I took my vehicle to get my tires checked because my tire pressure sensor light was on. I wanted to make sure it was safe to drive with my son in the vehicle. The tire shop employees inspected my tires and informed me that two of my tire sensors needed to be replace but it was safe to drive so I told them I would come in another day. When I got to my vehicle I noticed big scratches and dirty hand prints across my entire hood that were not there before I brought it in. I filled out a incident report before I left the Costco and they called me the next afternoon, saying that they check the footage and didn't see anyone touching my vehicle, but they also said they could not show me the footage that I would have to file a claim with my insurance before they can show the footage which doesn't make sense because it's not something that I did wash my vehicle by hand right before my tire pressure light came on and brought it there. this isn't right I've been a longtime customer for years and never had a horrible customer service experience as this I did not expect it.I Just want them to repair the scratches that happened at their shop. read more

Update: I changed my rating to 4 stars from 2 because Costco did finally reimburse me for the rim damage. Not the best service experience but in the end Costco made it right. They assured me the technicians will be reminded to use the correct equipment on expensive alloy wheels. This review is for the Costco Tire Center on Hesperian Blvd, Hayward. I took my 2015 Mercedes C300 for new tires. Upon picking up my vehicle that evening I noticed two of the rims were damaged from the tire machine rubbing on them. I called Costco the following day to complain and spoke with the tire shop manager. He said he would file a claim so I sent him photos of the damage. That was on 4/25/23. The damage to my two wheels was $200. The cost to repair the rim scratches from the tire machine costs $100 per wheel. If you do plan on taking your vehicle for new tires then do yourself a favor and take photos of each wheel before they start the work and then inspect each wheel before you leave the parking lot. Every time I go it is organized, items priced fairly and usually stocked. All associates are professional and helpful. Otherwise, you can be impatient and drive around this constant busy parking lot and waste time looking for a parking spot that's closer to become available. Also, if you see a cart in the parking lot-grab that one and use it. The cart collector worker will thank you for doing this... Like many other Costco locations, this one is quite busy. There isn't a day where there's no wait more than 10 minutes at the registers so if you're in a hurry or need to run many errands, don't come to Costco. Compared to other locations, this location is actually organized. I don't notice to many random things throughout the store in the wrong place. The meat section always has great selection, with decent pricing. I've noticed that the rotisserie chickens are this location are mostly more well-done than other locations. I am a member of Costco from 2001 and I have started using Hayward Costco pharmacy from last couple years. My medicines were overdue, and I called the pharmacist, and she said they had been faxed to my doctor. My doctor said he had not received it. I called Costco again, and a rude and arrogant male picked up the phone. When I asked him where the glitch was, he was rude and said he can help and I need to figure out what to do with it. I prefer to frequent at this costco versus the San Leandro site. More parking and the workers seem happier. It just seems better stocked and there is always the items I am looking for. I've been lucky and always been there when they were stocked on toilet paper and water. Since this pandemic started, they have been proactive with the barriers at every register. Signage on the floors. Food court has a member working the fountain drinks. And sanitizer pumps are available. I've frequented Costco's from SJ to Livermore, but mostly Fremont and Hayward. This location has always been my favorite for a few different reasons - it's a more recently built warehouse and the parking lot has been well designed, the flow of traffic in and out is good. It's always organized well and I've never seen messes in the aisles. The staff is always friendly and they keep the lines moving quickly. They also have a self-checkout area now, which has people ready to help you if one of the machines requires service member assistance. COVID-19 update: I am not sure why I never wrote a review for this Costco, but the recent events revolving around the Coronavirus, have prompted me to do so now. I've been volunteering my spare time and that has involved many runs to the grocery store and Costco. Currently their self-checkout system will only allow for in-demand items, like water, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning wipes, rice, dog food, etc. and I've been adhering to this request from the public, even though 99% of my store runs are for these items and for the elderly. During this time, I've seen many people complain loudly and behave incredulously in this store and I have been completely impressed with how calmly I've witnessed their staff and management handling these customers. In addition, they've used excess shopping carts to create a well-defined flow of traffic in and out of the store, making it easier to maintain the 6ft. distance between individuals. There has also been an employee with a megaphone standing on the pillar outside, reinforcing the distance request. I feel even the employee with the megaphone is being mindful that they're not aiming it at people's heads, but above them, so there's no aggravation and they can be heard clearly. Throughout the store there are reminders to stay distant from each other and items are still easily found. In these times so full of anxiety, I can really appreciate their attention to detail, their concern for public health & safety and the calm attitudes of their employees. read more

