We don't come here very often unless having errands in the area. There are other locations closer to home but this is still a great store. Always enjoyed the number of gas pumps when they first opened this place while other stores in Collin county additional ones in after opening. New here but also at a location in Lewisville is light indicator to tell driver which pump is green/red in that lane. See photo. For this Sat I don't recall seeing bigger crowd shopping at any store in Collin county. We try to avoid them on weekends but needed a place to walk indoors to get a bit of exercise. Their new 9-10 for executive members only is frustrating for someone that doesn't need to pay more. Due to my work schedule being able to come in during normal retail hours was great until Ali turned me away. This new policy rubs me the wrong way and I will be checking Sam's club. read more

Stood in line for 30 minutes trying to leave the store. How about you stop treating your customers like criminals, and just adjust your prices. I've been shopping at Costco for years, and not once has a cashier ever missed an item in my cart, nor have I ever seen a customer get turned back to check out for a missed item. I'm so tired of being forced to wait in line to have my receipt checked just to get out of the store. This store is always insanely busy, and it takes forever to get out when there are only 1 or 2 people checking receipts. Also, just FYI, getting shaken down for window treatments, solar panels, ect. while I'm being forced to stand in yet another line doesn't improve my shopping experience either. Wow encountered a very rude employee today. A sign indicated pajama sets were on sale for $5.00. The table was a mess and piled up with other clothes so I was trying to find a set and all of a sudden, an employee came up and curtly asked what is it you are looking for? I told her and she said we're all sold out. So I said ok and then she just seemed annoyed and said can you move your cart out of the way so I can take the sign down? Her tone and demeanor were very off putting. I think she saw my annoyed look so she backed down and softened up a bit. I get that Customer Service is not easy and she's probably the one who has to organize and fold the clothes on the table which must be frustrating but wow her rudeness was just off the charts. Again I know Costco is busy, crowded, and chaotic and working there is not easy but lady, get some better CS skills and even more, back off. read more

Horrible customer service from Stephanie who was working on the phone November 3, 2025 at 9:14am. I just called for an appointment with the optical department, and I clicked on the optical departments number and little miss Stephanie answered the phone. I asked how I can make an appointment and she was extremely demeaning and disrespectful then transferred me somewhere else. Very rude person- poor communication skills. BE VERY CAREFUL GOING TO THIS LOCATION WITH A DOG.... Seems like each Costco has their own way of speaking to a dog policy. For proof of this, I included a photo of my wife's membership card HOLDING OUR DOG. What's my point, we were physically in the Plano location and they took a photo. So clearly they were aware and cool with a dog was in the store. No questions asked. Having said that, I'll continue with my experience in McKinney.... 11/26/203 around 2pm... We go through the front door and TAYLOR (young male, long/ blonde hair (oh YES... I'm naming names and specifics. Had I known your last name, I would have disclosed that too.))... TAYLOR stops my wife to say that dogs are not allowed. She explains that her dog is a support animal and that wasn't good enough for him. Not only that, he calls a manager. Not only that, he (loudly and in a combative tone) asks my wife about her reason for having a service dog. He asked her three times. Let me make sure I'm driving the point home about the scene here... We are at the entrance on a busy Sunday. People (not sprinkles of people but a nice sized group) are walking inside. TAYLOR is being loud, combative, and condescending.... AND asking my wife (IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS) about her "need" for a service dog. Not cool. Not compliant. And the more I wrote about this, the more irritated I get that I didn't curse him out. Anyways... The manager finally comes. My wife shows the manger proof that we have a service dog and we go on our way. I was no longer interested in shopping there and I left the store. The manager was cool for the most part. No complaints there. She verified my wife's card/ proof and asked us not to put the dog in a basket. Back to TAYLOR.... TAYLOR was not supposed to ask specifics about someone's reason for needing a service animal. I can care less if they want to know if the animal s a service animal. But I've worked in compliance. I've had several jobs where one cannot ask about a person's disability, medical issue, or even certain aspects of their past. Per APA SERVICES' site: "They may only ask two questions if it is not obvious what service the dog provides: (1) Is the animal required because of a disability; and (2) What work has it been trained to perform? No further proof is required. Any animal, not just dogs, can be an ESA. ESAs do not require individual training" So it's pretty evident that TAYLOR needs to be educated on APA matters and he also needs training on customer service. It took everything in me not to further escalate a situation that HE was already publicly escalating. If I were anyone else, this could have been escalated further, but I decided to leave it alone. So McKinney Costco, you're welcome. But y'all need to do something with TAYLOR... who worked the front entrance on 11/26/23 around 2pm. So here's the bottom line that I've gathered with bringing dogs in Costco... I'm sure it depends on which location you're at, but the big thing is "dogs in the baskets". Don't put your dog in their baskets. That's a reasonable ask, due to food and other sanitary reasons. The Plano location was cool with bringing a dog in, but don't put it in the basket. In McKinney, after we showed proof of the service dog issue, they asked us not to put the dog in the basket. In any event, I probably won't be back to this location. Whether you have a service animal or a plain dog, I suggest calling ahead and making sure TAYLOR isn't working that day. That or simply go to one of the Plano locations instead. read more

