If I could give less, I would. I have dietary restrictions. I asked for the Napoleon salad with no bagel chips because I cannot eat gluten. She brings me a salad covered in tortilla chips! I cannot eat eat either and many tortilla chips have gluten or wheat in them! So I gave her back the salad and told her I couldn't eat it. She proceeded to tell me that they had a gluten free menu, and why didn't I order from it! I tried to explain that I am also allergic to wheat, corn, and oats. She interrupted me, and asked if I was refusing a gluten free menu. Wow just wow! Just answer my questions and get me the food I asked for! I got my plain salad back finally! I first went to the Corner Cafe on an awkward first date. I kept the restaurant, but ditched the guy. The interior is a hodge podge of vibrant art on the walls, from two large murals to various paintings by local artists, to hand colored pictures from kids. One of the things that strikes me about the Corner is that it is the only place I've seen students and university faculty and staff eating side by side at tables. The menu has an extensive selection of quirkily named sandwiches for the carnivore and vegetarian, along with a smaller selection of appetizers, salads, pizzas (by the slice or pie), and calzones. When you come here, order the "Spin Art" which is the spinach artichoke dip served with bagel slices, not chips. If you're a vegetarian and a fan of avacado, try the Mugwump sandwich. If you're not an avacado eater, try Mr. Green Jeans. For the past two years I've been eating either Rosemary's Baby's Daddy, or the Chipolte Chicken sandwich, while my friend swears by the Turkey in the Straw. Just two weeks ago I discovered their calzones, and I can't stop eating them. This is the best calzone in Carrollton, I don't care what the Mellow Mushroom or Camancho's says. Carrollton was an interesting place to go to college. At the time, it was a dry county, but that is the case no longer. My aboslute favorite place to eat in college was The Corner Cafe. It's on the quaint little downtown square, which has been redeveloped into cool live/work lofts and small little boutiques and restaurants. The Corner serves enormous thin crust pizzas with a slightly spicy sauce for an unexpected kick and has a wide variety of salads. But you come to The Corner for one of their amazing sandwiches on homemade foccacia bread. They have an extensive vegetarian menu-- larger than any I've run across in Atlanta, but being the meat lover that I am, I always got the slow cooked pot roast with cream cheese (my dad loved visiting and getting the Texas version with salsa) or the smoked turkey. The bread is just out of this world good. I always thought I should try to get them to make me a plain grilled cheese on that delicious bread, but never did. If you're ever out on the Alabama/GA border or on your way to Birmingham or Talledega, you must exit off at Carrollton and try The Corner. read more

Great sandwiches most of the time. Hip, laid back attitude to the entire place. The guacamole is terrible, it is some sort of avocado powder, sour cream blended mess. The service is usually pretty good if you are dinning there. The take-out service is an entire different story, I have called in take out orders and been told it would be a thirty minute wait, only to arrive there in thirty minutes and continue to wain an additional thirty minutes to get my food. It has happened five times that I can remember, I have never been offered a discount, or even a drink while I waited. I called them one time regarding the extra wait time for a to-go order and asked for the manager, the lady answering the phone didn't really seem to know who was the manager, it seems to me like a "Lord of the Flies" type of place, no real management. Avoid take out from there, but definitely go and eat inside to enjoy a great tasting, good priced sandwich. read more

This was at least our 10th time eating here. The food is consistently good. However, waited 35 minutes today on our order. And it was a very simple order. When we asked about it, the server was RUDE and argued it had been 31 minutes! Who cares? It was a 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup order. We later overheard the servers telling customers around us they were having an issue in their kitchen. If they had just told us this information we wouldn't have asked about the delay. The entire staff were rude, they never apologized and actually were quite argumentative/combative about our questioning the long wait; and afterward they completely ignored us. It was an incredible/twighlight zone level experience! Never experienced rudeness like this ever. Sadly, after many decent experiences, this one has burnt us and we won't be back. :-( read more

My partner went to college in Carrollton and she likes to go back every so often. Plus one of her best friends still lives there so we go out there to see her too. We ALWAYS go to Corner. I've been going here for almost 8 years and I think the food is great. The spinach artichoke dip is AWESOME. They serve it with homemade bagel chips that are perfectly buttery and toasted. I've never had a bad sandwich. Every sandwich I've ever had has been great. The sandwiches are not your ordinary sandwiches. They are pretty inventive with the combinations of things they put on them. They also have a lot of them (maybe all of them) on homemade bread. They have a HUGE vegetarian selection. I've never seen more vegetarian options except maybe in a vegetarian only restaurant. Sometimes we will make the trek from Atlanta just to eat here and wander around. If you're ever in the neighborhood, you should definitely try it. read more

