I thought I was going in for a haircut but instead walked out looking like my head went through a chipper shredder. High tight on one side and a crappy fade on the other. This was the first and last time I'll be going to this business. Penny took a phone call while cutting my hair, kept it on speaker and had a frustrating conversation with her flooring guy. I'm not sure how long she's been cutting hair but having the clipper guard gouged into your head and neck is NOT pleasant. I'll be going back to "The Gentlemen's Cut". Corporate image isn't your run of the mill shop. It's clean, professional, well organized and the stylists are all skilled. Jackie is my choice stylist and is phenomenal at what she does. I've been getting my haircut by her for years and she just moved to Corporate Image. I'm really picky about how my hair is cut (which I guess is true for most) and she's good at figuring out what you want and making it happen. She really does have a gift for this. I happen to know she not only went to school to specifically become a men's stylist but she also went to barber school just to perfect her craft with straight razor cuts and learn techniques. That's really unusual to find someone who's skilled at both. She cares about you looking good when you get out of the chair and appreciates her clients. I was in town for my son's graduation & Penny was kind enough to squeeze me in for an appointment. First off the woman is stunning so getting your hair cut by an attractive lady is absolutely a perk. More importantly she certainly knows what she is doing. Her partner was out of town & the customer before me was a little over demanding so she took me a little bit late (no fault of hers) but addressed my overgrown mop of hair quickly & thoroughly for what I consider a reasonable price. Next time I'm in town I'd certainly like to return perhaps this time with an actual appointment & get a few more services they offered such as a shampoo & shave in addition to the haircut. Just wanted to set the record straight before I explain that most "guy" haircuts...are pretty simple unless the man-chilada has beautiful golden locks...or he has a skullet...also called a bullet (balding mullet) a la Brett Michaels (you know that's why he wears a do-rag, right? Oh yeah..."guy" haircuts are typically not that difficult...however, for some stupid reason, almost everyone who cuts my hair ends up making me look like an over zealous 5 year old who just got his first pair of safety-scissors. Until I met Marvin...Marvin was this Peruvian, loud and proud diva who could cut the shit out of some hair. Anyway...Marvin was my main hair cutting squeeze for 8 years until I moved across the country. Quite honestly...the one thing I was not looking forward to was finding someone else to cut my hair...because honestly...it feels like I'm cheating on Marvin...plus he always gave me inspirational one liners like..."Shut up...you look greeeaat" and "chyour wife looked great in that picture you posted yesterday...chyes I was stalking your facebook..soooo whaaat?!". Anyway...what I'm trying to say is I called around a couple of places...that were supposed to be good. One of them said I had to get an appointment a week in advance...Dude...You're a barber...not a dentist. Get your shit together. Anywhosies...So... I called Corporate Image to make sure I didn't have to wear a 3 piece suit to get a trim and they set me up with an appointment for a few hours later. Prompt service...Check. I get there...There's a kid getting his haircut. Dude looks happy. Dudekid... whatever...He was just chilling. My stylist (Penny) brings me up asks me what I want...and I pull the douchiest move ever by pulling up my facebook and like a typical moron (is it still PC to call someone moron?) and saying..."I want this [points to crappy selfie] with a number 3 on the sides." Penny didn't even bat an eye. She just gets to cutting. We did a little chatting but straight up...she finished my haircut in like what seems like 2 minutes. Quite honestly...I was dying to get home to see how bad she screwed it up. I checked in the mirror. Everything loooooooked fine...I payed...tipped (because thats what man-bros do)...and I rushed home to do the ultimate test. I put in my Murray's Pomade. Straight up. Penny nailed it. I only wish this perfect barber shop was in Dallas, TX. My new friend Charlie and I were only visiting Roanoke, we were groomsmen in our buddy's wedding and we both needed quality haircuts asap because the wedding was a day away and we had a barrage of other things to attend to to fill the time. We got up early and by God's good graces we stumbled upon Corporate Image. Penny, the owner, was there when we both walked in. She was by herself tending to a customer when it hit me that I didn't know if they did walk-ins, she said "well it's appointment only but since you're both here we can squeeze you in." She was incredibly nice and FAST and we both walked away agreeing we had just got one of the best haircuts we ever had.
