Paradise Pottery was a great little date spot. Decent selection of items to paint and paint clearly…read morelabeled. I struggled to find a good brush for detailing as most brushes were heavily used / worn but overall good experience.

I can't say enough good things about this place! Every time I've gone, it's been such a fun and…read morewelcoming experience. They have an amazing selection of pieces to paint--whether you want something classic, seasonal, or totally unique, they have something for everyone. But what really sets them apart is how helpful and encouraging they are. If you're feeling indecisive or need inspiration, they always have great suggestions and creative ideas to get you started. This past Christmas, we took our 2 1/2-year-old, and the owner went above and beyond to help us create the most precious keepsake. She helped us smoosh our child's little hands onto a plate (which, if you've ever tried, you know can be a challenge!). Then, for just a small extra fee, their in-house artist hand-painted a reindeer with "antler hands" and "Merry Christmas" wording so perfectly--it looked like it was laser-etched or Cricut-cut, but she freehanded it and layered it three or four times to absolute perfection. It turned out SO cute. I cannot emphasize that enough! The selection of pieces they have for painting is actually useful--which I love. It's not just vases or teacups (though they do have those if you want them). They have things you'd actually use in your daily life, like yarn bowls (perfect if you crochet, knit, or do fiber arts), coaster sets, and all sorts of seasonal decor for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and more. It makes the experience even better knowing that you're painting something fun that you'll also get to use or display in your home. Beyond pottery, they also offer other types of art, like mosaic glass projects. I didn't try that yet, but the examples they had on display looked really fun. I'd love to go back and give it a shot! The location is also fantastic. It's in a great part of town, where you can easily make a whole day of it. After painting, you can grab something to eat at one of the nearby restaurants, then take a stroll around the little duck pond just down the way. If you're like my husband and me and love all-day dates, this spot is a perfect starting point for a fun, relaxing day together. Whether you're looking for a solo creative escape, a fun date night, a get-together with friends, or even a special event like a bridal shower, this is the place to go! They even have a private party room that's slightly tucked away but still lets in gorgeous natural light--perfect for a small gathering. And to top it all off? Super easy parking! No stress, just a relaxing and fun experience from start to finish. Side note: This is NOT a paid review. I know it's long and maybe has that "sponsored" vibe, but I genuinely just love this place. I've been to a few different pottery painting studios before, and this one stands out because of the low-stress, welcoming atmosphere. No one is hovering over you, but they're always there if you need help. And when you finish your piece, they hype you up--but in a way that feels real and not forced. It's little things like that that make the experience so enjoyable. If you're considering going--do it! You'll have the best time.

I had such a negative experience with the customer service from Rutherford's! It was disheartening…read morethat I had to sleep on it before writing my review. I have been shopping at Rutherford's for almost 25 years. I myself have owned my own business & consider myself a very understanding, positive person in almost every situation life brings upon us. That being said...I also believe the heart of our lives is our Home. More so today than ever before. Home is our safe place to be & recharge. I also entertain at home & many of my friends say I have the gift of hospitality. I am not the least bit pretentious. That saying treat the janitor the same as the CEO is exactly how I've been raised. Thank you, please & a friendly tone go a long way. Excellent Customer Service is so important in business. The human connection can truly save any situation, turn a negative into a positive. We all have that favorite server at our favorite restaurant that we feel are like much loved family. When we make a human connection with others, when they get us we should continue to share with them. In all my business encounters when I find a person who is passionate about their job & executes it with knowledge, friendliness & communication...that's customer service. I want to encourage that relationship by asking for their service, be it my restaurant server, the person I purchase a car, furniture or the person I choose for home decor. This past year I had a lampshade blinged up by Pamela, couldn't have been happier. She had perfect insight & suggestions on how to make my lamp enhance my home. She took into account my colors & my taste. Even though it was a small lamp & a tiny sale, Pamela treated my purchase with the same respect as if it was a million dollar sale. Returning to Rutherford's on Monday to have 3 lampshades blinged I was going to set up an appointment with Pamela. Against my better judgement I let an acquaintance talk me out of it. Should have gone with my gut instinct. Upon entering the store I pretty much had an idea what I wanted, but always love the designers insight cause they are the professionals. I made the choices for 2 out of 3 of my lamps completely by myself. The 3rd shade was more difficult to find a match. Finally I settled on a it will do choice, do I like it, yes...not in love with it. After an hour my brain was cooked. Pamela would have had it completed more timely, she & I were connected on the same color wheel. Ok, so I'm paying for my lampshade jewerly & this employee tells me Wednesday morning pickup. She will call me when my shades are ready. That's a longer turn around than I've ever had but I'm good. Happy to know Rutherford's is busy during this Pandemic. Wednesday morning works, my dinner guests were coming Wednesday night to taste test some new recipes for my future cookbook. Wednesday rolls around & it's 1:00, no phone call, so I call just to touch base. This employee is with another customer, no worries, I ask the person who answered the phone about my shades. She says they have no shades that she is aware of being done, ready for pickup. I leave a message for the employee who helped me, to call when she's available, no panic necessary. 2 1/2 hours later I have had no return phone call, so at 3:30 I call. She tells me she hasn't started my shades yet. No apologizes, no concern. Flat tone, she will have them done by 2:00 on Thursday. I never had tone, I was truly speechless. Ok, I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach, ouch! I'm so very disappointed. My naked lamps for my company to see the minute they enter my home. If I had known it was going to take over 3 days I would have done them myself. BTW, we all tasted some yummy food & we had some interesting dinner conversation. Thursday I never received a phone call either. Do you see the zero Customer Service??! Well, my Thursday was crazy, my Hubby & I raced to Rutherford's knowing they close at 5:30. There's also tons of construction on Lovers. We get there with 3 minutes to spare but the door is already locked. Employees are still inside so I'm about to ring them on my phone when dear Pamela sees us & comes to the door. She recognizes me, she's says your shades look beautiful, you made some excellent choices. We enter the store to pickup my shades & I want to give them a look over. The employee who waited on me...no acknowledgement of me at all! No hope you like your shades, no apologize, not even a hello!!!! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! The whole time Pamela is waiting on me. It's difficult for me to be critical, but I share with Pamela I'm disappointed that the ribbon on my entry shade is done incorrectly. On the top ribbon it was supposed to be half the size & it's crooked. Pamela offers to fix it but I'm concerned the fabric glue will show. I'll just live with it. Thank You Pamela, you were wonderful, can't say the same for the other woman who gave me zero Customer Service!

Totally loved the place. Needed tassles for tying back curtains. Not exactly an every day request…read more Luckily I have friends who know this stuff. So off we went to Rutherfords. They let us check out a few - interesting what you can do with mismatched tassles, but I digress. While there I saw some reading glasses with built in LEDs so that the light shines onto whatever you are looking at. Added a whole new meaning to high beams.... Anyhow, we found the tassles we wanted, returned the samples and have ordered them. Very nice people in the store and an array of beautiful things.
