I'll share the positives. The hand made tortillas were amazing and I could taste the freshness in each bite. The rice was fluffy and flavorful and the refried beans were fine. The chicken was grilled perfectly and I enjoyed the balance of spices. This style of burritos was slightly baking the burrito with sauce on top and cheese and adding pico and lettuce. I'm not sure if this is Cali style. I enjoy it. I'll share what I didn't like. I asked for a red sauce on top of my burrito expecting a chipotle sauce as it looked thick. The sauce tasted nothing like what the chipotle name sounded like. It had a strange Trader Joe's Asian Szechuan taste to it. The sauce was pretty diluted and gross tasting and overly sweet. I took the sauce off and the chalula hot sauce tasted way better. I also tasted the sweet pork as a sample and it tasted like candy. I'm not sure on whether the sweetness level was supposed to be so sugary but it was pretty off putting. It wasn't balanced like bbq or a Thai noodle. It was sweet like peanut sauce or fondue. Not the best tasting. I'm still giving this place 4 stars. I'm not sure if it's local or not. The staff were all really nice and I appreciated the service. .27 cents or so for a handmade tortilla is so cheap. I'll return. read more

While at a convention nearby, I had just a few minutes between sessions and needed something quick. Costa Vida to the rescue! I was in and out in less than twenty minutes-including time to order and eat my chicken salad. The folks working behind the counter were friendly and quick. Everything was made fresh and just how I ordered it. read more

Costa Vida - the inside of a restaurant with tables and chairs - Mexican Near Me - Boise, Idaho

The location and flavor of the food is good. I was alarmed that they wanted to charge $1 for sour cream, cheese, corn salsa or anything outside of the general bowl that only includes: protein, rice, beans, salsa and tortilla strips. When did the add on selections get a minimum of $1.00 on it? Even guac or cheese was $2.00. Two minimal bowls for lunch and no drink was still about $30.00. Ridiculous. Chipotle doesn't do this. Prices are already high and the ripoff continues. read more

Great food with really quick and friendly service. They always do a fantastic job. Never had any issues at this location

Food was good but unfortunately I paid a dollar for extra guac and this is what they gave me and I shouldn't be paying a dollar for a sample cup. read more

Costa Vida - " Extra guac" - Mexican Near Me - Boise, Idaho

I had a coupon for a 6 dollar sweet port salad but because I did half chicken and half sweet pork, they wouldn't honor my coupon even though it's the exact same price. The manager claimed it was the corporate policy. Clearly, they don't understand customer service or even being willing to honor it this time but tell you for next time. Would not recommend. Poor customer service. read more

I eat at the Boise Main location at least once a week. It is the best location that I have been to as the staff is always friendly and quick (I go for lunch). read more

So bad. Today's special was grilled chicken burrito. The medium hot green sauce was sugary!!! sweet, so odd. Everything else was bland. The grilled chicken seems very processed. A micro dot of guac was extra $, it got in the sugar sauce and I couldn't eat it. My husband got the same with red hot sauce. Not sweet at least, but certainly not spicy at all. I would never go back. Even Taco Bell might be better, Chipotle, way better. read more

Costa shida is straight ass the portions I got were literally for a toddler and it's no cheaper than any other place. 3 star if the meat portions were correlated better to price read more

Despite their restaurant being closed due to COVID19 they were fast to have my online order ready in about 10 minutes. I wasn't sure where their register counter window was to pick it up but the employees were friendly and had my order ready. I usually get one of their salads and it always tastes amazing! read more

My friend and I stopped here for a snack and I was thinking two tacos... No problem. These things were filling and full of flavor. There were multiple salsas and the orange was the best as in spiciest. Definitely a must stop in Boise. read more

Super delicious for very fair price. If you come often enough, you earn points for discounts. My favorite is Raspberry Chicken anything; best as burrito. It's like a meal and dessert in one. Grilled steak nachos are the bomb. Get extra meat and cheese if you're sharing. It's only $2.49 more and will fill up 2, maybe 3, people. Can't forget the mandarin Jarritos drink. It's great with everything. read more

I ordered a chicken salad and it was inedible. I never write reviews but I felt inclined to warn people from wasting their money and time. The chicken was so dry that I couldn't even eat it. I asked for guacamole which was extra money and it was a dollop size. I had one bite and had to throw the $10 salad straight in the trash. Absolutely terrible. My children all some iteration of chicken in their meals and it was the same. Charred and dry and disgusting! read more

They have great food and very friendly staff. The food portions are massive! I love how they smother their burrito's in sauce and cheese. I also got guac with my grilled chicken burrito which made it taste even better. The place is nice and reminds me of a Moe's. Good luck with parking since it's downtown. read more

Food was AMAZING! Had the sweet pork and chicken enchiladas and the meat was flavorful and juicy, had lots of cheese and sauce. Beans and rice tasted great as well. Will definitely order from here again! read more

I have to tell you, Costa Vida is light years better than the new Cafe Rio on Broadway. I can't believe that's the truth. But it totally is. Thank you, Costa Vida, for making my sweet pork salad as good as it's supposed to be. read more

They got 5 stars for the food but I would've given them 5 more for the fresh tortillas! No one else has fresh tortillas... If you think Chipotle or Moe's are good options, this place will change your mind. Portions are very generous. The small chicken salad I ordered was filling. The burritos looked giant! Pico and guac are visibly fresh. I hope to visit again before I head back to Cleveland. read more

Ordered lunch online for pickup as my office is only a few blocks away. Arrived to find that my order hadn't yet been started. The cashier warmly greeted me and confirmed my name and my meal, then instructed the cook to rush the order. I was very appreciative and she added an extra burrito free of charge for the wait. For $10 I got lunch and dinner Super fresh food, great customer service, I forgot how much I love this place. Will definitely be back. Amazing! read more

I'm so impressed with the 2 young men who helped me, they exceeded expectations on every level. I came on 20 before they closed, like an ass I know, anyways they were smiling & happy to see me. Sloppy food and way to overpriced. You can find better Mexican food in blackfoot at such a lower price.