Just had the absolute worst experience with a manager here @ the Hayward location I went out the way to Hayward Costco to buy a sofa and hired some third party movers. The employee I spoke to said the item cost to me and I was prepared to buy it. At the cashier I waited to ring out and then I'm told the actual price is not correct. He calls his manager over and clearly the tag is shown and placed incorrectly. The manager tells me I'm SOL "out of luck" and that people move pricing all the time when another employee told me the pricing as I stood there an hour earlier. I got two angry third party movers outside who are not happy. Now I feel terrible for the movers who came and aren't paid for their time and I still don't have a couch. All that has happened is a huge waste of my time and energy. Disgusting way to treat your customer. I've been working retail and management for over 8 years. If it wasn't for the good pricing I would easily refund my membership but I still find it disturbing how I was spoken to like that. We come to this Costco all the time, so no matter the experience we'll still come. That doesn't mean that employees/cashiers can be extremely rude to customers. Our most recent trip to Costco ended in a cashier throwing my card at me/card machine when I told her I needed my card to pay for my items. It was extremely rude of her to do that! My bf just starred at her when she did that and she didn't even apologize. There's always something cool to find at any Costco! Things move all the time and I guess that's their trick to get us to explore the store so we can add more stuff to the cart LOL let me tell you that it works 'cause we always overspend when in Costco haha Also, who doesn't love food samples?! This review is mostly for the membership services department. They all seem super rude, lazy and on edge (minus the helpful manager). I understand there is a pandemic and they are probably overworked, but I'm also working through a pandemic and in contact with many people, and working overtime and I am still pleasant. It doesn't hurt to be nice to people getting a refund that they are entitled to. I always approach people working in customer service with much grace and appreciation, and I expect the same back, especially if that is their line of work. I hate the be the disgruntled customer, but today was not the day. I was very patient and nice throughout the process and I went through 3 different people who all seemed confused and annoyed that they had to give me a refund. I don't know why I have a membership, I only go there twice a year or so for party purchases. I love Costco's inventory, concept and products, but the employees there always seem to be lacking. We had the delivery original schedule for Thursday, July 18th. The day before I got an email that due to scheduling issues Costco needs to reschedule our delivery. My husband called to make another appointment and he was informed that we were never scheduled in the 1st place. Funny, we have an email confirmation that states otherwise. Regardless my husband set up another appointment for Monday, July 22nd. The delivery person showed up and stated that they cannot install because we need to provide 6' everything. I informed him that I read all the delivery instruction. There is nothing that states this. He left without installing. Now I'm going over a week without being able to do laundry. Third attempted to get this washer and dryer installed. My husband spoke to several people. Every Costco employee we spoke to agreed that there is nothing in writing regarding a customer providing 6' anything to install a washer and dryer. My husband was informed that if we purchase beforehand and make yet another appointment, they will reimbues us after the installation is complete. When asked what Costco could do to make this better besides paying us back for buying the non-disclosed 6' everything. We told them to make sure their delivery team has everything for the installation. Did they do that. No, of course not. Final attempt of install after we pre-purchased everything 6'. The delivery person did not have the proper equipment to attach the dry vent tube. If it was not for the fact that we had some from another project they would not have been able to complete the installation. We got only the amount we had a receipt for and $50.00 for a failed delivery fee. The failed delivery was solely on Costco not us the customer. We have purchased a washer and dryer from Home Depot before and their team had everything they needed to install the washer and dryer. I thought by going to Costco I would save $40.00 over the cost at Home Depot. Instead, I got nothing but poor customer service and just over two weeks of no clean clothes. I personally do not think the refund we received is nearly enough for all the things we had to provide to Costco's delivery/install team. Not to mention the waste of our time going to a hardware store making sure Costco had everything they needed, which they should have provided. For us to