Really fun outdoor restaurant!! They have indoor and outdoor dining and the outdoor dining overlooks the water with direct views to Sarasota. They have lots menu items that are seafood and not seafood and a nice drink menu. If you're going for dinner or brunch, I would recommend making reservations as they get busy. I had the shrimp & grits, was delicious! A special thank you to our server, Arizona, she made our lunch very extra fun- her service is superb!!

We have been fond of Snow Crabs for many years. We have been meaning to go to the Cortez Kitchen for the Wednesday night special for sometime and we decided to go last night. They have outside and inside seating. The outside area is on the water and you can watch the birds. The place was busy but we found a table (seat yourself). The server came over with the menus and took our order for drinks. We didn't really need a menu as we were there to try the Crabs. Looking at the menu we were made aware that the restaurant offers a nice variety of food. Our order was delivered quickly and we enjoyed every morsel of the crab legs. You will thoroughly enjoy this well kept secret in this quiet fishing village and the amazing crab legs We Highly Recommend the Cortex Kitchen. You will not be dissapointed.

    Snow Crab meal on Wednesday.

Wednesdays are snow crab starting at 3PM. We ordered a 2.5 and 1.5 pound meal. I had two miller lites and my wife had a sweet tea. The finger potatoes were very good. Crab was good. Bill with tip was $95. Great views of a working dock When they say casual they mean it. Fun place with a cool vibe. Lots of locals. Worth a visit.

    Blackened Grouper Sandwich

Get there early unless you want to sit in the hot sun. Blues night when we went & the music was good. Shrimp cocktail was flavorful & very large and tender. Blackened grouper sandwich was excellent. Remuolade was excellent. Would definitely go back.

The atmosphere is great and the oysters were good but the shrimp basket was Seapak shrimp. Disappointing.

The place is a little hole in the wall that gets quite a bit of traffic on the weekends, but we managed to get our food within 15 or so minutes despite the crowd. The food overall was good. Not amazing, not bad, just good. Burgers are easy to do well and hard to do REALLY well, and Skinny's knows this in stride. The burger itself is a fine deal (especially considering tourist prices): $9 for a cheeseburger. However, what put a sour taste in my mouth (metaphorically) was the chicken bites. See that little plate of 5-6 chicken nugget things? Yeah, that was $11. Very tasty, but at $2 a wing, that is truly the ripoff of a century. Overall, Skinny's hits the middle of the road in all aspects: food, ambiance, value. And when other joints are charging an arm and a leg for a decent meal, Skinny's stays true to its roots: a solid burger and fries, a cheap beer, and a full belly for under $20.

We parked down the block and walked over since we were early for our reservation. I love where they seated us (in the corner away from the bar and other tables). I don't think I'd want to sit anywhere else when we go back! Waiter was immediately on it with explaining specials and checked in with us frequently/filled waters. He recommended a Pinot noir based on what I told him I liked and I really enjoyed it. I also showed him a picture from Yelp of what I wanted for dinner and he told me how it would be a little different. I chose that dish and I wasn't disappointed. We literally scraped our plates clean. This was our first night out alone I a long time and I'm so happy we had such a great ambiance and dinner. Husband was confused with his dish (he thought the pesto was going to have pieces of zucchini and squash) instead it was puréed into the sauce with pieces of spinach. He still enjoyed it and said it felt lighter and healthier (not too oily). He also wished for more bread. Thanks for taking care of us Coasties! I had the linguine with vodka sauce and added blackened chicken. The chicken was extremely dry and I was unable to finish it. The serving size of pasta I also found to be small especially for quite a high price point. The price point of the entire menu I think is also much too high for what you are getting. The edamame gyoza were only 4 in one dish and we also shared the hummus board which was very small for an expensive price. I think they should definitely be re-evaluating how their menu is priced for their portions and the meals themselves.

The marina setting is such a vibe, with dockside picnic tables, a tiki bar, and a small indoor space with a bar and a few tables. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the food. Everything tasted incredibly fresh the menu says "caught and served same day," and it absolutely lives up to that promise. The blackened fish tacos were a standout and some of the best we've had. The Caesar salad dressing is made In house and is absolutely delicious! We added the blackened mahi and it was filling and delicious. I have mastered a homemade recipe and I'm hard to impress when it comes to Caesar . (We ordered it extra saucy) The only thing we didn't love was the grouper spread, but that was more of a personal preference--it leaned more toward a tuna fish style spread rather than the creamier version we were expecting. The service was great too, the waiters are obviously kept super busy in a spot like that but still managed to get the job done with a smile! Overall, this was easily some of the best food we've had in Florida in the 10 years we've been coming here for spring break. We'll definitely be adding this spot to our yearly rotation.

They both stated that the restaurant has other options for non-fish people. We arrived at the restaurant at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The restaurant was extremely busy, with very limited parking. An employee directed me to park in the "Bridge Tenders" parking space saying everything would be good. We had a 30 minute wait for a table. The bar menu is strictly beer and wine. The waitress was rushed and did not offer any specials or recommendations to the table. I ordered the grilled chicken. When it arrived, it looked like a photo from a fine dining restaurant for being plated on a paper plate served with plastic utensils. The chicken was devoid of any taste. No seasoning. (Not even salt and pepper.) The coleslaw was not good - marginal at best. The tap beer was cold but it was served in a small beer mug for $6. I'm guessing it was an 8 oz serving. The bill was $100 for the four of us. (Two people shared a salad). In summary, I think you can do better. I'd drive by.
