If you thought about getting take out at Costa think again. Our $150.00 dinner was cold and poorly packed , sauce soaked through the bag and when lifted off the floor spilled staining my backseat . When I complained I received a call back from a seemingly expert packer who proceeded to tell me in short that it was impossible. She spoke over me on the phone and I guess by her rude tone she can't spell customer service if I were the owner I would dismiss her immediately. Below are pictures showing an entree with minimal sauce because it leaked out, and a crushed entree lid due to poor packing. I guess she wasn't an expert after all! This place is a "must" if you're looking for perfectly paired, flavorful food in a great atmosphere. I went here with a dinner party of 6, and every dish ordered was outstanding. I started with the Caesar salad, which was excellent. Then I had the pappardelle and diver scallops for my entree. I could've eaten another serving - that's how good it was! The truffle oil was the perfect touch. The dish also wasn't too heavy on pasta, which kept it light and satisfying. It's also in a great location. It's off the boardwalk, which made for a relaxing dinner, but it was close enough to head over to the inlet for drinks after dinner! read more

I was so shocked to see how good the reviews were for this place. While it definitely has the nice coastal vibe to it the food was nothing special. Our waiter was nice enough and def spent the time with us explaining dishes and helping us decide. We kicked the meal off with the burrata and prosciutto app, it was good. He raved about it making it seem like it was going to be like nothing we've ever tasted.. two girls from New York have def been to our fair share of wine bars and Italian restaurants, we've had better. The tomato basil soup was almost inedible. A small cup came with my meal and it was so thick like a sauce and really had no taste, completely unacceptable for a place with such raving reviews. For the meal we ordered scallops francese, it was fine... it came with spinach... the scallops had a nice taste I was just like eh about it though. Also, the penne ala vodka... I kid you not, they used the tomato basil soup and dumped it over penne.. it was not creamy or light in color or like anything we were expecting. I've had better penne ala vodka at the local pizzeria. Give me a break. I was so upset Bc I spent my last night at this restaurant that I thought was gonna be good and it was a waste .. we brought all of our food home for her husband who agreed with us ... The tiramisu for dessert was fine.. I've had better. The waiter mentioned that they changed chefs about two or three months ago, maybe the new chef is afraid of salt and spices and adding cream into vodka sauce or unaware of what ala vodka even tastes like? While I've always enjoyed my meals at Costa (the server Melissa is fabulous), I can't bring myself to order from them again. Their to-go orders are far smaller portions than dine-in, and yet pricing is the same. What's more, I specifically requested a no meat creamy marinara, but was given a vodka sauce with shaved prosciutto. I'm vegetarian and wasn't told this until after a few bites when I noticed a word texture and called to ask. The manager was less than helpful and in fact did not seem to care, she even came off as inconvenienced! It's disappointing because I absolutely love their arugula and fried Gorgonzola salad! What a find! In a land of mundane fried seafood, Costa shines like the evening star. We snagged a table for two on a Saturday evening (early) in a small alcove. Service was prompt and enthusiastic. One server confessed she moved to Costa because of the chef, with whom she had worked elsewhere. Nice recommendation. We shared the panzanella salad to start. My husband said he hadn't found one that good outside of Italy. Fresh ingredients, expertly dressed, served on a curved wood board. Creative. My tuna tartare was superb and beautifully presented. My husband's chicken saltimbocca was divine. Wish I had room to try dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant. Update: we dined here again the following evening and were just as impressed. The burrata special salad advertised wasn't available, our only disappointment. The fennel salad was as superb as the panzanella, hard to choose which we preferred. My husband's diver scallops and my Parmesan-encrusted scallops were incredibly fresh and tasty, but the star may have been the mushroom risotto. OMG-out of this world! We had room for dessert this meal- limoncello marscapone cake (my favorite), which was moist and creamy and a perfect size (not too big). Our first time here for a girl's dinner out, and I have to agree, we probably would not return to Costa given the other choices in the area. Among the positives were the atmosphere, the cozy seating area, and the friendly server. Despite having reservations, we observed that they were at perhaps 1/4 capacity and not busy by any stretch. We started with two appetizers to share, the meatballs (2) and the crab stuffed mushrooms (2). Unfortunately, they were served barely warm, not hot. Our main courses (two ordered salads with seared scallops, one with shrimp) were also lukewarm. The seared scallops were only seared and cooked on one side. The flavor was good, but the meal was lacking as it was not hot and we felt perhaps there was some delay in our orders being plated and sitting before being served. It definitely took away from the experience to have both the appetizers and main courses served at a lukewarm temperature. After the meal, we contemplated advising the manager of our experience and decided to offer our feedback. She did come to our table and thanked us for our feedback and that was that. If the food had been served hot and fresh as it was plated, this would have taken our experience from somewhat disappointing to highly enjoyable. My wife and I are so excited to find an actual fine dining establishment in the myrtle beach area. If anyone has been here, you know what I mean, apropro, chain after chain. But to the point, my wife and I went this past Tuesday. I saw the listing on yelp, 7 reviews only but we figured why not try it, the reviews were very good afterall. We were so pleased we did. Upon entering was a nicely appointed hostess station and bar. Being a Tuesday night around 8 it was fairly empty, but nothing really to worry about, a comfort was it appeared mostly local patrons. We were greeted by Harold, whom we found out later is a partner in the restaurant with the chef, all good things. It's nice to have a vested interest not only in the quality of the kitchen but front of house. For only being open for two months, the restaurant had a nice flow and graceful service. The music in the background was a tad loud and not exactly the kind of music you'd expect in the background, but I nit pick. To pick more, I did not like the paper on the tables, the thick rimmed water glasses and the lack of a candle or some table dressing, but again very picky critique. We were seated and given water and menus by Harold, we were starving and between the specials board (which changes daily) and the menu, we were plagued with indecision. So many good and wonderful sounding options. We started with the calamari (~$12) and decided to hum and haw over the menu a bit more. Ordered a bottle of wine (Chardonnay ~$36). The calamari was offered sauteed or fried, we went with fried. Perfectly seasoned breading, nicely fried and not greasy. It's a true test of quality when you do not need any sauce on calamari (which the marinara it came with was great), and this was just that. Fresh, not rubbery, wonderful. Followed by two Caesar salads (included with entrés). Lovely chilled bowls, fresh parmesean on top and seasoned beautifully. We ordered our salads with anchovies, and were pleased to see they were of the higher quality white anchovy than the typical darker anchovy so commonky placed on Caesars. Finally I ordered the snapper and shrimp scampi with caper sauce and angel hair (~$34), and my wife the wild Alaskan halibut with a demi glaze (veal I hope i remember correctly) and heirloom tomatoes over a bed of spinach (~$35). Absolutely wonderful. The flavors were well balanced and well seasoned. The tomatoes cut the spinach wonderfully, and my capers had the perfect blend of acidity which complimented the snapper and shrimp decadently. Both fishes were perfectly cooked, moist and flaky to the fork. Nicely plaiced, no finger prints or sloppy saucing on the plaice. If I were to nit pick, my angel hair was just so slightly over cooked, but I'm really just listing the one, tiniest thing we could find. After the very quiet (aside from the "oh my god try this" and subtle "wows...") meal, we decided to look at the dessert menu which Harold new off heart. I wanted to get the tiramisu, my wife not a fan of tiramisu preferred the lemencello tart cake. I begrudgingly agreed to forgo the tiramisu and opted to share with my wife the lemencello. Harold stated his favorite dessert was the "tiramisu of course, because I make it myself in house". The wife insisted on the lemencello so that was the order. I was so happy to see him coming out of the kitchen carrying two dessert dishes. He graciously gave me the tiramisu, sure that I would have been missing something special if I had missed it. And he was correct, even my wife, who as I said does not "love" tiramisu herself, thought it special. It was so moist, but not damp, perfectly layered and without that overly coffee/chocolate flavor some places often over compensate with. Cream was perfect, really special. This is a rare find in the area, over populated with touristy chains and fried fish shops. We cannot recommend highly enough this establishment. I hope to return again soon, and look forward to many more meals here. Also, they are open for lunch daily! read more

