This place is different than some of the others-- still bringing more than one basket of chips and salsa to the table complimentary! Hubby and I ordered fajitas, steak and chicken, to share-- and it was plenty!! Comes with rice and beans as well as shredded lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. The flavor of the meat and veggies was so good and the rice, which most times is very plain, actually had good flavor! Our friends ordered the Asada Burrito. I didn't actually taste it, but they raved about it! It also was huge-- they shared and still took about 1/4 of it home! Additionally... margaritas! We had a watermelon and a raspberry. Both were amazing, less than $10, and not lacking in tequila-- we walked away with a slight buzz (well, still have it as I'm typing this). Came to Casa Mexico to celebrate some birthdays! Walking into the building that they are located in, I saw that they had set up a couple tables for my party. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The linens they used were bright and fun! The tables totally stood out and looked fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] People were slowly arriving at different times which could be annoying for the server but she handled it like a champ. She got our drinks started while we were waiting for the rest of the party to show up. I got myself a virgin mango margarita with tajin and chammoy. Man that baby was good! It was blended perfectly with the tajin on the rim and chammoy in the glass. I highly recommend. After everyone showed up, we took turns getting our orders taken. My husband is quite the picky eater but our server made sure his fajitas were modified the way he wanted them. I also got fajitas for dinner! Shrimp fajitas. While dinner was being made, we all sat back and enjoyed the fresh chips and dip. The chips came out fresh and warm! The salsa had a nice kick to it. It was warm for me but no matter how hot it got, I couldn't stop. It was so good! The bean dip is my favorite. I ate that whole dish and didn't share any with my husband. Dinner was slowly trickling out and you can hear the fajitas sizzling on the hot plate. It smelled devine! Everything about the fajitas were perfect! The char on the onions and bell peppers are my favorite. The shrimp was tender and seasoned nicely! The tortillas were so warm and soft! The perfect combo was some quac, sour cream the charred veggies and the shrimp in that warm tortilla. Chef's kiss! We wrapped up dinner and the amazing staff came out and sang to my friend and I! We both got a little sweet treat that we got to share with everyone. It was honestly the funniest I have had starting my birthday week! From beginning to the end, everything was fantastic! Service was great but that is the only good point about our experience. The chile relleno was the strangest thing I've ever seen--literally a canned chile wrapped in a thin tough omelette. Who does that??!! Beans tasted burnt with bits of black. Rice greasy and flavorless. Skirt steak burrito was so gross and greasy and chewy. We couldn't eat anything and only got a partial discount. My boyfriend's family suggested Mexican food one night for dinner while we were in town and wanted to go to Casa Mexico. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The set-up of the restaurant is rather unique, as it's in the interior corner of a strip mall where you enter an interior plaza prior to entering the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, I always judge a location by their Enchiladas Verde. However, looking at the menu, I saw the location had Chile Verde, so I opted to try that instead. The location offered a variety of Mexican beverages, like Jarritos in the bottle and some very delicious Horchata. Servers brought out complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans for the table and refilled them often as we were a party of 7. When I tell you, the Chile Verde was ~almost~ as good as my grandma's, I was so happy. I wasn't too hungry when we got to dinner, but I ate every last piece of my Chile Verde. One of the members of our party had a food allergy and had dined at the restaurant before; when we were ordering, our Server remembered them AND their order overall, a great experience and I hope to go back next time I'm in Boise! read more

I have been going here for years. Food has always been good until last night. I don't know if they were getting ready to close (was about 730) or what. Service was great as always. The food took about 5 minutes to come out. I don't know how it could have been so fast. It was like a plate of mush. I couldn't find the enchilada in all the mess. I gave this restaurant a try despite the negative reviews on line. I always like to be my own judge of a place. Well... I've got to admit... they were right. I ordered sopitos to go. The flavor profiles were there. It tasted really good... but... the masa at the bottom of the filling was so dry and arid that it was like eating sand from the desert. Yuck. This ruined the dish for me. I'm thinking either they serve up things WAY past their expiration date OR they use a sub-par company to buy their food from. I went with two friends, and it was our first time eating here. We will be back! My friends ordered the Carne Asada dinner with rice and beans and flour tortillas. They were super impressed with the beef. We all cleaned our plates and they were big plates! I had two shredded beef tacos and enchilada. Their shredded beef was so delicious and the pico de gallo was on point. Susanna was our server and she made our visit very comfortable. They have Coke zero and the ice they use are a little tiny ice balls, which makes your soda taste so much better. With more than an hour before closing the entire waitstaff is in