Tuscan Grilled Cheese (V)
Frankie R.

First time ever eating at Corner Bakery. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. Clean and not crowed so we were able to order almost immediately. Food was brought to the table with little wait time. Had the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combination and since it was a colder day, tried their tomato Italian soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Tomato soup is broth based; ok but not really to my liking. Flavor on the mild to bland side. But the grilled cheese with tomato was fabulous! Perfectly toasted grain bread with melted cheesy goodness - delicious. With tip, meal cost was just over $16 which seemed a bit steep but in keeping with most places currently.

We ordered the Rustic Italian Panini with a side salad to split.

Love the vibe here and the menu. I can always find something tasty to eat here. The cashier was very helpful and friendly.

Corner Bakery is a great cafe option for brunch, and soup, sandwich and salad options for lunch and dinner. Similar to Kneader's, it's line up and order, with a delicious bakery to grab some sweets. Only fresh ingredients used on the whole menu. Soup menu changes often. Simple pancakes and eggs breakfast hits the spot every time. Pro tip: use their app for free stuff, and to order ahead to skip the wait.

Great service and the tuna melt was really good but the potato tasted like they were mad the day before and avocado looks old and spoiled but the experience was good

I had pretty high expectations for this place after hearing from friends and family. We found a buy one get one free coupon and I decided I'd finally try it. I ordered the linguine and meatballs and the pesto chicken. The orders took a bit longer than expected to come out but perhaps they were just short staffed. As far as the food, I took a bite of the garlic bread and tasted no flavor. The two bowls were a pretty good size considering the price; and although there were only two meatballs in the linguine,it seemed sufficient due to the size. The linguini had a very light tasting marinara but the sauce seemed very watery to me. The pesto chicken had lots of pasta but it seemed that it was lacking a bit of chicken. The pesto sauce was also so light that it seemed that the dish was almost lacking in flavor. Overall, the food is affordable but I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for the taste. If I had a coupon, I'd come in again.

The wait for dinner was relatively longer than I expected, however there were many tables available so there was no issue with seating. The menu also has various selections of healthy options. I ordered the pesto chicken and linguini meatballs, and both dishes came with a piece of garlic bread. The presentation wasn't the absolute best, and the garlic bread was not salty enough. The pesto chicken sauce I ordered was also quite light. However, the meat was very tender! I would say that this place is worth it for the price paid.

Enviornment - 1 (so quiet you can hear everyone eat) Food - 4 Customer service - 5 The food is great. Its so quiet I would rather not eat here. I will order to go from now on. Probably why it was empty inside. Great food I hd soup and cavatappi pasta.

Farmer scramble and the Anaheim scramble (back). The Anaheim has a lot more flavor.

One of the things I like about corner bakery cafe is that I don't feel like I've eaten a pot of grease after eating here. The food I've had is fresh and sits well. And most of it seems pretty on point. Service has always been great each time I've been. My very first visit, I ordered fresh fruit and mentioned something about not liking cantaloupe but that I would get it anyway. When they brought it out, the person had made sure there was no cantaloupe in there. That's service! Atmosphere is also nice and clean. Once again, you don't feel like you're sitting in grease. Well done CBC.

this place is very dirty! The baked goods look like they've been left out for days and they also don't have fries.

Why the heck would anyone go to Zupas when Corner Bakery is across the street!? So fresh and delicious, and it never makes me ill.

Per manager Chris, restaurant personnel arrived 40 minutes late this morning, and as a result menu items were not available at opening.

When we arrived and sat down, we were greeted by Joe telling us that "House rules, you're not allowed to order the same item". Lol. Love that guy! We both ordered Denver omelets, one without onions, extra mushrooms, French toast, and grits and one without mushrooms, hash browns, and pancakes. First off, the pancakes were amazing! They're light, had crispy edges, and had a wonderful flavor. But the best thing was it was in the shape of little donuts, which was a nice surprise. Our entrees came but were somehow got switched. We didn't realize it at first but both were still good. Unfortunately, my wife put Chalula on hers and I put Tobasco on mine and we don't like each other's choice of condiments. The other unfortunate thing was that I had an eggshell in my omelet. Even though we had these misfortunes you can't hide the flavor of these dishes and they certainly don't skimp on toppings. My grits were too sweet today. If it's too sweet for me, it must've been really sweet. The only other criticism I saw was that they were filling the syrup bottles from large Log Cabin jugs. They also were using Idahoan shredded potatoes from a large carton. I can understand the potatoes but how great would it be to have freshly made syrup. Still a great experience and they are still one of the best breakfast places on the state.

This warm, friendly welcome set the tone for the whole experience. Joe stopped by and told us the "rules". Everyone orders something different and we all share. My husband got the eggs & diced ham with a side of biscuits and gravy. My son got the French Dip because you can order breakfast or lunch at 10 am. Everyone ate a good portion if not all of their food. It was good. We will definitely be back. For the food but more for the service!

I recommend joining the waitlist in advance. It's tough to choose from such a wide range of delicious options, but my go-to pick is always the Mixed Berry Dutch Baby, Baby! The berry syrup and cream cheese topping set it apart from other breakfast places. We also had the Classic Breakfast Special, with crispy bacon cut thick to perfection. The interior is one of the most distinctive things about the place. Nearly all the Art Deco furnishings, the booths, mahogany paneling, black glass counter, and light fixtures, were salvaged from Lamb's Grill, a Salt Lake City restaurant that had operated since 1919 before closing in 2017. Eating here feels a bit like dining inside a piece of Utah history. The service is usually excellent, and you can tell they take the motto behind their name seriously: "True service is true religion." This visit, our waitress did seem in a rush to turn the table, but the quality of the food made it easy to overlook. Worth noting: they run a Second Chances charity that supports people in recovery from addiction, those reintegrating into society after incarceration, and folks rebuilding after financial hardship or other life challenges. It's a meaningful mission, and it's part of what makes this place feel different from your average breakfast spot.

This caused us to have to wait for almost 30 more minutes past our reservation time before we could be seated. Frankly the service by the manager was terrible, she needs to learn how to seat and time large groups. That being said Our waiter was awesome, super nice guy, he was cool, fast, nice. But every time we come here the wait (for those who have reservations) is always super long and usually it takes a while for food to arrive. Food is delicious, love the food. Hot chocolate is awesome too. Always happy with the food!!

So unique and flavorful. For the main entree, the gnocchi and winter pasta were also a hit. Hard to top the soup and salad though! To top it all off, the pumpkin pie panna cotta was amazing. However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.