We were excited to eat here because it was so highly rated. Food was just OK - and you have to walk through an outdoor smoking section to be seated, which was gross. Service was really friendly but painfully slow, and our food came out plate by plate (for a table of 6). It all would have been forgiven if it was good when we got it, but it wasn't. The dishes lacked flavor and execution. Everything needed a lot of salt. Dessert was comped, but wasn't good. The best thing we had was a caprese salad that had huge slices of tomato and mozzarella. The stuffed banana pepper and calamari apps were good, but entrees fell short. Scallops on many dishes were seared nicely, but the sauces in pasta dishes fell flat. The ribeye was nothing special, either. We discussed our disappointment in the car on the ride home. Everyone agreed it wasn't worth the money and nothing about the menu/food would bring them back. Go to Perrone's instead. That was the best meal of our week! read more

This was our 2nd visit to Costa and was just as successful as the first. Our waitress, Stacey was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us with some recommendations, brought everything we asked for promptly and couldn't have been more pleasant! Y'all....three of us got the special Diver Scallops. When our food arrived we were all crestfallen when there, on each of our plates sat 4 scallops. Two were "on the larger size" (but not actually large).....two were medium sized at best. Under that was lobster risotto. The size of that was no more than 1/4 cup. This for almost $40. The most satisfying dining experience I have enjoyed in a long time. The food was absolutely amazing and our waiter was perfect! I recommend the shrimp scampi and my daughter loved the mussels. Great evening at Costa - my first time. I am from NYC and know good Italian food growing up eating and shopping on Arthur Avenue with my mom. A good Irish girl who grew up in the Bronx and learned to cook from her Italian friend's moms. Our server was Melissa and she is the bomb!!! It was my sister's birthday celebration and I wanted to have a special evening of food and drink. We had a little snag with a glass of pinot noir but was rectified and no worries. We started with the special burrata salad and the shrimp olivia. The burrata salad should be a regular - great combination of arugula, pistachios, berry compote and balsamic vinegar. Shrimp Olivia is lovely. Large grilled shrimp, seasoned to perfection with butter, garlic, tomatoes and other ingredients on grilled toastettes. We both went for steamed mussels as our entrees. I did mine without linguine both in white wine broth. Lots of broth so if you like dipping your bread in the broth, you have a lot to work with. Mussels were abundant, fresh and cooked to perfection. Also, I love this place because they have bellini's of which I am a big fan. We didn't have dessert because we were really full, but I saw some cheesecake and cannoli's come out for other tables, they looked like heaven. I will definitely be back again to try some other dishes. You should make a reservation if you are interested in dining on a Saturday night because the place was packed including the bar. read more

Went to Costa for Father's Day, excellent service from Jimmy, who was attentive and personable, an ex-Marine, who is proud of his service and we are thankful for his service.
