Kao Soi :)
Ari J.

Corner Thai Kitchen is the kind of place that reminds you why small dining rooms and big flavors will always beat flashy decor and fusion nonsense. It is authentic in all the right ways, not because it tries to impress you, but because it cooks like someone's grandma who has been feeding a village for forty years and still worries you did not eat enough. The cao soi soup is the star. A bowl that feels like a warm handshake. Rich broth, tender chicken, noodles with just the right chew, and that golden curry aroma that hits you before the spoon does. It is comfort with personality, the kind of dish that makes you pause mid bite and nod to yourself like you just solved a small mystery. The pad Thai is another winner. Balanced, bright, not too sweet, not too oily, and full of that wok kissed depth that only comes from someone who respects the craft. It is the version you compare other pad Thais to without even realizing it. And the lunch specials. A blessing. Generous portions, fair prices, and enough variety that you can rotate through the menu without ever feeling like you are settling. It is the kind of lunch setup that makes you feel like the restaurant is on your side. The dining room is narrow, almost like a walkway, but somehow the booths still give you privacy. It feels less like a commercial restaurant and more like you wandered into a Thai family diner where everyone knows the recipes by heart. There is a coziness to it, a lived in charm that makes you relax before the food even arrives. Corner Thai Kitchen is the real deal. Honest cooking, comforting dishes, and a space that feels like it was built for feeding people rather than impressing them. Five stars for heart, flavor, and that grandma energy that never misses.

I began here way back on 2018. They've remodeled since then. Super friendly staff, great parking and easy on the wallet. Lose a star because the Curry Puffs are cold, not throughly cooked.

Good food and service. Limited seating inside but they also have sitting outside. Thank you Corner Thai Kitchen for your hospitality and good food, can't wait to come back and try something different on your menu.

I have a new lunch routine and it's the best hack when I am hungry but want to be healthy: steamed veggie side, steamed jasmine rice side. Buy the peanut sauce and ask for a side of the vinegar with peppers in it. Mix the sauce with the pepper vinegar. Put rice as your base in a bowl with your veggies and some sauce to top. If you want to be bougie pay them a dollar for small side of crushed peanuts topping and sprinkle it on top. This makes at least two lunches. If I want proteins the fried egg is cooked delicious. But normally the rice and veggies is enough and so delicious. the ladies are always busy but so kind and there is a gentleman sometime working who is very kind too. I love their decorations and they put in effort to always keep it clean.

Got pork pad thai, total came out to be $20, not including tips. Tried level 3 spice. Tasted like any regular pad thai. Not that memorable.

My first time here. They have their own private parking lot and offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good. I ordered the Kapow Thai Kai Dow with ground white chicken meat -- it came with green beans, onions, basil, a fried egg, and rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. I really enjoyed my meal!

Whole fried fish , ginger sauce with veggies came w fish, Drunken Noodle, sweet rice with fresh mango.

Drunken noodles are still as delicious as the first time I tried them , 9 months ago. Medium spice was a little too spicy for me... black Cheetos spicy level ( hopefully you know what I mean) :)... or very close to serrano chile spicy. Next time I will ask for mild and chili on the side . Service was great- i ordered to go. My only complaint is that now they serve less shrimps :( ... 9 months ago I mentioned shrimp was not enough... this time it was also not enough but, I wont mention how many or else they might serve less :( Will I be back? Maybe... but I will buy my shrimp at the grocery store and cook them myself and I will add to noodles.

Great experience overall. I ordered the yellow chicken curry, pineapple fried rice with added sausage, wings, and the sampler. The potatoes and carrots were undercooked in the curry. Aside from that the food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Service was good and friendly. Restaurant was nice and cozy.

Came here for a work lunch. There's plenty of parking even during the lunch rush. The place is nicely decorated and outdoor seating is available as well. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food is really good. The textures were just right and the spicy levels are from level 1-10. I like spicy, so 2-3 was pretty good. Would definitely come here. The Tom Yum was so good and their portions are HUGE. They do have a lunch menu, it comes with sides and a small soup. I can eat, but it was too much goodness for one sitting.

I just had an amazing meal at this little spot serving up some fantastic Pad Thai chicken. The flavors were spot on perfectly balanced with that classic combination of sweet, savory, and a little bit of heat. The noodles were cooked just right, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Honestly, it's one of the best Pad Thais I've had in a while. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and craving some Thai comfort food!