My favorite go to lunch spot. Costa vida is centrally located downtown, fast, and costumizible. Almost any one with a diet restriction can eat here and make a few modifications to suit their needs. The staff is always friendly, and I don't feel guilty indulging a little bit. Its also inexpensive for eating downtown. You can definitely make it expensive, bit the menu is very clear about extra charges. I try and stay away from carb heavy foods so I usually go with the small chicken salad without rice, beans, or tortillas but all the toppings. I usually struggle to finish the last few bites because it is so big but always finish because it is sooooo good! read more

I'm a sucker for this place and make a point of getting here every time I'm in Boise. If you're downtown or on Eagle and want something a little different, go here. The sweet pork is good on anything, but can be a bit too sweet for some. If you're looking for something more savory, try the shredded beef burrito with mild sauce. It's a filling meal and actually comes in at around 750 calories if you don't get it smothered (covered in cheese and sauce; you'll want to try a smothered burrito at least once). The chicken salad is also a favorite of mine, meaning I often come here twice in a week. Service is good and the workers are friendly. If you come closer to noon, expect a few minutes to get through the line, but nothing too serious. There's usually plenty of room to sit and enjoy your meal. Final note: they have horchata, Jarritos, and flan if you're looking to satisfy a sweet tooth. All in all, one of my favorite places for lunch, as you get a filling meal for a decent price with great service. read more

I wish I had this restaurant back on the east coast because the food here is refreshing. It reminds me of Chipotle or Mexican Subway because of the way you order. The ingredients were fresh, flavorful and a nice change of pace from your run of the mill burger joints. There are so many great selections to choose from like burritos, tacos, nachos, salads, quesadillas, and enchiladas. I prefer the chicken burrito drenched in the roasted green chile sauce. If you want a great meal, this is your place. read more

Very tasty food and good amount of choice on menu. Quick service. Very friendly staff. I had the chicken Baja bowl and it was great.

I ate at Costa Vida with friends on our lunch break. We were able to order and eat with plenty of time to get back to the office. As a rule I am not fond of cafeteria style ordering, but I found it amazing to see all of the ingredients and to watch my chile verde nachos being constructed. When you visit Costa Vida, be sure to take advantage of the underground parking. As I said my coworkers and I were able to get parked, get upstairs to the restaurant, order and eat within that free hour of parking. I sampled the sweet pork, and it is quite tasty, but for me, sweet meats do not belong in any kind of Mexican foods. read more

I would love to give them more stars but I feel like there are too many little things that I have to deal with for me to quite go there. I've been here a number of times, alone and with friends, most often on a lunch break but also with the family in the evening. At the order area they move so fast they don't really give you a chance to add items (we love to add the sauteed veggies to everything) or ask questions. You have to speak up very fast right from the start to get anything extra/customized. If you order a salad, know ahead of time if you want a tortilla on the bottom. Often I order a salad to avoid the carbs so I get the salad with no tortilla, rice or beans. However, if you do get it head's up that it's nothing but a soggy mass at the bottom from the second you get the salad, and to me it is very unappetizing. Served on the side rolled up would be lovely and I'll have to try asking for that next time. I do like that they have a small and a regular size (which is quite large and would be VERY filling if you got all the carbs on it). I always add the sauteed veggies because otherwise it is a bit light on anything but salad greens. The dressings are all pretty good, and I tend towards adding enough pico that I only need a small bit of actual dressing really. The grilled chicken and the steak (only meats I've gotten) are both excellent. The burritos are large and really only able (for us) to be eaten with knife and fork so don't plan on walking and eating :) We've never tried them smothered but it looks tasty. I like Costa Vida better than Chipotle in terms of the taste of the food, but you have to play with stuff a bit to find what works for you and then know exactly what you want and order it fast! :) read more

Dang good! Piled on the toppings till I said enough. Even the meat. One entre Feeds two easy. Yum

Favorite place to eat! Everything is so fresh tasting and leaves you feeling satisfied afterwards. Not too bad if you are trying to eat healthy too since their salads are bomb.com! Highly recommend going here if you haven't already! read more

Came in when they first opened, ordered a steak salad. Lettuce was brown and wilted, steak was bottom of the pan and swimming in grease. Quest was cold, tortilla was definitely not fresh. My girlfriend had a salad too but vegetarian and it was same. They're supposed to be all about fresh, it was anything but! Never eating here again! Trying to get a refund (I took 1 bite), and you would've thought I asked them to do calculus! Really poor management/ownership! Stay away! It's a food poisoning waiting to happen! Gross! read more

I used to drag my husband to Costa Vida any time we were in Utah, and was so excited when one opened here. We eat there probably once or twice a month. Everything is very fresh and yummy. There are some things on the menu I'd like to try, but I can't stop myself from ordering the sweet pork salad every time I come in... I like that you go through the line and order your food, which is made in front of you. No sitting down and waiting around for a server. Great place to eat if you need to get in and out quickly. read more

Fresh ingredients, big portions, and delicious food. What more can you ask for? Sure, it's a chain. Even so, the chicken is actual chicken breast, not that fake spongy stuff you find at places like Subway, etc etc. Always had an enjoyable meal here, always leave full, and happy. read more
