Way better than than previous pharmacies we've used. This store gets a bad rap because of all the homeless looting the store - emptying its shelves. It's a daily battle, they've tried security at the doors, but for whatever reason they don't have it anymore. They should permanently close off the door on Kettner and create a booze only counter with the liquor behind it, not accessible to the customer unless they are buying it at the booze counter.

It appeared that the wide variety of selection was set for libations rather than other items in the store. For the footprint of the store it seems that there just wasn't enough room in house to accommodate that. Like I said, because the libations took up a solid two aisles. That meant that the rest of the aisles were left to have items fight for counter space. Unfortunately on both of my visits here I did not find what I needed and had to venture elsewhere to get those items. Customer service wasn't too bad here, they were attentive to the needs of those in the store, but at some points they appeared to be bothered to help you at first. It is what it is. I view this more as a community convenience store than a Rite Aid. I suppose if you live in the neighborhood it is better than trekking to wherever to get a quick item.

Finally found my item and went to find my friends before I went to pay and ended up finding a few snacks for the impending road trip we had ahead of us. Then we made our way to the register area. The register area was just as big of a mess as the rest of the store, but it somehow worked and flowed so much better than expected. Customers were in and out fairly quickly. Probably had something to do with a majority of them being self checkout, but whatever, the introvert in me liked that.

I came here several times in order to buy supplies, and prescriptions from the pharmacy. One challenge of this location is fairly large number of homeless nearby. That has resulted in theft from this store. This CVS now has continuous armed guard at the door keeping this establishment safe. I have witnessed first hand experience of shop lifting attempts while guards have actively prevented it from taking place. As not much can be done to prevent present societal conditions, alert management does make a difference...

The grey spotless wall, the great spotless floor, the big counter, nice and hight to keep the riffraff at bay. Now the pharmacy situation got more and more dispensed that I went to Hillcrest pharmacy and didn't recognize one person working there. I'm so glad that the best, most knowledgeable, and friendly pharmacist , Ivy Rooney went and started her own pharmacy called simply, "Ivy Pharmacy" on 4th Ave downstairs from Martinis Cocktail bar and directly across the street from the entrance to Club San Diego. It's fabulous.
