Because of how wonderful Dee was, we are already looking forward to returning to Beacon and making sure to shop at Brett's Hardware again! Thank you, Dee, for your unforgettable kindness!

There's also always someone there to help me bring the heavy stuff to the car, and no one will accept a tip -- "happy to help" seems to be their tag line. They're also great about referring customers to other local businesses if they don't have something I'm looking for. A recent example was I was looking for a hori-hori (google it, it will change your life). They had some tools that looked similar and probably could've sort of done the trick -- but someone working there told me where I could find an actual one on Main Street. Found it, bought it -- and told the folks working there how I learned about them. Builds community and relationship as opposed to competition. Dig it. These folks are my go to -- highly recommend them.

This was written on my invoice. 9 months later I call to have my mower picked up for a tuneup and I'm told that no agreements previously made are being honored due to the business being sold. They are all family there and the same family still works there. The person I talked to on the phone was Bill. He was unfriendly and rude. We had dealt with him once before and he was unbelievably rude then also. So much for trying to buy local and support neighborhood businesses. My wife and I are both managers who deal with the public everyday and have never spoken to customers the way we were spoken to by Bill. We would have been better off to buy the mower at Home Depot. They had the exact mower for the exact same price.

To keep people coming in they need good customer service and expertise. This place has neither. The employees are generally aloof and BS'ing up at the counter. Aside from that, the selection is just 'ok' and most of the time I have to head to central valley or over the mountain anyway. Its a shame because most true value franchised stores do better than this.

I've been here a few times and will just add that the food isn't amazing and is typically slow to come out (not expecting that much given that the place is small and can get crowded). I wouldn't order the avocado toast again; while the egg was made well, the avocado was spread pretty thinly and the toast very thin and ordinary. The chicken and Waffles with Sriracha maple syrup was pretty good and the gruyere, mushroom, spinach and egg sandwich as well. I think everything is fine, including the bakery, but nothing really stands out. $10 minimum for credit cards. They close on Mondays and Tuesdays.