I was just looking for a place to eat in my neighborhood and I decided to try this place. Food was super good and the portions were pretty large. Ordered a few things to get a feel of the place and everything was delicious. Service was really good. Everyone was nice and attentive. Even had a little small talk which made it seem like they wanted to be personable with their customers. Not a very big place but its got a big vibe. I will be returning when Im in the mood for some Thai food! JB Recommended!

I really enjoyed this place and will be coming back again. I went here for lunch prior to the lunch rush. The restaurant is small but there is outside seating. I ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee which was fabulous. It wasn't too sweet and was very balanced. The papaya salad was fire, it was sweet and spicy. I added shrimp but it would be fine without a protein. If you like spicy, get it medium or hot. The Tom Khar was super delicious. Highly recommend coming here. Great prices for the quality and they also have a lunch special.

The HH (3-6…read morepm) prices are a very good deal - especially $3-5 for super generously filled seafood tacos or tostadas. The half portion aguachile negro (choice of fish or shrimp) was $12, arrived in a big molcajete, and was plenty for 1-2 people. The flavors were an assertive spicy/tangy/slightly sweet combo that really grabbed my palate's attention. The cooked shrimp ceviche on my blue corn tostada was fresh, visually pleasing, and tasty. I also liked the simple yet satisfying, thick house tortilla chips that accompanied the meal. Offspring got the Cali burrito, and was impressed that the fries inside were still crispy. His favorite item was the al padtor tacos, which had plenty of meat, and were properly served with grilled pineapple as well as an herbaceous salsa that he found unique and delectable.

The best seafood boil in all of San Diego in my opinion, and I've tried many places (yes, including…read moreCrab Hut). The main reasons why this is my top spot are: -Seafood Quality - the clams here are BIG and don't fall out of the shell, and the shrimp is always perfectly cooked and not mealy. The crab clusters are big and juicy as well. -Sauce - I always get the Torpedo Sauce (the house mix-of-all-of-them sauce) but instead of just tasting like garlic, lemon, old bay, "the sum is equal to more than the parts". In other words, the flavors meld together and are magical. I have heard some say that the sauce here leans sweet, and it definitely does have sugar, but I find it balanced. Also, it is mostly emulsified and does not have a thick layer of pure oil that runs off the seafood like some places' sauces. -Other Factors: they used to have a free fries deal for posting on social media (gone as of Feb '26 though), but they still have $1 oysters on some days, I like their fruit tea pitchers which are great for large parties, and they also give free Vietnamese chè for dessert! I rank this higher than Crab Hut because a) it's cheaper, Crab Hut is expensive even for seafood boil, and b) I prefer the sauce here. But Crab Hut is also S tier in San Diego so you can't go wrong with either.

The flavor overall was really good--the sauce had a nice depth and was well-seasoned. If you're…read moresomeone who enjoys spice, just note that the heat level wasn't very strong, even when ordering it spicy. That said, the shrimp and crawfish were unfortunately overcooked and came out pretty mushy, which took away from the experience. With seafood, texture really makes a difference, so that was a bit disappointing. There's definitely potential here because the flavor is solid, but hoping for better execution next time.

But every once in a while, hubby has a special request & we make it happen. His San Diego wish? Thursday night all-you-can-eat lobster dinner at 100s Seafood Grill Buffet. And when I say seafood extravaganza, I mean it. Beyond the lobster, there were crab legs, oysters, sushi galore (maki, nigiri & sashimi), lots of Asian specialties plus plenty of American comfort-food favorites to satisfy just about everyone. Now, full disclosure: my feelings were a little mixed, but hubby? He was living his absolute best life. The lobster is served cut in half & broiled, which unfortunately made the meat sort of melt into the shell. Each half ended up being only a couple bites & you did have to wait in line to grab one when fresh trays came out (one half per person at a time). That said, credit where it is due: the kitchen brought out lobster trays pretty regularly, so the wait never felt unreasonable. Meanwhile, hubby proceeded to eat what I can only describe as his body weight in crab legs. His only critique was that he prefers them served hot rather than cold, although the hot butter on draft definitely helped make up for that. I also appreciated how many unique dishes were available beyond seafood, making the buffet feel more interesting than your standard steam-table experience. And for me, the dessert section was a standout, especially the gelato station, which I may or may not have visited more than once. At $56.99, my personal preference would probably be to spend that money at a really good sushi restaurant. But if your dream scenario involves unlimited lobster, crab legs, oysters & a seafood feast where you can try a little bit of everything, this place absolutely delivers. Final verdict? Maybe not my personal seafood fantasy but hubby was THRILLED & sometimes that's the most important review of all. NOM NOM NOM #YUM

