I showed up at high noon on a Monday. It was just me so I skipped the wait and bellied up to the…read morebar. It was a nice wide bar with a row of TV's lining the wall. The bartender greeted me and asked if I wanted the regular menu or was the lunch menu sufficient. I perused the lunch menu, which had several different options. Surprisingly, everything on that menu was half price! What a deal! I ordered the most expensive item, the catfish sandwich, which was only $10. Even though they were very busy, I got my sandwich within ten minutes. They call it a sandwich but there ain't no way I could eat it like a sandwich, even with my big mouth. The catfish came with onion, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of sauce on a toasted sub roll. It came with a knife. I cut off the first bite. It was .......... GREAT! Wow! I have always gotten BBQ or fish tacos before. Fantastic blending of flavors. It came with a choice of a side and I chose fries. The fries were barely alive. Good flavor but partially limp. That was the only negative. I wish I lived closer to Farmville. I would make them regular visits during the week. They keep teasing us about expanding to Madison Heights but no action yet.

The BBQ came and was about 1/2 burnt fat. The served brought more and it was tasteless. I ordered…read moregrilled paddock but got fried instead. I ate it and it was pretty good . The BBQ sauce options were limited and frankly not very good. I had been looking forward to eating here based on things I had heard but it was very disappointing. My wife had an Aperol Spritz that was terrible. The bartender had made it using carbonated water instead of prosecco. She did remake it when we told her it was not made correctly. Hopefully they were just having a bad day.

Serving American classics with high quality and great hospitality…read more Sandwiched between two floors of antique malls, Jack's was the perfect stop in the day to get some no-frills nourishment. Their breakfast is incredibly generous and made with ingredients that were fresh, clean, and meticulous in detail. The design of their menu is just so promising with unique twists that are not unheard of, but just an elevated touch when it comes to American diner food as a whole. Things like truffle infused hollandaise, fried green tomato BLT, pairing balsamic with goat cheese, a blackened pork, even mushrooms on the breakfast menu all hint that people developing their menu are confident in their skills in offering something more when it comes to breakfast plates and sandwiches. Their homemade aiolis (highly recommend their pesto aioli) and hot sauce tie any dish together-- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Things made to this quality are not to be unremarked. Came in with friends so we can try everything on their menu, and we were pleasantly surprised on all fronts. Presentation, ingredients, preparation all elements that made our meals great and were evident across all dishes ranging from protein to carb. Details like toasted bread with already spread with butter, perfectly poached eggs, and brioche as the bun of choice were things we peeped. We would have left satisfied if these details weren't accounted for, but we were so impressed this became a revisit during our short vacation. Their space is greatly spacious, with an open drinks station so its just not pretentious. There is even a section in the front to pick up goods made by local artisans. This is a great place to dine in, no notes.

After eating a wonderful lunch I was ready to give five plus stars…read more We had the truffle Benedict and the open faced roast beef . The ingredients were fresh and the flavors delicious. The atmosphere in the dining room was nice and airy. As we were traveling a good distance I decided to get the renowned cinnamon roll to go . I got a take out coffee and was told there would be a brief wait. After several minutes-a roll came out on a plate. Someone asked what I was there for. I said I'm for a cinnamon roll to go. The busy manager said they take 10 minutes After 20 minutes my husband came in to find me -the roll appeared soon after. I'm a quiet type person , I took the roll and left . It was very good. Message -order the cinnamon roll prior to meal.
