I have twins who attend the pre-k program at Cornerstone school. They are full day students. Their pre-k program has both a structured component where the students work on themed projects as well as an opportunity for self directed learning where they can choose to spend time in any area of the classroom. There is a large playground where the kids get to run and play in the morning and the afternoon. During inclement weather they play downstairs in a large room - often playing games like freeze tag or duck, duck goose, or using hula hoops. Their teacher emails us a weekly newsletter to let us know what they're working on in the classroom as well as including names of books they will be reading, words to songs they are learning. The environment is very personable. The teachers and the director of the school really take the time to get to know each of their students. I know my children are learning and being very well cared for while at school all day. They have an excellent after care program in which all of the kids who stay go to the large art room. Some of the activities that the kids are involved in are: finger painting, playdo, using the large hollow blocks, book reading and music - we have teachers who play both the piano and guitar. My children are never quite ready to leave school when I come to pick them up. read more

Pros: Teachers are great. Great field trips. Hours are convenient (max 8am-5:30pm). Great active parents willing to help and pitch in at the school. Cons: Front door could use security (a buzzer to be let in) or a receptionist staffed in the front full time to greet visitors and answer phones (calls aren't always answered), inflexible with schedule changes, inflexible with billing changes, last minute change in calendar where all kids have to be dismissed by 1pm for teacher training but only 1 week's notice given to parents (not good for the working parents who are left scrambling for alternate care). My child has separation anxiety at 2.5. My son was enrolled in the program twice a week. It didn't work out after 5 weeks of crying. The school mentioned that it is causing distress on the child being in school. They mentioned that he wasn't participating and was constantly clinging on to the teacher. After 5 weeks I did not beg for more time and further reconsideration. From day 1 the teacher did not have any optimism nor any positive words. The first day of school the teacher already told me "It was rough". Second pick up the teacher said "I don't know how this will work out. It was a rough day." Third day "I don't know how this will work out because I have other students". No sign of optimism from day 1. The teacher would also tell me that my son made her work difficult and that was also sent to me via email. I think some people think work should always be easy. People won't go far if all they want is an easy job. The director was nice enough to return the balance of the school fees. However, did not even meet up with me to have a pleasant goodbye. I even sent an email to her to check if she needed me in school to sign any documents before I pulled out my child but no reply. It is very sad for people not to understand the concept of "burning bridges". If you have a child with separation anxiety this might not be the school for you. I moved my son to Kidville (Summit) that allowed gradual separation. After 3 days we are now able to leave him in school. He is participating really well and getting more involved. The good thing with Kidville is that they were very optimistic from day 1. They told me "we will make this work". They told me "we will help and make sure this happens for your son." Kidville might not be as big as Cornerstone but the staff are really patient with children that age. With a class of 9 kids they have 2 main teachers and 2 assistants. I am very happy with this decision. Remember if you encounter a school that has no positive words for your child you might want to look around. Sometimes things happen for a reason. I am glad it happened early in the program because my son now is more involved, interactive and most of all very happy. At the end of the day it is the happiness of our children that matters. read more

Cornerstone is a wonderful place. Our daughter has been a student there for the past year and a half and absolutely loves it. The staff seems to truly care for the education and emotional development of the kids. The facilities are also first-rate, big open classrooms with big windows, separate art-rooms and lots of space to play both outdoors and in. A big improvement over many of the dark, basement-housed centers we saw previously. read more

This school has been a relief to me as a working parent! The hours are fantastic with early drop off available and after school program running till 5:30 p.m. They days and times are flexible so even if you aren't a working parent or would like the flexibility you can sign up your kids for different hours and the fees are very competitive and fair for the wonderful care and learning environment the kids have. It is a play based school but my son has excelled so much that he is adjusting just fine in Kindergarten this year and this is my daughter's second year and will be attending next year in Kinderprep as well. They have a fantastic Summer Camp that we attended this summer for the first time and every week the wonderful camp themes are different through the 9 weeks of camp that I signed them both up for the summer! They learned about architecture, science, art, music, etc So much more fun for them then staying home for the summer! Recommend this school to all parents! The Cornerstone School Summer Camp is the BEST!!!! My five year old daughter is having a blast! The teachers are enthusiastic and nurturing and provide a fun environment for the children to play and socialize! The classroom is inviting and provides many different play experiences. In addition, the playground is one of the best I have seen and provides many opportunities for the children to run, climb and explore. Each week at camp is a different theme which keeps it so exciting! This week's theme is cooking and my daughter is loving it! So far they have made oatmeal cookies, smoothies, strawberry jam, and french toast. She comes home very excited and can't wait to go back the next day! I would highly recommend the Cornerstone Summer Camp! It is truly a magical place! Every child should have such a great summer camp experience like Cornerstone! read more

Great nursery school/summer camp program. Dedicated teachers and staff. Adorable facilities, great playground, great flexible hours. Lots of learning opportunities/activities for the kids - music, art, foreign language, drama, technical skills, etc. but all in a fun play based environment. Lots of special little extras too like watching caterpillars morph into butterflies in the classroom, planting seeds/flowers, seeing chics hatch from eggs, walking field trips to spots around town, student concerts, school picnics, etc. Lots of individual attention to each student and their particular needs. I have two children that attended Cornerstone School during the year and camp in the summertime. I can't say enough great things about the teachers and the overall facility! The teachers are kind, caring and knowledgeable. The teaching style was very instructive while still being fun and creative for small children. The class sizes are kept small and intimate and the classrooms are bright and airy. The children spend lots of time on the new playground and get plenty of exercise and fresh air through out the year. In addition to having great teachers, the school offers many extra activities like computer class, Spanish class, etc, and they make speech assessments and other testing available. My kids are going to elementary school next year, but I will miss Cornestone! It's is a terrific school and I'd highly recommend it!! read more

My son started Cornerstone and loved the school and teachers. He's having a great time at the school and often tells me what he learned. The teachers are fantastic and they provide a great learning and fun environment for the kids. We are very happy that we chose to come to Cornerstone. read more
