Maids Head Hotel - Wine Press for breakfast

Maids Head Hotel

Wonderful hotel, I stay every few years and I will keep coming back…read more The crown jewel of this hotel is the Wine Press restaurant which is fantastic. You get your breakfast here which is first rate and the restaurant in the evening serves incredible local, seasonal food. Location is perfect, you can see the cathedral from your window. Everything worth seeing in Norwich is very nearby. Rooms are fine, we only stayed in a basic room because it's all that was available over a busy Easter weekend but had zero complaints. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, no crappy minibar which is a huge plus in my eyes.

We stayed at the Maids Head Hotel on a freezing cold snowy March day, and after parking in their…read morespacious free car park, we were pleased to find a warm welcome from the very helpful and professional receptionist. We had opted for their Historic Norwich package which for £150 per night had included free Thornton's chocolates and a bottle of prosecco on arrival in one of their feature rooms, two free passes to Norwich castle, a £25 allowance per person towards dinner in their beautiful WinePress@Wensum restaurant, and breakfast for two also in the WinePress@Wensum restaurant the next morning. Well I must say, even though I am a right mean bugger I thought the package was good value for such a nice room and such excellent food. Every part of the hotel oozed class, from its pleasant comfortable sitting areas, to its beautiful spacious restaurant, and I would go so far as to say it was the finest hotel I had stayed in for year. The location was excellent, just a stone's throw away from the Cathedral, and a five minute stroll from the city centre with its market and many shops. I honestly could not find a single fault with any aspect of our stay apart from, next time we stay with you, could you do something about cold wintery weather? Free Wi-Fi and parking, excellent staff, superior hotel and restaurant with exceptional food, means the Maids Head Hotel deserves your consideration next time you stay in Norwich. Highly recommended!

I am so glad we chose to stay at this hotel!! Everything was dream from checking in to checking out, the staff couldn't be anymore friendly, the room was spacious, clean and well presented and to top it off the breakfast was lush!! I have to say that I am happy to say that this hotel is great. The staff are wonderfully nice and…read morevery helpful. Rooms are clean, comfortable and offer all the things you would expect from a holiday inn. Few tips for American travelers, bring your European travel plug adapter, they do have a few to loan at the front desk. The rooms offer a good view. Get an odd numbered room and it looks out over the stadium, otherwise the even number rooms are quieter and usually a bit cheaper price if there is a game. Food is good, typical "buffet" style breakfast for a decent price. There are a few places within walking distance to get a bite, most are with 1.5 mile round trip. Free wifi, always important is decent, wouldn't say it's great, but that's why I am sure they offer a pay version as well that I am sure better Spending a week here, half way through and so far, very pleased So week over, heading home. Over all, the hotel was exactly what it was supposed to be for a trip without the family and for work. Was clean, comfortable and enjoyable. the food is safe (always nice) and good. They have a Resturant downstairs provides a range of good food. Lots of stuff within walking distance

The Hotel Belmonte is twinned with the bar and night club Mojo's. The hotel in itself is nice and…read morecomfortable. The rooms are modern yet not clinical (they had accessories which made the room cosy such as the lamp shades and the throw on the bed), the shower room was clean and all the usual tea, coffee facilities were available. The alarm clock was also interesting with an option to have the time projected upon the ceiling and made an array of "relaxing" sounds such as wave and rain - the sort of thing you would find on a meditation CD- which was nice to have on later in the evening to cover up any noise from the nightclub downstairs. The Room also had a TV which had all the usual channels (1-5) even if they did not correspond with the channel they were on i.e. ITV was on 4, channel 4 was on 2 and BBC 2 was on 3 - though this, once you figured it out, was liveable. The location is great as it's a 10 minute walk from both the centre - great for shopping- and the train station. It is also on the biggest club/bar road in Norwich. The only unfortunate thing is that at about 11pm when the nightclub gets going the bass does travel up into the room though you can not hear the words of the music or any other noise such as from the street. However, on a street such as it is on you would be likely to encounter noise from the bar/clubs/restaurants neighbouring. If you intended to go out to any of the clubs this hotel would be ideal and you wouldn't notice the noise. Note: There is quite a lot of stairs to get to the rooms so if you do have difficulty with stairs this may not be suitable for you as there is no other access
