Frontier Management took over in January 2022, now residents are fed sandwiches, and mystery mash. No appetizing meals as before the takeover, no chicken, salmon, beef, no real meat, not even McDonald-like chicken tenders. Sandwich comes with cheap deli meat, no tomato, no lettuce, mayo only. No nutritional food pyramid for seniors is evident. Guests are not allowed to eat in the dining room with their LO. Ex Dir stated she knew the food was bad, and not nutritional, but it was a supply chain issue. She offered no solutions. Hopefully change for the better will occur soon. Am supplementing healthy meals as well as HEB deliveries. No covid testing done on residents after they are quarantined. Very few guidelines via the State of Texas are enforced like those for a nursing home. New management brought in new staff. Sadly it is lacking a healthy actively engaging environment and cleanliness.

In my job, I visit many senior communities. Colonial Oaks Senior Living in Katy is a fantastic community for so many reasons. I consistently see the leadership, staff and everyone on their team, go above and beyond for their residents. Executive Director Melanie and Wellness Director Enchante work closely with their physician team encouraging home health services to improve the balance, strength, and overall safety of their residents. They are also the eyes and ears for families to notice changes too; they all do. The energy is great, the people are skilled, eternally patient and genuinely kind. Life is so messy, but you can have peace of mind having your family member part of this community. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Colonial Oaks Katy to a friend or family member.

When it came time for my mom to move to an independent living community, Atria Senior Living was the only community that I toured for her. From the moment I walked through the door for my tour, it was clear that Atria was where she needed to be. I looked at other places online but none of them offered everything that Atria offered. I no longer worry about my mom's safety or well-being. From the time she gets up in the morning, the Atria staff is making sure that she is up and moving. She has three delicious meals every day. She goes to group exercise several times a week. There is music, movies, and many social events that she attends. And she has maid service once a week so she doesn't have to worry about her apartment upkeep. She is free to enjoy the fun stuff that is provided by Atria. The biggest change though in her life is that she has so many new friends. Moving to Atria is one of the best decisions we made as a family. No regrets.

I've been discriminated against as well. I speak up when there is a problem to try to work with my management team to find a solution but met with unsupported responses or no response at all. I've been Ignored and treated unfair. I will miss the loving residents and I'm sure they'll miss me as well. I loved working for Caydance Assistant Living. I was treated unfair for way too long. I hope the love I shared with the residents continues. They've been a blessing to me. These are two photos of an employee checklist that I typed up to help employees navigate the work day as caregivers. There was supposed to be a meeting a while back so that the Med Tech could state concerns but it never took place. The supervisor didn't follow through so I created a checklist to help. I was recently rejected, lied to, and not supported by the supervisor on April 15th.

One of the issues they had was with their air conditioning systems and fresh air units not working properly or at all. This issue causes unfavorable health issues. The lack of fresh air and climate control allows for unhealthy temperature conditions and the buildup of mold. We in good faith resolved their issues and prevented the State of Texas to issue fines and closure of facilities. In that time, I was active in the Walk for Alz, 1/2 Marathon Heroes fundraising, hosting facility cookouts for staff and residents, singing Karaoke and playing guitar for the residents. JEA Senior Living took over the property in 2020. Within the last few months there has been an alarming rate of staff turn over. We are down to only a few people who were there this time last year. A group of families reached out to Executive Management expressing our concern that the people caring for our loved ones were leaving in droves. We were told that they would investigate with anonymous input from staff (current and recently departed) and make changes to halt the exodus of valued staff. I logged on to LinkedIn last night to see that the CEO was congratulating himself on the results of the "Great Place to Work" survey and immediately started seeing red. These guys lied to us about how they would handle the situation, did not follow up with the families as agreed, and then started taking victory laps on social media with their stupid survey. Meanwhile the people who care for our loved ones during a time when we cannot see them due to COVID keep dropping off the staff roster. Now there just a few people in the building left to trust as everyone else is new and don't seem to grasp the gravity of the situation. What the jokers at Corporate did (especially the COO) is that they had HR send out a "Great Places to Work" survey which made no space to collect thoughts and opinions about what was happening specifically at our community. Additionally, the staff had their employee ID tied to the survey. It is a dereliction of duty for executive management to take charge of this kind of issue which is core to their business and treat it with such blatant disregard. On what planet does the COO live if he thinks employees will give honest feedback when their name is attached? He told us in email it would be anonymous and assured us they took this very seriously. He lied. He failed us and our families. Let's be clear, every community will be different. If you have a good experience with another location owned by JEA Senior Living, I am very happy for you. It is what we all want for our loved ones suffering through this cruel disease. I have my own thoughts as to why everyone quit, but this is not the place to air those grievances as I have only anecdotal proof. As a group of families, we went to the COO to ask for help in sorting this out for us. We didn't even ask for them to disclose their findings. It doesn't matter. Find what is broken and fix it because this is his business and we trust him to do his job. He didn't. The questionnaire sent was generic and made no space for specific feedback while having responses directly linked to employees. I guess anyone can be COO at JEA Senior Living. I would simply say that this used to be a great place. Not anymore. The executive team overseeing this facility are not serious, they do not care about the residents or the families, and you'd be better off looking somewhere else because they are not to be trusted. I looked at 20+ facilities. The thought of having to do that again with an Alz patient bearing the brunt of the effects of change is infuriating, especially because we came to them in good faith and left it to them to sort out. They have betrayed our trust. Do not give them yours. Keep looking. You have plenty of options in this area. JEA Senior Living management team should be ashamed of themselves for this paltry effort to make it look like they did something. Disgusting. Shameful.