I actually convinced my friend to go there tonight because she originally wanted to try a different seafood boil spot, and I told her she had to try Crab Town because it was really good. Now I honestly feel bad for recommending it because the entire experience was terrible from start to finish. The house sauce -- which was always one of the main reasons I loved going there -- tasted completely off. It lacked the flavor it used to have and just wasn't at all how I remember it tasting. The oysters also did not taste fresh, and we couldn't even finish them. My friend and I each ordered snow crab combos, and we also shared a pound of mussels in the Old Bay lemon butter flavor. The mussels were EXTREMELY salty. We each tried literally one mussel, immediately did not like it, and set it right back down on the table. The shells were still sitting there untouched because neither of us wanted to continue eating them. We politely told the staff we didn't enjoy them, and instead of attempting to fix the situation, a manager immediately came over and basically told us "all sales are final" and there was nothing they could do. I've worked in the service industry myself for years, and usually when customers are this dissatisfied, management at least attempts to accommodate the situation somehow -- whether that's replacing the item, removing it, discounting something, or even just showing genuine concern. Instead, the attitude we got was basically "oh well, too bad." What made it worse was that later, while we were paying, the same manager asked if either of us wanted to take the mussels home. We both said no -- because we genuinely did not like them. That was literally the entire issue. We weren't trying to "get out of paying." We simply didn't enjoy the food and were disappointed there was zero effort to make things right. Honestly, the entire interaction started to feel uncomfortable and lowkey judgmental. As two Black women, it honestly felt like we were being viewed as if we were trying to scam our way out of paying for food instead of simply expressing that we genuinely did not enjoy what we ordered. On top of that, when we asked to split the bill by what each person actually ordered, we were told the only option was to split the entire bill evenly down the middle. It was frustrating because our orders were not identical. Overall, the entire interaction left a really bad taste in my mouth. The food quality has clearly gone downhill, and the customer service was dismissive and unaccommodating. I left feeling more like a problem than a paying customer. Sadly, after this experience, I won't be returning or recommending Crab Town anymore.

They seemed to have a ton of options for my family who didn't specifically get seafood boils so we went ahead for Mothers Day. When we got there the service was okay, our waitress didn't really check on us much at all besides putting a bunch of lemon slices on our table but no major complaints. We did start off with drinks and some of us got the wrong ones but no biggie because it's busier on a holiday. What I had a problem with was the food itself. I asked for the combo #2 because I thought it was 1lb of snow crab leg like I get every single time, I got it "pub style" which is supposed to be all seasonings like garlic butter Cajun lemon pepper in one. They asked me if I wanted shrimp, sausage or craw fish as my second and I told her I didn't want any of that and just wanted ALL crab legs. I don't know if she fully understood because when I got my boil I could tell it was noticibly smaller. There wasn't 1lb by any means, and looking back I wish I could've said something. I think they just took the amount of crab they got me and cut it in half instead of substituting and adding more. I wouldn't mind if it's extra money, I just want the crab so oh well. The sauce was the second worst thing ever. It did not taste anything like other places, but way worse. All I could taste was a watery spicy Cajun, and even on mild how I got it it was pretty spicy. It lacked any real flavor so on that alone I'd never go back. I usually always get a Cajun garlic butter and it's seasoned to the Gods but still light and potent. This was just not good, and didn't even feel buttery but more a watery oil. We did also get the garlic noodles and they were good. I make garlic noodles at home AMAZING though, so these were average and nothing to write home about since other places can still do them just as good, if not better. A place in SD that had ones even better was called Crab City and their boil tasted great. I would recommend that place instead of this. The reviews and menu pictures had me with much higher expectations and I was super let down. Forgot to mention, my husbands shrimp po boy, he said the shrimp tasted off and fishy like not fresh which made him only eat half and never go back for the leftovers. There was a super sweet sauce on it as well that tasted random to me when I took a bite so I would stay away from that as well. I also had to pay extra for my potato's that normally come with your boil at every other place. They usually come with potatoes and corn but this place came with nothing and you even needed to pay extra for potatoes but they were bigger and different then usual with no salt or anything so they were not worth getting at all, nor finished by me.
