Unfortunately, my experience on October 6, 2026, and my subsequent attempts to resolve the matter through corporate customer service have completely changed my opinion of this company. MY EXPERIENCE AT THE DUNEDIN LOCATION On October 6, 2026, at approximately 8:40 AM, I arrived for an oil change after receiving a promotional email directly from Take 5 advertising 25% off an oil change, with a scannable barcode and an expiration date of November 7, 2026. I printed the coupon and brought it with me. The first employee who greeted me was friendly, offered me water, and instructed me to pull forward while another vehicle was being serviced. I appreciated his professionalism. While waiting, I overheard another employee, identified to me as Tristan, discussing his previous evening and drinking within earshot of customers. Personally, I did not consider this appropriate conversation in a professional service environment. When my vehicle was being serviced, I informed Tristan that I maintain my own air filters and windshield wipers and did not need those inspected. Following that exchange, I felt his communication toward me became noticeably less courteous. The main disagreement occurred when I attempted to use my 25% discount. My oil change was approximately $180, making the advertised discount worth approximately $45. Tristan attempted to scan my printed coupon and stated that it wasn't working. I then showed him the original promotional email directly from Take 5 on my phone, but he again stated that the barcode would not scan. I asked whether the coupon numbers could be entered manually or whether someone with the authority to assist could be contacted. Instead, I was offered a $20 discount. When I explained that I wanted to use the 25% promotion I had received, the employee responded, "So you're saying you don't want the $20 off?" I attempted to clarify that I was asking for assistance with the original coupon, not rejecting a discount altogether. In my experience, the conversation became increasingly uncomfortable. I felt repeatedly interrupted, and the employee raised his voice during our disagreement. At that point, I decided not to proceed with the oil change and requested that the service be stopped and my vehicle prepared for departure. What I expected to be a quick oil change resulted in approximately 45 minutes at the location without a completed service. I obtained a printed record of the visit, Transaction #81017, showing that no completed service was performed. I also photographed the condition of my vehicle following the interrupted service, including the engine compartment and visible fingerprints and oil residue on portions of the hood and chrome finish. CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE -- OCTOBER 6, 2026 Following this experience, I contacted Take 5 corporate customer service to report my concerns. At 10:34 AM on October 6, 2026, I received an email from Brian Kim, Customer Service Team Lead, apologizing for my experience. His response included the following statement: "The experience you had is not what we want to exemplify as a company." Brian requested my vehicle's 17-digit VIN so that my complaint could be submitted through the company's reporting and claims process. At 12:08 PM that same day, I provided the requested information, along with photographs and supporting documentation concerning my visit, the employee involved, and the condition of my vehicle. I appreciated the initial response and expected some form of follow-up regarding the review of my complaint. UPDATE -- OCTOBER 15, 2026: STILL NO FOLLOW-UP RESPONSE After providing the requested documentation, I sent three additional follow-up emails: Sunday, October 11, 2026 -- 9:02 AM Tuesday, October 13, 2026 -- 10:31 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2026 -- 9:39 AM As of October 15, 2026, I have not received a response to these follow-up emails or an update regarding the status of my complaint. I cannot speak to what may be occurring internally at Take 5 or why I have not received a response. I can only describe my experience and the communications I have sent and received. From my perspective, this lack of follow-through is particularly disappointing because I promptly provided everything corporate requested and made several attempts to obtain an update. WHY I AM LEAVING ONE STAR My dissatisfaction goes beyond the approximately $45 promotional discount. My concerns are about the overall customer experience, including the unsuccessful attempt to redeem a company-issued coupon, the manner in which my questions were handled, the condition of my vehicle when I left, and the lack of subsequent communication regarding my complaint.
