We were instantly so impressed by the store, but even more impressed by Dee! Her warmth, kindness, and incredibly personable nature completely blew us away from the moment we met her.Dee went entirely out of her way to help us, providing the absolute highest depth of customer service. She shared invaluable local insights about Beacon, giving us great directions on how to navigate the town, catch the bus, and find the absolute best coffee spots. She was the very first person we met on our trip, leaving a lasting impression that beautifully set the tone for an absolutely wonderful day. Because of how wonderful Dee was, we are already looking forward to returning to Beacon and making sure to shop at Brett's Hardware again! Thank you, Dee, for your unforgettable kindness!

There's also always someone there to help me bring the heavy stuff to the car, and no one will accept a tip -- "happy to help" seems to be their tag line. They're also great about referring customers to other local businesses if they don't have something I'm looking for. A recent example was I was looking for a hori-hori (google it, it will change your life). They had some tools that looked similar and probably could've sort of done the trick -- but someone working there told me where I could find an actual one on Main Street. Found it, bought it -- and told the folks working there how I learned about them. Builds community and relationship as opposed to competition. Dig it. These folks are my go to -- highly recommend them.

They have a…read moregood assortment of trees to pick from with a single base price which can be a blessing or a curse. The fixed price is nice if you are going for a huge tree where you get the best bang for your buck but if you want the experience of cutting down your tree but can only fit something small in your home I think the fixed price can be a bit much for smaller trees. They are only open for several days of the year usually the first two weekends in December so call ahead if you are coming from afar. It's also a family owned farm so it's a cash business only; no checks or credit cards so make that withdrawal ahead of time. Cutting your own Christmas tree is a neat experience and a real treat if you have smaller children. The farm provides hand saws for cutting or you can have an attendant cut your tree with a chainsaw.

I have to say I cannot believe the way I was treated when I visited Farmside Acres. I pulled up and saw an open gate. I pulled my truck in and walked around looking for a tree to cut down. I was looking around for a representative from the farm. I could not find anyone so I called their phone number. I then saw a car pull in. I walked up to her to introduce myself with a smile. She then menacingly confronted me and told me to get off of her property. Apparently they were closed, but the gate was opened. She acted as if I magically should have known that. As if I was in someone's front yard trying to cut down a pine tree. These are some of the least friendly people I have ever encountered in my life. If you are in a Christmas related business you should remain friendly at all times. I was driving a brand new car and have a clean cut appearance. She acted as if I was a prowler there to rob her. All she had to say was, "I am sorry, but we are closed at this time. Please come back tomorrow". It is not my problem that you are negligent with your security. These folks are downright mean people. Do not go here, they will take away your Christmas Cheer. I recommend finding a friendlier place to spend your money.
