The Sarah Lavender and Vanilla latte hot.
Maurice L.

I stoped here for a coffee and a quick bite. The coffee was wonderful but the jimmy dean breakfast croissant was just prepackaged jimmy croissant heated up. I was kinda disappointed, I thought this little mom and pop shop was going to actually cook the food. The service was great and everyone was friendly.

Cozy coffee house, friendly locals, great staff and amazing coffee! I believe we met the owner on our last visit here and she was super friendly!

Iced latte with vanilla and white chocolate and oat milk. Delicious!

This is the cutest little coffee shop! They have every coffee syrup under the sun and some very interesting signature drinks too. They have teas, espressos, regular coffees, you name it, they have it! I had an iced latte with vanilla and white chocolate and oat milk. It was DELICIOUS! We also got a blondie, a cinnamon bun and a blackberry limeade. Everything was amazing. The inside of the shop is adorable with cute things for sale (like a little gift shop) and the staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

Introduction:…read more Finishing up the last 2 of the prior to 2018 to 2024 runner-ups to non-DMV picks in alphabet series. First of two 2024 runner-ups, B is for Bethel Brews. Although this is technically not in the DC-Baltimore area as it's geographically closer to Richmond & Charlottesville areas, I'm counting it for these reasons: 1. It was a good runner-up for the letter B, which my original pick was truly out of town by Smith Mountain Lake, also in Virginia, but way southwest. 2. This place was great, so I wanted to get around to reviewing 3. I had Louisa County, VA work travel twice in March & April 2024 and was rolled into the BAWA (Baltimore-Washington area) work market, perhaps because the Virginia market, which includes Richmond & many areas to the south & west is such a vast land area with many counties, they barely rolled Louisa into BAWA market. Experience here: Staff greeted me and was friendly. On Monday, March 4, 2024, I got a wrap & fries. It really hit the spot. Excellent wrap & fries at a reasonable price. I think I got one of their coffees that day, but definitely did in April as I have photo of the drink. On Monday, April 15, 2024, I remembered it was a great lunch option that I decided when in Rome to go back, got a fruity chicken salad, which was also solid. I was tired from all the driving and got some latte I think; it was delicious. I haven't been back to Louisa County since April 2024 work travel, but if I ever am, I'd try to return.

To paraphrase the Beatles, there's nothing I can say that can't be said, but man do I love, love, love this place. Excellent whole bean offerings, roasted to perfection by expert roasters. Delicious hot and iced coffee and espresso drinks that simply can't be replicated anywhere nearby--including, sadly, in my home town of Staunton (hey, Trager Brothers! There's a huge opportunity for expansion in the Queen City!). And top all that off with sublime, informed, and incredibly friendly front of house staff. Yeah, it's a little hard to find, but anything worth having is worth looking for. And in this age of googling and Apple mapping and whatnot, there's no excuse for not availing yourself to the BEST coffee in central Virginia. Y'all who might have read some of my other reviews will know: I usually have a minor nit to pick with even my five stars. Not so with the Brothers Trager, fam. Enter their shop and be greeted by the heavenly aroma of roasting coffee, the whir of a burr grinder, the quiet scream of a steaming wand, the genuine smile and friendly greeting of the barista. Now, you tell me: how could you possibly find a quibble worth the scribble?

But I was greeted with a colorful large space instead. This place has everything creative from a gift shop with so many unique items, to a large open studio space in the back and a cafe area with drinks/food items. The food items offered are a little limited to mainly breakfast items and sandwiches but the grilled cheese I ordered was the best piece of nostalgia I could have. It was buttery and toasted to perfection. The drink menu is extensive with something for everyone, they also have a variety of locally baked pastries/goods for sale. In addition to my sandwich I got the lavender lemonade lotus drink and a red velvet cake pop. All delicious! The staff was very friendly and even answered my questions about how the open studio worked as I ordered. I will definitely be back to paint something fun and maybe indulge my inner child with another grilled cheese!
