Celiac or gluten-free diners, I have three words for you ... GLUTEN FREE BREAD. Yes, you read that right! For a mere $4.00 (at the time of this review), you get a whole loaf of Udi's version of a French bread stick. Nearly everything can be adjusted to become gluten free, even the daily specials. They keep rice flour on hand for breading items, have a GF pasta available, and have many delicious items that are regularly gluten free. (The tomato soup is to die for!) Our server was Lori and she is married to the head chef. They have a son with food allergies, so they totally get it. This is our 2nd time of coming here.. we really enjoy it. I ordered the Saltimbocca with chicken & my husband had a meatball sub, we both had side salads.. I must say blue cheese is not my go to salad dressing, in fact I don't really like it at all, except for here Costa, they make it with Gorgonzola cheese & it's yummy. This was our 5th visit in the last 12 months and Costa continues to impress. Their staples such as appetizers, soups, breads etc. are fresh and delicious. The evening dinner specials are unique, freshly prepared, and outstanding. The service is attentive, friendly, and professional. Costa is probably the best dining experience in the South Strand area, and maybe in all of Myrtle Beach. Probably was of the best new restaurant in Murrells Inlet. It has great ambiance with an outdoor fireplace and seating area for the cooler months and a pretty hip interior bar to hang with friends. The menu and specials had a wide variety and the choice of wines and home brews were also very good. My husband had the diver scallops which were perfectly cooked and I had a veal piccata over linguini which was done perfectly. You don't see many restaurants in SC that can make a decent piccata, but I took a chance and they nailed it! We also had the calamari appetizer which came cooked in a red sauce rather than fried which was a change for SC. The sauce was really good. Dessert we had the chocolate profiteroles which were pretty good but I would have preferred to try the home made tiramisu, but they were sold out. I guess we'll have to try to get there earlier next time. The best was our waiter...Jimmy from Jersey! He was attentive, knowledgeable and so funny~ he was the icing on the cake. read more

Food was so-so, very fattening. They ran out of sun dried risotto and without notifying, they gave me instead another risotto that had meat mixed with that, and I don't eat animals. I wasn't aware of the substitution, and I realized that only after I got home and ate the leftovers the following day. We have been there several times since they opened. Our visits have been mixed for various reasons. We hadn't been there for at least six months until today. We went during the latter part of the afternoon (around 2:00). The food was fantastic. My husband had the Parmesan Encrusted Scallop appetizer. Delicious. He took home one, as we wanted to enjoy the main course. I had the daily Burrata Salad with blueberries and watermelon. A wonderful seasonal touch. I also took home some for later tonight. He had the Shrimp Scampi, which was done to perfection. I had the Beef Tips Pasta with Orecchiette, I loved it and took home my leftovers. I couldn't help it, I couldn't everything but wanted everything. The bonus for our day way our waiter, David. Incredible, attentive, so nice. Nestled in Murrells Inlet, Costa Coastal Kitchen & Bar is a new star on the MB culinary scene. First, cudos to Emily for on-the-spot delivery of a much needed Hendricks and tonic. This Italian restaurant does not disappoint! For appetizers, The expertly prepared Burrata with creamy fresh mozzarella was to die for. The meatballs are succulent and delightful. One word of warning, be hungry or share, or you will be too full to enjoy the entrées afterwards. The fish of the day was Hogsnapper, expertly prepared and placed on a bed of chickpea and creamed corn purée - unusual, creative & delicious! Our second entree was a perfect portion of Veal Saltimbocca - no huge slabs of mediocre meat here - delicate, perfectly sauced and delicious. I almost forgot the excellent self baked bread. Emily shared her personal favorite dip - their light and creamy blue cheese/Gorgonzola salad dressing. Delectable! We absolutely will be back. Enjoy! read more

Might be the best meal I have ever had in my life! Thankfully we shared an appetizer and a salad or we never would have finished our entrees. Living in Charleston we have opportunities to eat at fabulous restaurants. This meal was $200 with a bottle of wine and on Charleston would have been $400. If you are anywhere near this is well worth the visit. We will drive the hour up here to eat again versus going into downtown Charleston and spending twice the money for a lesser meal. read more

Absolutely love this place. Staying in the area for Spring Break, we decided to try Costa based on previous Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. So much so, that we went twice during the one week we stayed in the area. We started with burrata appetizer with prosciutto and arugula as well as the meatballs. Both FANTASTIC. We went with a party of 12 and everyone was more than satisfied with their meals. We all voted Costa as our favorite restaurant on the trip. Everything from the bread they serve to all the courses that follow were delicious. To top it off the service was superb. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. We could not have asked for a better experience (both visits). We can't wait to come back next year! read more

Came here on our anniversary. Made reservations asking for a nice table and we were plopped in the center of the dining room. One of the smaller alcoves would have been nice but, I guess those weren't appropriate for our special night. Waitress had NO personality whatsoever. Smile , just a little, please!! Meatballs we're very good. Pasta Fagiole was without any tomato base. Entrees we're okay but nothing blew us away!! Restaurant is a bit over rated. There is a need for sound reduction baffles or something to eat up the volume of Kyle talking to his tables or a loud group. Music, "Play that Funky Music White Boy" ??? Don't know if that's the normal programming but okay.... Finally as we leave we have to exit and walk through the cigarette smoke of the bartender on the front patio. Amazing food. We got the stuffed banana peppers, shrimp scampi, and crab cakes. The service was top notch and I think at one point the owner even came by to check on things. Found this gem on Yelp while looking for a date night place while on vacation. Away from the Murrells Inlet main drag of bars and restaurants Costa provided a great atmosphere and seems like a place locals love to dine at which is always a positive. We sat just off the bar which was dark. It made it a little difficult to read the menu. Great selection of Italian and seafood dishes to choose from. I don't favor seafood and opted for the Spicy Penne alla Vodka with chicken. I started with a Ceaser salad. It was very lightly dressed and could have used a little more dressing, but it was still good. The chicken pasta dish was delicious. Definitely spicy, but my well made Texas Mule helped cool down my palate. My wife had the diver scallops which she enjoyed. For dessert she had the coconut cake and I opted for the vanilla cake with strawberries. Both were excellent! We will definitely be back to eat at Costa. read more

Went to Costa on Saturday night. I have to say we were impressed. Our server, Chris, was courteous and knowledgeable. Our drinks, apps, salads and entrees arrived perfectly timed and the food was wonderful. We shared the stuffed banana peppers which were spicy and delicious. Our friends shared the seafood salad special which looked fresh and plentiful. They said it was amazing. I had the chicken scarpiello and my husband had the pappardelle with bolognese, both dishes were wonderful and we had to bring some home. We will definitely be back! read more

Great mid-priced Italian restaurant with intimate atmosphere. Dinner for 2 with a drink each, salad (included), and desert. All for $88 plus tip. My wife had the prime fillet mignon tips special @ $28 which was tender and tasty. I had an amazing veal marsala @ $28. Note, I am especially picky about my veal and judge an Italian restaurant by the quality of its veal entrees. Tonight's was the most tender and delicious veal I've had in the last 10 years or more. I think Costa serves the absolute best veal in all of South Carolina! Also, the service by our waiter Jimmy was perfect. He was informative and attentive.