This place hasn't changed since I went to college here in 1999, as was evident during a recent visit while visiting my mother. They still had my favorite sandwich: Cucumber sandwich on focaccia (add avocado), and the decor is exactly the same except for the local section. I think the same sign about only "current" employees being allowed in the kitchen is still there too - LOL. For a small town like Carrollton, this place is an absolute jewel. I HATED to see all of the development/strip malls/fast food joints that have invaded the town since I left. I can't say anything that hasn't been said already here, but I will echo a few things. Great food, great people. You HAVE TO HAVE THE SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP. When I say I haven't had better anywhere in the country, it is not an exaggeration. Try this too - get the jellyfish sandwich (it's chicken, not a globby sea creature sandwich) and put the spin dip on that! Get there early though at lunch as they get really crowded and good food takes a few minutes to prepare. Oh, and great coffees too! read more

AMAZING!!!!!! My boyfriend and I visited this location while my car was being maintenance a few blocks away. It is located a few doors down from Plates and the alley parking lot. A very cozy and community oriented store. immaculate paintings covered the store with some works from UWG students. I ordered the Corner Club with turkey, bacon, cheese, onions, pickles, tomatoes, mayo/mustard,a bag of chips and side Garden of Eden salad. My boyfriend ordered three slices of meat lovers pizzas with no ham and a Garden of Eden salad too. We then ordered two to-go black bean burgers with the same toppings as my Club and chips. Obviously we love their food due to our obsessive ordering. The staff is amazing the place is adorable and next to some awesome boutiques. I would recommened visiting during lunch. What a creative menu! Corner Cafe puts together stuff that sounds totally impossible and makes a very tasty surprise out of it. Sandwiches with names like "Baby Rosemary's Daddy" and "Texas Jellyfish" will leave you wanting more except the portions are so big you'll be comfortably full. My only gripes (and the reason this isn't five stars) are due the very slow service (plan to spend 90 minutes at lunch) and servers with very little personality. Was in Carrollton for work, and went here with some coworkers. Awesome place! Very eclectic interior. I ordered half of a deluxe pot roast sandwich with sausage and lentil soup. Both very very good. Would definitely go back. Not a great beer selection. Was hoping for some local beers, at the very least Sweetwater. That could really amp up this place. Also-the service was fairly slow. I really love this place! They support local businesses such as Angela's crochet, and numerous local artists by artistically displaying artwork around he eatery. They regularly change the artwork decor to inspire new emotions. Regarding their food, it's delicious and they have generous portions. They have considerations for all dietary restrictions and are willing to make adjustments to allergies. I really enjoy the vegetarian black bean burger with chipotle mayo sauce, avocado, tomatoes, and sprouts! The black bean burger itself is soft and very lightly seasoned that pairs well with the flavorful sauce! The bread is a nice crunchy texture compared to the rest of the soft sandwich. I could do without the onions, but that's personal preference. The carnivores corner BBQ sandwich is also a winner! The Corner Cafe is easily one of the best places to eat in Carrollton. It's almost always busy and because of this, it can take awhile for you to get your food but when you do, it's delicious. Despite the slow times, the service is consistently good and it really does look like the servers don't mind being there. In addition to the good food, I greatly enjoy the laid-back relaxed atmosphere and the fact that it is a beer-serving cafe makes it even better. Today, Father's Day, my husband decided that he'd like to try a new restaurant....reviews seemed solid and the menu was really intriguing. That said... what a HUGE disappointment!! My husband ordered a Club sandwich. The deli meat was quite average. ONE slice of bacon.... bland.... mostly bread. Certainly overpriced for the caliber of the sandwich. I chose the chicken/tuna salad plate. This was served on a bed of iceburg lettuce, a few leaves of which had brown spots denoting old lettuce..... there were some cucumber/ tomatoes thrown in.... the tuna and chicken salads were bland as could be.... NOTHING special..... no toppings such as almonds or pecans.... no fresh fruit at all.... they threw in some thinly sliced bagels.... not warm.... not toasted, no butter or olive oil....BLAND!!!! Frankly, most fast food restaurant salads put these salads to shame!! My granddaughter ordered a slice of their allegedly renowned pizza.... the sauce was overly spicy and the cheese was barely melted. She couldn't eat it. Bottom line..... Love that you can get a half sandwich and half salad because I can never choose. This is a restaurant you might walk on by if you didn't know how good the food was. The dining area is a little older and mismatched, but that adds to the charm. Lots of vegetarian selections, lots of sandwich choices as well.
