HORRIBLE! They've gotten me addicted to a new hobby ;)…read more Staff is very knowledgeable and even more friendly. I took a pottery painting class and have every intention of booking an actual pottery class in the near future. There was another class going on at the same time as mine and it looked so fun. The workers are so sweet and accommodating. My piece turned out amazing after they provided this beginner with much needed advice!

New hobby unlocked (!!!) I had some of the most fun,…read morerelaxing, and engaging time trying pottery with the wheel for the first time a few weeks ago as I celebrated my rotation around the sun. It was a marvelous experience from start to finish, and that's all thanks to the awesome instructor, Corrie, who was super patient and oh so helpful in lending a hand (literally) to give our projects the pep they needed if they were looking a bit sad. The projects started off in the third stage (after being wedged and centered) which was a very nice of them since I heard that the first steps are annoying and time-consuming. They do offer a 4-week pottery class that meets weekly where you get to learn all the stages from start to finish, which I will absolutely sign up for once I'm in the area more consistently. We were able to mold whatever container our hearts (or clay, really) desired. I came in wanting to make a chawan (matcha bowl) and I think the shape turned out much better than anticipated, but I'm afraid it'll shrink in the kiln, oof. Their glazing and firing process will take about 3 weeks after we make our piece, so I've yet to see the final product but will cross my fingers it'll be functional for my daily matcha routine. You get to choose which glaze from a variety of options, and they'll do that step for you. But in the intensive class, you get to paint and do more detailed work, and I got to see some of the finished pieces that were on display after finishing up my piece. It's super inspiring to see the variety of pieces you can make, and I'm already dreaming of other projects to embark on~ What's even better is this studio also offers more than pottery, including painting, dyeing fabrics, sewing, and crochet courses too, all of which I lovelovelove.

At the end of the night, she even left extra supplies for my daughter and her friend to keep painting. You'll be surprised at what you can create with her expertise. My husband and I can barely draw anything, yet we were both thrilled with how our paintings turned out. Every time I see our artwork, it brings a smile to my face. It was my first time attending a mosaic class with my friends. The place itself is nicely decorated…read moreand has a pleasant atmosphere. We arrived just a few minutes late because one of her students had fallen in the front yard and we stopped to help. When we got inside, Amy seemed upset and we didn't receive any kind of welcome. Instead, we were told loudly to "come sit, they're all waiting." The instructions felt rushed, and as a first-timer I really needed more detailed, step-by-step guidance. For example, I ended up choosing very small broken mosaic pieces without realizing they're harder to work with. It would have helped if beginners were guided toward easier options. We also weren't given any patterns or examples unless we specifically asked. I think the workshop works better for people who already have experience. For beginners, it felt a bit stressful--especially since the environment seemed more focused on socializing and chatting rather than teaching. She did give us a free necklace from a previous event, which was a nice gesture. My final tray didn't turn out bad, but it wasn't great either, it has an uneven surface, maybe resin on the top would help but that had extra charge. Overall, it was a good experience to try once, but it could be much more beginner-friendly.

Amy, the owner and instructor, is clearly passionate about her craft and has created a welcoming environment for people to explore their artistic side. The studio itself is charming, and it was inspiring to see the beautiful projects being created throughout the class. We appreciated having the opportunity to work on our own unique pieces and learn a new skill. As first-time students, however, we would have appreciated a bit more guidance and step-by-step instruction, especially at the beginning of the class. To be fair, our group chose designs that were more complex than many of the other projects in the room, which likely added to the challenge. Still, there were moments when we felt unsure about what the next steps should be and could have benefited from more clarification and direction. One of my friends became so overwhelmed and frustrated by the process that she ended up leaving the class early. I believe a little more hands-on support for beginners could make a big difference in helping new students feel confident and successful. That said, Amy was kind, and it's clear that she cares about her business and her students. With a bit more structured guidance for first-time attendees, I think this experience could be even better. Overall, it was a creative and enjoyable outing, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to try something different and artistic.

My experience here was with 8 girls from my daughters volleyball team along with the parents; we had food for the kids, and the parents of course had their own adult beverages to keep us occupied. We picked our signs well before the party and when we showed up the hosts explained to the girls how to select their stain and decorate their signs however they wanted. I love the freedom the girls had to roam and explore one anothers paintings; they were able to compare, collaborate and laugh. The staff did a fantastic job of keeping the girls focused enough to create beautiful signs, all the while having a great time to talk and mingle with one another. The place is clean and you are greeted with a smile when you walk in. The attitude from start to finish is positive and happy. You could spend time walking through the shop and reading the beautiful signs to get inspiration to create your own version. I will be organizing a neighborhood event and bringing them here, I think we would have a blast working with this place to provide a first stop for a party bus. This place would also be great for team building as you have the space and atmosphere for fun and positive thinking. Overall, this place is great for large or small groups and you leave with a beautiful piece of art you created yourself. Bravo to the owners of Design & Mine for creating a wonderful place to create fun art and memories.