provide everything 6' cost us $150.00 on top of our time, gas, wear and tear on our personal vehicle. Only to find out that yet again poor communication. Costco's delivery/install team only used two 6' items. Yet again a waist of our time, gas, ware and ear on our personal vehicle going back to the hardware store to return unused items. The only reason they got a 2 star is that we finally have the washer and dryer installed. However, they did not wipe their fingerprints off the washer and dryer lids before leaving. Never again is that so called $40.00 saving worth our time, gas, ware, and tear on our personal vehicle. I hope no one else must endure the poor customer service we did. Stock proper equipment for every delivery/install. This includes any possible situations. When Costco requested a review from us, their system would not let us provide a full review. The day before Thanksgiving - a rough shopping day but things went well here today and one can reliably get items that sell out in lesser stores. Pumpkin pie was in good supply in the afternoon and really tastes as good as deluxe ones that cost 3 times as much from high end bakeries. Costco does so many things well but I never look forward to going to this place. Its a chore and I typically don't like places or things that are overly popular with mass market appeal. So many crowds and people so close together - I don't like it. Lines at the register are intimidating at first but the move quickly. Thankfully there aren't so many coupons and price gimmics that slow down the line to a snails pace at Safeway, for example. If I have to come here I like to hide out in the food court while enjoying a delicious blackberry sundae while others run around doing the dirty work of pushing a heavy shopping cart around battling the crowds. The new durian ice cream is awesome! It's so rich and creamy, and exactly like the real fresh durians. Durian lovers will definitely be crazy about it. The tomahawk steak is also fantastic. This Costco is a little bit less crowded than other locations. But one of the customer service staff is always not being nice. Especially when you return something, she always asks a lot of questions and shows an unsatisfied and judging attitude. I have been working long hours and usually send my 24 year old daughter to shop for me. She went to the self check out. The self check out short staff guy to asks if she needed help, she said no but he continues to scan the costco card and tells her I needed to be present. I honestly never had this issue before. She leaves. Once I got off work I go back with her just before they close, he notices my daughter just for that short guy to radio his short boss. 7/2/23 we bought a hard drive, stood in front of the door with the receipt, tried to pick up the item. No one around the door. Some employees came towards the computer next to the door, I gave my receipt to them. They said they were not the employee I need, they could not go inside the room pick up my item. This Costco is 2 miles from my home. Been coming here for years now. The past couple of months I come here with my small Maltese without a problem. Couple of times I see other dogs inside as well. Totally nightmare at Costco tire station. I'm a senior citizen took my rav4 for a flat tire repair I was told by a tire service representative I should have a appointment. Now this is a non-emergency situation however, I cannot drive in a flat tire. They should understand so I asked them to repair any ways. My wait time for 1 tire repair approximately was 3 hrs...from 9am till 4:30pm I was waiting for a flat tire repair. This is how Costco deal with customers. Costco has good and bad days. Weekdays tend to be much less stressful and less anxiety. No joke. During weekends its like a free for all and overly crowded. I suggest to never park near the entrance. People tend to wait and not move until they get that one spot near the front. Seriously though, its nice to walk... Not to mention the staff at the entrance are very rude. I haven't been to a Costco that demands to see your membership card and won't let you step inside till you do. They literally yell at you. Once you get in, like any Costco, there are so many things to look at. I felt like if it wasn't for the bulk price and good deals here and there, I wouldn't go here because of the amount of people that shops here (esp on weekends) and the staff aren't particularly helpful or nice. Our mom had recently got sick so she gave us her membership card to do her grocery shopping which is nothing out of the ordinary as we've always done stuff like this. A rude employee didn't catch her name but she had red hair and was Latina gave us attitude for walking in the other way as my brother and I got food. I used to shop at this Costco at least twice a week a few years ago when I lived in the East Bay. This Costco has changed a lot since they first opened (way busier now). Now, they are always crowded and it's harder to find parking whenever I come here. Occasionally, I will fill up my gas tank or buy a few items if I'm in this area. Whenever I put gas here, it never fails to hear someone beeping their horn or yelling at someone. Seriously, chill people. It's not that serious to wait another 20 seconds for the person to drive up to the next pump. Also, this is the first Costco that I've seen that has a self check out in the food court. I wonder if this concept will expand to the Danville, Livermore, or Maui stores. Let's just say that this concept would thrive on Maui. Lol.
