I'm stunned to see such a low rating here! I called AAA today because my car wouldn't start and I thought I needed a tow. I got a text from AAA right away saying it would be an hour, then immediately after I got a phone call from Earl, telling me they'd be there in 20 minutes. And they were! Not only that, although I was sure my problem wasn't the battery, they used their miracle jumper cables and actually got my car started! I was so overjoyed I forgot to ask the driver his name. Disgusting employees with their horrible attitudes. Went to go pick up my car the same day it was towed and was met by an angry employee yelling at me and my grandpa that we shouldn't be in that area HOWEVER there are no signs whatsoever that say do not enter, employees only, or restricted access. The employee then began to say things like "it's common sense" not if you don't have any signs anywhere that state to not enter. The guy continued to belittle my grandpa and I by just continuing to argue and be extremely hostile. The city will be notified of the no signage issue. read more

If you need a emergency tow this is not the company to goto not only did they take 4 hours to get here but once they arrived the driver seemed to be under the influence and was very rough with my car I had to repeat several times to be careful but not only did he not care he scratched my bumper and said it was already there. I had a terrible experience with Cortes towing. I went to mexico and SDPD towed my car. I called them the day before I arrived to the U.S. and asked what do i need in order to get my car and the lady "morning dispatcher" the reason why they towed my vehicle was due to expired registration. So the "morning dispatches ADVISED ME that if I didn't have my registration on hand that I can just pay the "auto registration" ONLINE and show them proof that it's been paid that it'll be fine. Fast forward today ! I call letting them know that I've arrived from Mexico to pick up my vehicle , I let them know I have the confirmation on email of the registration PAID IN FULL, and that I'll be there in 45 mins to get my car out the LOT. As I arrived to Cortes I waited there for an extra 25 mins. So I call the # posted on Apple Maps ..the lady says that she's the only one there so she can't release the car until the driver comes back and that it's going to take another 30 mins til he gets to the shop to release my vehicle. Finally . "ALFONSO" aka the driver truck arrives , gets out of the car , smashing a McDonald's bag , licking his fingers , glances at me , doesn't acknowledge me , until I say "excuse me , my car got towed on Friday and I called an hour and half ago about picking up my car" , and his response was "do you have your paper work of your registration? " and added a comment also for after hours did the lady tell you there's a "late gate fee"? So , at this point I'm completely startled... so i responded and told him whatever you have to charge me , as long as I get my car out tonight I'll pay whatever. So , I pull out my phone to show proof of paper work and paid registration , cuts me off, and says that's not going to work I need the physical copy , I then explain to him that the worker inside said it was okay .. Seconds after, The lady steps out and compulsively lies and tells me that "he's the supervisor, whatever he says goes!" I then explained to Alfonso that my registration is paid online and that I'd have to wait 5 days til it gets sent to my house , and he says "not my problem, I guess you're going to have to wait til it comes to your house" At this point I was just lost in words and angry.. Long story short I wasted 2 and half hours of being lied to , left with empty promises saying that I can "show proof" but it's not going to be able to work, and they're trying to up charge me. OVERALL the workers here the MORNING DISPATCH? The night lady and ESPECIALLY ALFONSO ESTRADA lacked the professionalism, delayed response, and had plenty hidden fees and underlying mischievous motives made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this company for towing services unless they improve their customer service and transparency. My car was towed here by the city, and this is the worst business to deal with. We arrived to pick up our car and paid our fees. We have now been waiting close to an hour for them to find my car in their lot and drive it to the exit so I can leave. It's been an hour and I am still here waiting for my vehicle! They are being incredibly rude and giving no indication of when the very simple task of driving my car to the front so I can leave will be done. Very rude, very slow, I do NOT recommend Cortes Towing & Storage to anyone I feel bad for anyone that does have to deal with this business. I got my car towed from a public street by the City of San Diego for it being out there too many days. I do believe I had good reasons for leaving it out there, and no, I didn't exactly have the funds to afford paying for the impound so I used a credit card. However, I knew the risks and paid for the consequences. I don't agree with policies that overly affect lower income people, but I knew the risks. I wanted to write this review because I looked at the reviews here myself when I found out who towed my car and was worried I'd have issues getting my car back. Their towing service is 24 hrs so I called around 11pm the evening I found out, and I was given all the information I needed about my car. I showed up to their office when they opened at 8 the next day. Their service was straightforward, courteous and fast. I overheard them behaving the same way with others. Not all of them are the friendliest, but it's expected for the type of business they run where people are not always the happiest about their car getting towed and are constantly asking for exceptions to the rules. These scam artist get a big fat Zero. Wheel lift drive changed a tire and keptthe lug lock so now the spare donut is on and we cant take it off. I was so unbelievably impressed about how much they cared! I am a Lyft driver, and I was stranded with a flat tire at the CBX airport. Once they were dispatched, I called them right away to verify. I also told them that I only had a short amount of time to get to discount tire before they closed. I was told on the phone that immediately they would reach out to the driver to try to get me as soon as possible. I received a phone call from the driver, and he assured me that he was on the way and almost there. Once he arrived, he moved so quickly, and was so very friendly! We got to discount tire with 15 minutes to spare and he was so helpful!! Such a nice guy! He deserves five stars for sure, and he made my experience verycomforting. By far the absolute worst experience ever! Alfonso Estrada, who calls himself the manager of Cortes towing has the absolute worst customer service and unethical behavior a human being could ever experience. We placed a call through AAA for a tow. Unfortunately, this man was shopping at 7-11 while my son attempted to flag him down to assist with the tow we had requested. With rude behavior he told my son he was not there to assist us. A couple of seconds later he told me he would come back at 1:00am since he did not feel like towing our car, while cursing at me and my 17 year old son. AAA had confirmed our tow truck driver would arrive at 10:45pm. He was going about 95 per hour as he sped off, while I attempted to take a photo of his plates. I have all recordings and photo. I have set a complaint with the BBB, AAA, and taking legal action as there were other factors involved. I suggest that the owner Johnny fires him immediately as AAA is aware of Alfonso's behavior. The owner may lose his contract with AAA. We've had a great experience with Cortes towing in the past, unfortunately Alfonso is ruining the company's reputation. BEWARE of the man below! The lady at the window, slammed the window in my face and told me that I had no choice when I had already made my towing payment. When speaking to a different representative, I told him that the woman was being very disrespectful. When all I was asking to do was to speak to a supervisor about the release of my car. The tow truck driver was good. He did his job well. My problem is with the office. First the price of the tow constantly changed on the day that it was towed and they seemed to have a problem that I wanted to have my car towed to my house instead of their lot. I assume that they just wanted to rack up storage fees. Since it was my only vehicle, I had it towed to my house where I could retrieve my belongings easily. Next, I looked at the copy of my receipt and it can barely be read because it was NCR paper. I needed the dollar amount to show for my insurance so I could be reimbursed. I called a few days later and they said they would email me a copy. That NEVER happened. I called a few days after that to see if they could send me a copy and the person said that I needed to speak to Diana and that she would be in between 8-12. I called at 8:30am the next day, and was told by another person that she would be in around 11. I call at 11:15am, and reach Diana, who then tells me that I needed to come in for a copy of the receipt. How frakked up can their customer service be?!? If I could give them a ZERO, I would, just for their CRAPPY customer service. I would NEVER recommend using them even in the worst situation possible. If a police officer calls a tow company for you, do not use Cortez Towing! Just don't. They don't deserve your business.