deep cleaning mode with stick vacuums running and aggressive sweeping on and around booths. I took my date to Casa Mexico on 3-10-2024 Ive been going here (beside harbor freight Boise) for 25 years! Never had a issue. I must be on a keto diet due to diabetes so I ordered the chicken burger. Figured Id take the bun off and eat the chicken burger. I asked for it with NO cheese. Low and behold they brought out fried chicken strips that had been burnt to a crisp, seriously hard like jerky and with cheese on it. waitress said to me sorry he added cheese but we wont charge you extra. Holy crap :-( I had ordered a side of salad and thank god I did. I didnt get a knife so I tore the strips into small pieces and added it to my salad. I ended up eating half my meal. Why the $%^&* dont they understand chicken strips from a Burger? Even says it on my receipt Chicken burger. My date ordered the enchilada /taco dinner. She ate maybe 1/4 of the meal. Our friend who had a combination plate with tamale and enchilada also very much enjoyed his dish. However two of us ordered the seafood chili rellenos and they were HUGE! For the most part they were very good but we both commented on (and picked out) a great deal of large, diced, cooked carrots from the middle of our rellenos. First of all, I very much hate cooked carrots...but more than that do not expect to find them in Mexican food. I love, love, love Mexican food and we eat it often. I can honestly say I have never seen cooked carrots in the food before. Had a great lunch experience at Casa Mexico and can't wait to go back! My family and I have dined at this location several times and it is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We came in around 1pm on a Saturday and were quickly greeted and seated. Water glasses, along with a pitcher of water was brought to the table and soon after we had a basket of perfectly warm tortilla chips and some salsa and bean dip to snack on. My husband likes to order off their two combo menu, I chose to have an appetizer quesadilla with carne asada and guacamole on top. Before our meal arrived we were asked if we wanted more chips and salsa, we said yes and they brought out more chips, bean dip and salsa. The salsa is SO good. I was passing through Boise to our way to Yellowstone and after a whole day of driving through California, Arizona and Utah, I was super excited to eat some good food. After reading the reviews, I was excited but as soon as the food came out, I wanted to run back to LA. The food was greasy, full of crème and not flavorful at all. We ordered sangria, it was watered down, no taste at all...had a weird pink color, avoid it as it's not good! For our entrees, we ordered the Pollo en Mole and Camarones a la Diabla (Prawns and mushrooms sautéed in our special hot sauce. Served with rice, beans and sauce). The mole dish did not taste like authentic mole I am used to, the sauce was very runny and felt like it was mixed with water. The shrimp dish was pure awful...it was an insult to my culinary taste. The sauce was just tomato and sour crème, was not hot at all. I ended up picking and eating just the shrimps with some rice and left the dish intact otherwise. On a positive note, the flan was ok and the service was not bad. Maybe I am too used to eating fresh and flavorful Mexican food in LA and SF....this was just bad food. Wow what a surprise! I came in alone tonite as a spur of the moment decision. And was eaten by the host immediately make sure that somebody serve me some chips with salsa and beans. Apparently now you get one serving of chips and a small dish and salsa with a few tablespoons of refried beans. If you would like more they will charge you. I ordered a chimichanga that arrived very quickly. I think I know why, it tastes as though it came out of a box of his drop very briefly into and I don't know because it's not a deep fryer and there's no grease. There is some shredded lettuce on top and a couple tablespoons of some kind of a sauce. Prices are almost double what they were from a couple years ago. Service is gone way downhill, no one has bothered to come and see how my meal is. And it's not busy in here. Server keeps walking by me but everytime I try to get your eyes she looks the other direction. Wow what a change from the last time I was here! Won't be back. I saw one person was complaining because the restaurant didn't have wifi? To me that's contradictory because do you want to eat or surf the web? It's also kind of rude to the wait staff . Anyway great service I had my water before I could ask for it, in fact she came with my water and asked if I wanted anything else to drink. Which to me is an excellent way to greet someone. Then of course you get the chips and salsa, the chips are handmade and excellent! The salsa is great also. I was in the mood for seafood which I know in a Mexican restaurant can be a lil dicey, so I as I always do when in a new restaurant asked for suggestions I had it narrowed down and my waitress expertly went through my choices and helped me to order the Cancoon plate not positive of the name but I think it was close to that. Anyway it was real good a lil fishy tasting but it was still real good and a huge portion , like I said I was by myself so I had to leave quite a bit behind which I hate to do. I am throughly impressed with this restaurant! I LOVE mexican so naturally I've eaten it a lot including authentic mexican food made straight out of the kitchen. We tried it for the first time today (father's day, so I expected it to be busy) but the service from the host was great (we ordered to go). The food is definitely authentic. We loved the queso, the best we've had in a long time! The salsa was great. The tortillas were clearly homemade. The restaurant was super cute.