I was hoping that this location would be better than the one off Eldorado and Tollway, but it is the same for me. I have both Costco and Sam's, and lately, I see myself going to Sam's more. It doesn't really matter the time of day, but Costco is always busy. Sometimes, I really just need to get in and get out, and I really never can at Costco. Sam's? I don't think I have ever been stuck in line. EVER. Their app that allows you to pay without lines is apparently light years ahead of Costco. Just strange to me. This location also doesn't have the same items as the other location I mentioned above. I guess I can understand because of the area, but something like frozen vegetables, I would assume it would be in pretty much all locations. I do think Costco has better quality items like non-food items. However, I am usually at Costco for food items haha. Overall, I still will go to Costco (and shop online). However, I do prefer Sam's over Costco. read more

The quick checkout area for this Costco have the absolute worst Customer service reps. Almost all other CSR agents at other Costco will go the extra mile to use the electronic guns to help you check out faster but these CSR will ignore you or they'll make you feel like you're bothering them if you ask them to scan a few more items. Had a bad back one day with a few other objects a few times and they won't help, they'd rather gather to chat. Managers needs to pep talk these CSRs. read more

As a longtime member of both Sam's and Costco, for my personal preferences of product purchase, I prefer Costco, having a slightly higher quality of items than Sam's. HOWEVER, I hate the way that Costco has changed its attitudes towards its members. They used to be so friendly and smile, asking "How are you?" Now it appears that corporate tells their floor employees to not engage, to be more efficient, to herd cattle out of the store ASAP. I hate that it has turned into a cult culture like the old Starbucks culture and the new Chick-fil-a culture (I have eaten at different Chick-fil-a locations and still don't know why America swarms to their products). Even over 100 people waiting to get into a location at opening time. But yesterday filled me with disgust to a breaking point, finding a live, giant cockroach in the men's restroom, not far from the food court. Having opened 33 restaurants over a 35 year career in the hospitality industry, working with multiple county health departments and pest control companies, when you see one roach, expect there to be many, many more. I showed one (what I thought was a) manager this picture and was told "Thanks. we'll take care of that." and he zoomed off. Again, corporate attitude to define a problem and not address the consumer concern. People deserve to be treated better. read more

