooms are nasty and un stocked with anything soap. Tp. Out all the time. And the parking.... lord help us. Horrible. I've been a patron of Sam's Club for probably 20 years. It's true, the prices are amazing, and if you shop shrewdly, you can and do save a ton of money. The staff is always more than happy to go out of their way to help you. Recently I was looking for a set of paring knives for my daughter's new house. I knew the ones at my house had been purchased from Sam's, and knew how they were packaged and where in the store they would be. However, when I arrived to that aisle, they were nowhere to be found, even though there was a place for them and the price displayed on the shelf. I was a little deflated. I found an employee who was nearby stocking shelves, and asked him about the knives. He said he had seen them and knew exactly what I was talking about. He volunteered to go to the back of the store to see if they had some in stock that hadn't been put on the shelves yet. I didn't get my hopes up, and then he was gone for quite a while - maybe 15 minutes? I almost gave up on the employee returning. To my surprise, he then walked up with a container full of the exact paring knives I was looking for! He had gone to the back and opened a box, and not only found the knives, brought some for me, but also brought a sleeve of them to put on the shelf. I was so taken aback and pleasantly surprised, that I tried to tip him, which he refused. I think it says quite a bit about a company that an employee will stop what they are doing, even when quite busy, to track down a relatively cheap item (probably less than $20) for a customer, bring it back, and then refuse a tip for his trouble. He was also so respectful the whole time he talked to me (yes ma'am, no ma'am, thank you and you're most welcome). I left the encounter with a smile on my face, and a resolve to speak to the employee's manager, which I did before I left. I know the store is large, and sometimes overly-crowded, sometimes due to world events they do run out of things, and occasionally it can be a pain to trek around to find what you're seeking. None of that is a company problem, though, and I've never left an interaction with an employee there feeling anything less than respected and pleased. I will be a loyal Sam's Club for a long, long time specifically due to their customer service. Pricing is good, stock is helpful, but NOTHING beats the quality of employees and deference they show to their customers. read more

I love bulk stores like Sam's and enjoy the wide selection of items for purchase in large quantities. You can buy anything from your favorite sports drinks, snacks, baked goods, fresh meat to home goods and furniture. The prices are definitely worth the cost of membership. As far as this particular location is concerned, I do find it to be clean and well organized with a friendly staff. The reason I give it a 4/5 is based on the fact that there have been numerous occasions they've been out of stock on items I am interested in purchasing. Again, if this were once in a while, I would be fine. But the regular occurrence of them not having a permanent (not seasonal) item is a bit frustrating. I now understand all the bad reviews. Normally we just shop in the main part of the store, but earlier this week I went to the optical department. Very unprofessional, they don't seem to have a basic understanding of how to approach or handle customers: I went to the counter, the manager finished up with a customer, ignored me completely and went to another customer he was helping. In a professional run store, he would have 1st acknowledged my presence and said he would be with me in a moment, he did not. Had he checked with me at all I would have left because there was nobody to do a refraction (measure for glasses), instead I stood there for about 10 minutes. Finally another employee came to the counter and asked what I needed, I told her a refraction and she didn't say a word, just left and talked to the manager, then came back and asked if I had an appointment, I said no and again she left without saying anything...several minutes later I left, I wouldn't trust that group to fit glasses on my dog, let alone myself or anyone I cared about. These idiots don't have the faintest idea of what professional customer service means! Recently I went to Costco's optical service dept. with my husband, the difference between the two is like night and day, large selection at Costco, small at Sam's Club, professional & engaging customer service at Costco, crap at Sam's Club. read more

Great cake! Picked up a birthday cake for my son's birthday. It was a small chocolate cake with chocolate icing, surrounded by 10 cupcakes (see pic) of alternating vanilla and chocolate. This club has good prices on lots of household items. We get our spinach, eggs, dairy, and creamer there on occasion. The samples are a nice treat. The lines are not as quick and efficient as Costco, so I usually head to Costco instead. Parking is tough at this location too, but not really the fault of the club. read more

Twice in the last week I have had to hear African-American women LOUDLY using foul language while on phones in the store. The first time, I asked an associate that was next to me, " do we have to listen to this ?". He replied that I "could always leave the store". My report to store managfement went unheeded as well. When I caledl the Sam's Club complasint line, I was told that the cLub "can't control the free speech of customers". The second time, I called the complaint line and was left on hold while a rep called the store. I was told no manager was available to speak with me. I am no longert sure that Sam's Club is a safe and decent place for women and children to visit. Perfect place to buy anything in bulk. They have tire center, eye center, decent wine choices, and anything you need for the home. Lines can be long at times, but they move quick. The worse thing about this Sams Club is its location. Parking can be a major drain. This has to be the worst parking lot in America. If you are like me, bring a list and stick to it. This place is a nightmare. A larger Sams Club with a decent selection of everything. The traffic engineering in this Mall is designed to make you feel like you are in a City three times the size of Mobile. Expect fender-benders, lines and traffic hang ups just trying to park your car. Expect a nightmare cross walk of frustrated pedestrians and drivers. Expect the worst possible examples of the pushy/rude combination of both shoppers and employees. I don't honestly know why anyone shops at this store. As a side note, the DirectTV guys that are in alot of Sams Clubs -- in this store -- push the limits of personal space and approriateness as they tell at people, even jump in front of carts to stop you and try to sell you DirectTV. As such, this Sams is a little like visiting a crowded, Asian-Pacific Market selling live animals. It is loud, crowded, pushy and a little dangerous at times. read more

I wish I could give the bakery a separate rating because their cakes and cupcakes are divine!!! The rest of the store is just okay. I am thankful for the self checkout counters and we always try to use them to make the check out process quicker. This review is for the tire and auto department. I am giving them 2 stars due to the extremely long wait. I arrived at SAMs around 8:45 and asked for a simple rotate and balance for my vehicle. The guy at the front desk told me it should be finished in an hour. I come back to the desk at 10:15 and my vehicle still is not ready. There is now a lady at the front desk and she said it should be another 30 minutes. So I decided to wait on a bench beside the working bays. At 11:00 they haven't even STARTED on my vehicle!! It has been 2.25 hours and they haven't started!! I have used other SAMs location for this service due to the price and I have never had this issue. I have always been in and out in 30-45 minutes. Sam's Club is cheaper than Costco on the paper goods and most grocery items but as a member of both I have to say Costco has them beat with the employees helpfulness, meat dept. and pharmacy. I definitely like Sam's self checkouts that make checking out much faster. read more

There is a fine line between being educated and being smart. A good case to point out of someone being too educated is the current location of the Sams club in Mobile. Leaving it at its old location or relocating it to a more uncongested accessible area would have been smarter in my opinion! For anyone who lives in Mobile it is a well known fact that Airport Boulevard traffic around the vicinity of the Bel Air Mall reaches its apogee. It has always been this way since the malls were built back in the 50's and 60's. Why anyone would want to locate Sams club at the old Gayfers location is beyond the best of my knowledge! It would have been better off to leave it where it was. Getting in and out at this location is a horrid nightmare! A better location would have been across the interstate from the Hank Aaron stadium. I used to shop at their old location regularly and its because of this current location that I rarely shop at Sams club anymore! ***Update 2/16/14*** Recently I learned that Cosco is going to build their location exactly where I mentioned in my comment above. Looks like they are the smarter ones I guess! I've heard a lot of good positive comments about Cosco and I hope they live up to what I've been told. read more
