El Rincon Spanish Tapas Restaurant

El Rincon Spanish Tapas Restaurant

Tattenham Corner

What a gem of restaurant!!…read more My salsa friend Hilary has been helping me in my Yelp quest to find new places to eat before salsa on Friday evenings. We have fairly much eaten out Epsom and Ewell and are having to travel further afield to find new restaurants It was thanks to that policy that we uncovered El Rincon at Tattenham Corner. First bonus mark was when we arrived 20 minutes before they opened and the owner welcomed us in and said they would open the kitchens early as we had to get to salsa From conversing with the owner, we found out that El Rincon has been there for 17 years and their chef is authentically Spanish. He was able to make some recommendations between the main menu and the tapas menu. Being piggy, ooops I mean, in trying to get some energy for the some energetic salsa to come, we opted for paella as well as 2 tapas dishes. Second bonus mark was a complementary bowl of manzanilla olives, which had a wonderful mild and sweet/nutty flavour. No over-salty cheap olives here and the owner gave us a bowl of free ones purely because he was proud of them and wanted us to sample them. Some lovely white and brown bread also appeared on the table at the same time Hilary chose probably the best dish of the evening - mejillones, mussels cooked in Pernod, cream and tarragon with walnuts. The mussels were nice and plump and the sauce divine with the tarragon lending just enough aniseed flavour to bring the whole dish together. The bread was heavenly when dipped in the sauce We also had albondigas (meatballs) in tomato sauce. Nice but we would have enjoyed a little more kick to it. Then the paella arrived, cooked in a proper paella pan and having taken an appropriate amount of time to cook for us to know that it was cooked fresh. The waiter brought it out on a trolley and dished it onto our plates The sign of a good paella is meant to be the soccarat (means lightly toasted in Catalan) , the golden brown crust on the bottom of the pan and you need a proper paella pan to produce it. Well, there was soccarat; there was chicken, shellfish and saffron-infused rice cooked to al dente perfection. Perfect paella Time and 2 full tummies meant that we couldn't indulge in dessert tonight but as we said on leaving tonight,"Hasta luego!" (See you soon!) Best Spanish food and service in town

There were 5 of us and we had 13 different dishes of which were cooked fresh to order. This was plenty was for us. The deserts were lovely and fresh too. And we didn't have to hang around for our table. Definately good value for money. Service was brilliant. Looking forward to our next visit.

I love an "I'm full but the food is so good so let me eat more" type of night!…read more Let me just start off by saying I never would've guessed I'd find great tapas in London! This place was super cute, spacious, and played some good music that paired well with the atmosphere and theme of the restaurant. The servers were very kind and knowledgeable of the menu as well. We started off with a meat platter, chargrilled bread with tomatoes along with two delicious cocktails. For our tapas we ordered the *Patatas Fritas *Crispy Pork Belly *Grilled Salmon Filet (the only dish I wasn't super crazy about) *Alitas De Pollo *Croquetas De Bacalao *Chuletas De Cordero Even after all this, there is always room for a little treat! There's no way we could leave here without ordering churros, and I'm so glad we did!! We also added a bonus sangria , because why not? This is one of my many places I will revisit when I return to London. Highly recommend. More details/descriptions in my pics :)

The kitchen staff really know their stuff, producing classics with flair. Presentation is great - all their dishes look so appealing and sophisticated. The cocktail menu is excellent and worth popping in for alone, or paired with a snack at the bar. I'd recommend booking on weekends as it gets really busy and altho' the restaurant has just recently expanded in size, it is still buzzing with clientele. It's difficult to say what is best, but I love their rosemary manchego with quince jelly. The fish, meatballs, jambon, squid, aubergine, ah... so many fantastic dishes. Try everything ! you can't go wrong. .... visiting a month later, and I'd just add that the paella and squid-ink risotto were superb on Saturday night.

When we walked it, it was quite busy as a huge party was occupying a table across from us. A few other guest always dining as well. Not a big place but still very intimate and quite nice. Bar available but not sure if it's full bar. We did have a couple bottles of wine with dinner. Menu, straight to the point. Tapas and more tapas. As there was couple of us, we all chose three dishes to share. Each all looked amazing. The prawns, chorizo, mussels, meatballs, hummus, sun dried tomatoes salad, mushrooms, fried halloumi sticks, the skewers, pate, avocado toast, and croquettes. Everything was really good apart from it being slightly different from the states. The only downside, the skewer were a bit dry but presented beautifully. Everything was quite tasty and plenty to share for what we've ordered. Mussels were quite tasty in the sauce, chorizo was really good. Pate was more of sliced meat versus a spread. Service was great, staff was really friendly and chatty which was great. They ended the night for us with a little cocktail shot which was quite nice. Overall, amazing service, food was great, atmosphere was nice and friendly. Will definitely return.

First chance to check out this relatively new local venue in…read moremy local village and it was a huge hit. Small, friendly, a nice location just off the main shopping area, reasonably priced and generous portions. The food was delicious and worth venturing over for whether you are local or not! We had crisp halloumi, spiced aubergine with minced lamb, chilli peppered squid, pork belly and chips, a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio (my friend's a white drinker) and a couple of liqueur coffees. All this for £30 a head including a tip. The staff were efficient, attentive and charming. Young and energised, I loved the way all the front of house staff presented one table with a birthday dessert and sang with evident delight to the guest. We were made to feel very welcome despite booking a late table and the arrival of a large party of blokes who'd evidently been out for a Christmas get together added to the very European feel of this little gem. We'll be back

The place is bustling, the staff is very friendly and the tapas are very tasty. Three came from the specials menu and were lovely. The other two came from the normal menu and were not bad either. Visiting her in…read moreGuildford has given me the excuse to try some different restaurants in a town that I don't frequent very often Chapel Street has a few independent restaurants close to each other and we chose La Casita for our latest meet. It's a Spanish restaurant serving tapas as well as more substantial dinner plates such as paella. We decided to stick with tapas. We ordered deep fried baby octopus off the specials menu and chose fabada asturiana (white bean stew with bacon, pork belly & black pudding), cordero a la plancha (grilled lamb chops on a bed of spinach) and gambas al pil pil (prawns with paprika, garlic & chilli) from the main menu. In addition, we ordered some bread, a must in tapas to soak up all those lovely juices. Slightly disappointing the bread didn't come included as in a lot of tapas places The food was lovely. Small dishes of well seasoned, well balanced Spanish classics. They didn't tune down the heat from the prawns for example and allowed us to get the real taste of Spain. Although the portion sizes did look a little small on arrival, we felt full enough by the end. Though not full enough to stop ordering crema catalana, their version of creme brulee made with some cinnamon in the custard. A nice light end to the meal La Casita is a good solid option for Spanish food. Together with Matahari and Loch Fyne on the same road, this area is a nice little dining area in Guildford
