Extremely Disappointed -- Avoid This Dentist…read more Dr. Dustin Adamek performed a crown restoration on tooth #19, which led to a crack inside the tooth, infection, and the need for a full implant. I had to have the crown he put in extracted, and now I need an implant. During the numbing injections, he talked to and looked at his assistant instead of focusing on the procedure, and he seemed distracted throughout. He also complained about my previous crown work in front of me to his assistant, which was unprofessional and inappropriate. When complications arose shortly after, Dr. Adamek would not speak to me directly or take any responsibility for a failed crown -- all within three months of the procedure. I've never had a tooth infection in 58 years -- until now. The office staff was kind and professional, but the care I received caused lasting harm. I do not recommend this dentist. Nearly two years after a tooth extraction, I received a text message that looked like a scam. I almost deleted it. After doing a reverse number search, I confirmed it came from San Gabriel Oral Surgery. When I called the office, I was told I had an unpaid balance of $957.00 for three 15-minute sedation charges at mixed rates -- supposedly not covered by my insurance. The extraction itself had already been paid for. I was told, "Insurance companies don't like to pay for single-tooth extractions." I immediately called BS and asked for an itemized statement. At first I got an "ummm." After asking again, I was told they would email it to me. I also asked why I was being contacted almost two years later. I was told their previous billing/accounting company "dropped the ball" and they're now using a new one. When I received the statement, it only showed the tooth extraction -- no sedation charges. I then contacted my insurance company and spoke with two different representatives, including someone in the dental department. Both confirmed the issue: the office failed to submit the required doctor's notes explaining why sedation was necessary. They told me the office could resubmit the claim. I emailed the office explaining this. After multiple back-and-forth messages, instead of rebilling insurance, they offered to discount my bill by 10%. I repeatedly asked whether they had contacted my insurance company to rebill the claim. They avoided the question. At that point, I told them I would not pay anything until I received a written denial from my insurance company, because I no longer trust the office's billing practices. I also informed them that Texas state law requires medical providers to bill within specific time limits, and attempting to collect nearly two years later is unacceptable. I even offered to split the cost, despite this being entirely their billing failure. That offer was ignored. Instead of holding their billing company accountable, they chose to pressure the patient. Bottom line: Keep detailed records. Time how long you're sedated. Get everything in writing. Because one or two years later, you may receive a surprise bill with the explanation: "We dropped the ball -- now you owe us." This feels deceptive, and patients deserve better.

It just happened to be from the office I had declined when referred by my general dentist. They're good, but it was great to see where they went to get help when things went bad. I figured I had made the right decision then but Dr Cain just confirmed my decision with the professionalism and latest technologies used in his office. I can respect this as your doctor doesn't know anything about you unless you tell them. My Hygienist was very friendly, she gave me a lot of pointers regarding dental maintenance and cleaning tips around my retainer. Dr. Josh Rankin examined me. Very attentive and personal. She said they don't do that because it doesn't "download" well and refused to do anything unless I let them do the pictures first. BEWARE OF ANY DENTIST that is unwilling to clean your teeth and do a simple appointment without expensive pics and out of pocket costs.