The demographics have rapidly changed in this Costco in the last 2-3 years. This store used to be elegant with considerate and polite shoppers. Now the Frisco culture has polluted this venue, and you'd start seeing folks leaving shopping carts everywhere in the parking lot, random unwanted merchandises everywhere in the store, clothing and apparel section that looks like a pig sty despite incessant effort of staff to re-fold and tidy up, and people cutting in lines to get samples. The tire center really sucks. I bought new TPMS sensors from them and they couldn't program it and left me hanging and tried to blame it on my van's OBD II system. This is totally unprofessional, irresponsible and incompetent. I had to waste time and make a separate trip to discount tires on 380 and get it fixed. The manager over there just spent a few minutes to reset the TPMS sensors and fixed the problem. I love me some Costco and this one is no exception. Brand new at the time of this review, it's super clean and fully stocked with all the goodies you'd expect. I've started to get my glasses here, so that's been a new experience for me. The people working here have been very nice and helpful. The lines can get long, but be patient and you will be able to pay for your 40 pound jar of mayonnaise. It hasn't been too crowded during weekdays, as you might expect. I would be here more often if it wasn't for my wife. My wife has limited our Costco outings because I will always buy something to eat. This particular costco make a great pizza slice, turkey/provolone, and hot dog. I love how this particular costco is always switching up their available merchandise and store layout. This costco is good about always having nice brand clothing for everyone. I appreciate their selection of 32 degree clothing, bathroom towels, and soft bedroom linens. My go to merchandise is the Costco brand bar soaps, laundry detergent, and bin of folgers coffee. To conclude, this place is great. I understand that everyone has to wear a mask, however, their door person (female) was completely out of line with handling the mask situation with my three year old. She literally chased me while my kid was in the cart, I stopped and she chunked, literally chunked a mask in my three year old's face and said "wear it." I said, "Hey, you can speak to me, I am the parent, not my child." She then responded "Don't care, he wears it or get out," and proceeded to walk off. I do love Costco, this is a pretty good location all things considered. Like most of them they get busy on the weekend but not nearly as crazy as other ones I've seen in DFW or other states. With that said there seems to always be plenty of parking, the staff is friendly. I would try to avoid peak hours and really the weekend when possible but that is true with just about anywhere. I'm in my 30's single but have been going to Costco when it was PriceCostco as a little kid back in the 90s. I can't imagine not having a membership. Also the Gas lines here are fairly reasonable even with current higher gas prices compared to other locations. read more

The tire center here is a joke. I called multiple times on a Friday to order new run flat tires for my car. I should have known there was a problem then, but they were the closest to me. Upon my arrival, I waited over 2 hours for them to determine if they could repair my tire or not. I was informed they couldn't so I placed an order for 4 new tires and was told they should be there Saturday and if not, definitely by Monday. I reached out Saturday, but couldn't get a hold of anyone after multiple calls. I had to call a manager to go over there and relay a message. I finally got a message back saying my tires hadn't arrived. No problem. I call Monday, same issue, have to call a manager to get a hold of them, and I was told that they tires hadn't arrived, but they would call the distributor and get back to me. Crickets, Nada, Zilch. So rinse and repeat Tuesday, call a manager, get someone on the phone, tires didn't arrive, will call you back. I finally get a call back saying my order was canceled because they don't have my tires in stock. WTF!?!?!? If you had the decency to call me Saturday or look into the issue on Monday I could have made arrangements elsewhere. So now I'm stuck, scared to drive on the run flats and stuck at home because nobody bothered to do their job. Costco tire center used to be great, I don't know what happened, but I will never use them again. read more

These member only warehouses were never my thing but then I learned how to shop. In the beginning I thought they wouldn't have the brand I used but I was surprised that some of them were there. Truth be told there were brands I never of but on some I took a chance. I'm glad I did, Costco's brand was right there with the brands I was familiar with. Whatever you do, if you buy tires from Costco, do not buy their service plan. It is a joke. First, they do not help you on the weekend, and they request that you wait until the weekdays to balance and rotate your tires. As a working person, who has time for that? Then you call them, and they never answer the phone to schedule your appointment. Then you have to go in and there is no one at the desk to talk to for sometimes up to 30 minutes. Love the fact that Costco came to McKinney! And that we don't have to drive down to Plano or Frisco. As far as the layout it seems about the same to me as other stores. At first it took us some getting used to but is it's natural. My wife loves the clothes section and it's very rare that she doesn't leave with something or kids clothes. The samples are pretty well set up but in my opinion they can be hit or miss. Sometimes they are amazing and sometime they have me wondering who in the world would want that. Customer service is on point with other stores and they pretty much take anything back which is awesome. The gas pumps are always clean and attended and easy to get in and out. Pushy and rude upsell at the membership counter. I go in for a replacement card since my wife had ours with her. Instead of just taking my picture and giving me a card for my existing membership the guy tried to interegate me. He kept pushing the executive membership. He pretty much refused to take my picture for a replacement card unless I told him why I didn't want the executive. He was the rudest person I've ever encountered at a Costco. So rude that I will likely consider cancelation of my card. read more

OMG - bought a Whole Snapper Saturday and was planning to cook it Today - the fish was entirely rotten. We started smelling the fish yesterday but thought it was something else - pulled the fish out today and it was just nasty. The most disgusting foul bad fish EVER! Wanted to take it back today but they close at 6pm - so very sad and I have nothing for Dinner. Very disappointed in Costco. I've never experienced this at any Costco - Texas or California.
